Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • A man has what appears to be a heart attack, and collapses on the floor. He is immediately rushed to an emergency room, where doctors slice his chest open with a scalpel (onscreen, resulting in some blood). They clamp open his chest, revealing a centipede-like creature wrapped around his heart, which is still beating.
  • The centipede is seen later when Olivia, Walter, and Peter get to the emergency room.
  • There is a surgery to attempt to remove the centipede
  • A man is shot in the head (nongraphic). We later see the bullet wound.

Profanity

  • Most Fringe episodes contain between two and three swear words, including a-s, h--l, d--n, and b---h.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Several drugs, including adrenaline, are used in proper medical ways during procedures.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The entire concept of a parasite that hooks onto your heart in itself is terrifying, and could give many easily frightened viewers nightmares for several weeks.
