It can be hard at times to separate Rupert Grint from his "Harry Potter" roots. Even now, over a decade after the last film in the franchise was released, Grint's name is still synonymous with Ron Weasley, the clumsy boy wizard with a heart of gold. But Grint's acting career definitely has roots outside of Hogwarts. Over the years, he's appeared in various other films including Jeremy Brock's "Driving Lessons," Jonathan Lynn's "Wild Target," and 2009's "Cherrybomb" directed by Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn.
"Cherrybomb" is a British drama about two teenagers who both fall for the same girl. In increasingly more serious attempts at getting her attention, they eventually find themselves in over their heads and headed for disaster. Grint plays one of the teens, Malachy McKinney, an employee at a local movie theater. In the film, Malachy is the exact opposite of Ron Weasley, eager...

"There isn't a moment... I won't be there with you." Focus Features / Universal UK have debuted an official trailer for an indie cancer drama titled Ordinary Love, from directors Lisa Barros D'Sa & Glenn Leyburn (Cherrybomb and Good Vibrations). This just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and is next playing at the San Diego and Chicago Film Festivals this fall. The short pitch for this film is perfect: an extraordinary look at ordinary love. Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville (from Phantom Thread) star as a long-standing couple facing a potentially life-changing cancer diagnosis, in this film written by Northern Irish playwright Owen McCafferty. The very small cast includes David Wilmot, Amit Shah, Esh Alladi, and Geraldine McAlinden. This picked up solid reviews out of Tiff, and it looks especially lovely and heartbreaking. This is a really beautiful trailer (perfect song choice) that will bring out some strong emotions. Take a look below.

Since at least the 60s, mainstream pop culture has become a lot more accepting of sexual content, expanding dramatically from the simple days of passionate kisses to full-out buck-naked lovemaking. Regardless of what everyone’s personal views are, these scenes will only continue to be more common and nudity may even find itself in PG-13 someday.
Something that a lot of people may not think about, however, is the actors involved in those scenes. It may be common for moviegoers to simply blow-off the intensity involved in creating such a moment due to the fact that both attractive actors are “lucky” to see each other nude, but that often isn’t the case. The comfort in making simulated sex relies on a number of factors, primarily the mutual respect both actors feel when with each other and the director in charge of crafting it.

As The Mortal Instruments opens in cinemas, Robert Sheehan is set to become a teen heartthrob. Megan Conner meets an Irish actor with style and attitude
It was on Robert Sheehan's flight home from Toronto, where he was auditioning for a role in The Mortal Instruments, that he found himself "yellow carded" on a plane. He wasn't flying alone; while trying out for one of the three leads in the Hollywood teen franchise, tipped to be the next Twilight, he had buddied up with a fellow auditionee and spent much of the week partying. On the final evening, they stayed out all night. "We went straight to the airport in the morning and got on the plane," says Sheehan in his Irish lilt. "We ordered some Caesars, which are like Bloody Marys, and one thing or another led to me buying a bottle of whisky..."

July 5th, 2013, 1:48pm– MojoCover The internet has been buzzing since last night when The Daily Mail published an article about Rupert Grint being in talks to make his theatre debut in the West End production of Mojo. The news spread quickly, especially since the article states that Rupert already took part in a reading with director Ian Rickson and actors Ben Whishaw, Daniel Mays and Rupert’s former Cherrybomb costar Robert Sheehan. This is very exciting news and we definitely need to keep our fingers crossed. We have just heard back from Rupert‘s representatives, and although they are not ready to make any confirmation on the news, they do say that he is in talks to star in the play. The Jez Butterworth play has previously been adapted for the stage as well as the cinema, and although we don’t know yet which character Rupert is being considered for,...

