He is immediately rushed to an emergency room, where doctors slice his chest open with a scalpel (onscreen, resulting in some blood). They clamp open his chest, revealing a centipede-like creature wrapped around his heart, which is still beating.
- The centipede is seen later when Olivia, Walter, and Peter get to the emergency room.
