A huge tactical mistake the Germans made on Bastogne was when they would make an attack, they would attack at only one place and with small forces, usually company sizes. They also had no idea that the Americans had little or no ammo left for their rifles and artillery pieces. Had they known this, they could have easily run over this position.
Because Webster wasn't in episodes six and seven, Eion Bailey went on vacation to India while the rest of the cast was filming. The cast members used the jealousy and resentment they felt towards him when he came back to channel their characters' feelings towards Webster in episode eight.
Although set in a wintry forest outside of the Belgian town of Bastogne, the entire episode was shot on a soundstage in England. The stage was built inside a former aircraft Hangar at Hatfield Business Park. The Hangar is still there, it now contains a gym and hotel.

In total, over 2,000 extras worked on Band of Brothers and many got to utter a line or two. Altogether, there were approximately 500 speaking roles. It took five kitchens going full blast to feed all the cast and crew.