★★★☆☆ Have you ever wondered what you might come up with if you dared to blend 1980's thriller The Long Good Friday with High Fidelity (2000)? You probably haven't, but rest assured that Good Vibrations (2012) would almost certainly be the result. Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn (Cherrybomb) bring us a biopic of Terri Hooley, an integral factor in the rising punk-rock scene of 1970s Belfast, finding hope and inspiration against the backdrop of the Northern Irish Troubles. Labelled the 'Godfather of Punk', Hooley (Richard Dormer) has little care in life for anything but music, causing conflict with his long-suffering wife Ruth (Jodie Whittaker).

Good Vibrations, the latest film from Cherrybomb directors Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn, sets its scene in Belfast during the emergent wave of the punk rock scene.
Centering its story around the (living)legendary figure of Terri Hooley whose prominence and passion helped kickstart a generational wave of new music. The film has played very well at the Belfast and London film festivals last year and gets a UK release next Friday, the 29th of March and we’ve got an exclusive clip to share with you today.
The reviews praised the film’s lead, Richard Dormer, for his engaging turn as the mercurial Hooley and in this clip we have an excellent example of the warmth and hopeful nature of the man as he meets his future wife Ruth (Jodie Whittaker) for the first time. Harry Potter’s best friend, Ron Weasley, could use a little magical assistance these days because Rupert Grint is having a rough time in the new trailer for Into the White.
Unfortunately (in a sense) for the three leads in the Harry Potter franchise, the movie series about the boy who lived catapulted Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint into the spotlight in a major way during their childhood years, making a large part of society forever see them as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.
Now that the Potter storyline has wrapped up, the three stars have set off to see if there’s a career beyond Hogwarts. Radcliffe discovered the easiest way to distance himself from the boy with the lightning-shaped scar was to get on a Broadway stage and take his clothes off, and roles in The Woman in Black and the upcoming Horns seems...

As the Harry Potter franchise drew to a close, its three young stars were striving to pave a way out of being forever typecast as Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Daniel Radcliffe did this by taking daring roles on Broadway, showing his singing chops and, well, more. Then he proved to be a box office draw with 2012's The Woman in Black. For her part, Emma Watson blossomed into a fashion icon and branched out into period dramas with My Week With Marilyn and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. But playing the gawky goofball of the Harry Potter heroes has made things harder for Rupert Grint. Despite headlining several features throughout Harry Potter's run.including Thunderpants, Driving Lessons and Cherrybomb. Grint hasn't gained any traction as an ingendude in the States. But all is not lost, since Grint has two releases due to hit the U.S. this year. Preceding...

Though acting turns outside of the Harry Potter franchise from Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) in films like Driving Lessons, Cherrybomb and Wild Target haven't exactly been as easily recognized as co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in The Woman in Black and My Week with Marilyn respectively, that doesn't mean the red-haired Brit is giving up on acting just yet. In fact, Variety has word that Grint has locked down two new fairly high profile projects with the Shia Labeouf led thriller The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman and the underground music scene drama Cbgb, based on the NYC club of the same name. Grint has yet to prove himself as a viable star outside of Harry Potter, but I think he has some real talent in him. He might be more suited for comedy, but it sounds like these two roles are a little more serious. In The Necessary...

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are rich enough to never work again – but who has the talent and ambition for adult success?
Three weeks after its release, The Woman in Black has claimed a remarkable achievement: it is by some distance the most successful homegrown horror film ever released in Britain.
Equally significantly, perhaps, it marks the transition of the Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe – playing the lead role of widowed solicitor Arthur Kipps – from one of the most successful, well paid child stars of all time to something approaching a grown-up acting career.
For all the fame and money the bespectacled Hogwarts schoolboy has brought Radcliffe over the eight-film franchise, he could provide a straitjacket for the 22-year-old actor. Radcliffe's Potter co-stars, Emma Watson, 21, and Rupert Grint, 23, face a near-identical dilemma. All three spent their teenage years in front of the cameras, becoming solidly identified with a single character.

For the last decade, Ron Weasley has battled some of the most dangerous and deadly magic menaces the movie world has to offer, from evil wizards to soul-sucking Dementors to giant forest spiders. But those dangers pale in comparison to his latest foe: Nazis.
No, this isn't some madcap fanfic or the untold story of Dumbledore's battle against Grindlewald (we wish) -- it's the first trailer for Rupert Grint's new World War II drama "Into the White." Looks like someone has officially graduated from Hogwarts.
Not that there was ever really any question about Grint's ability to put the iconic role of Ron Weasley behind him; after all, he's been making indie films like "Driving Lessons," "Cherrybomb" and "Wild Target" for years in an effort to expand his acting horizons. And they don't get much more expansive than "Into the White," which tells the story of a group of...

Robert Sheehan is famous in the UK for his role in the sci-fi show "Misfits," but he's quickly sneaking up on U.S. turf with roles in movies like "Season of the Witch" and indie rock 'n' roller "Killing Bono." Get the scoop on this floppy-haired Irish actor who's got folks across the pond swooning.
Age: 23
Hometown: Portlaoise, Ireland
What He's Done: The teens-behaving-badly drama "Cherrybomb," costarring Rupert Grint; "Season of the Witch"; the critically acclaimed "Red Riding" trilogy; and the wildly popular UK television show "Misfits."
What He's Doing Now: Sheehan plays Ivan McCormick, one of two brothers trying to get their rock 'n' roll on in Ireland. Unfortunately, their old friends' band is leaving them in the dust. Oh, and that band is U2. It's a comedy with a little bit of romance, thanks to the adorable Krysten Ritter, and it's got lots of rockin' to boot. It's...

Irish Comedian Dylan Moran & Jodie Whittaker Now On Board Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D'Sa, the husband and wife duo behind the Rupert Grint vehicle "Cherrybomb," pulled a major coup earlier this year when they managed to recruit Michael Fassbender, Steve Coogan and Robert Sheehan among others for "Good Vibrations," their biopic of Belfast music legend Terri Hooley. Things, however, have changed a bit since then, particularly for Fassbender who has since established himself as a bonafide tinseltown A-lister, capping it off with his Best Actor victory in Venice for Steve McQueen's "Shame." Either way, it looks likes there's…...

Rupert Grint has always been the comic relief when it comes to the Big Three actors in "Harry Potter," but with the final film opening in theaters Friday (July 15), he is ready to spread his wings and try out some new projects.
"Anything really different, really," Grint replied when MTV News asked him what his plans are next. "Playing the same character for 10 years really does give you this thirst for new things. I'm not sure I'm going to miss it. I am looking forward to this kind of newfound freedom. Just see where it takes me."
He certainly seems to be trying to get away from "Potter" as much as possible. Grint's next project is his anti-war film "Comrade," which began filming March 28 in Norway.

Subjects: Daniel Radcliffe, 21-year old English actor; Emma Watson, 21-year old English actress; and Rupert Grint, 22-year old English actor.
Date of Assessment: June 13, 2011
The Case(s): This week, I've decided to perform mini-assessments of a preliminary nature on the three main actors of the nearly-concluded Harry Potter film franchise. While the entire trio has only reached their early 20s in age, they've each been acting for over half of their lives, so it's worth a mild guessing game at whether or not they'll stick around in the long term. The main problem we're tackling here was adeptly described by Brian Prisco in his review of Welcome to the Rileys in reference to Kristen Stewart and James Gandolfini:
For most actors, getting a regular gig on a television show or a film series is a boon, because essentially you can make enough money that you will never have to work again.

For more than half Rupert Grint's 23 years, he has had another existence as Ron Weasley, Harry Potter's comedy sidekick. As the final film in the series is released, where to now for the number-two boy wizard?
Rupert Grint describes it as like watching a row of dominoes falling towards you, and when we emerge from a cellar bar in central London, climbing up to street-level Soho, it's clear he's caught it just right.
A few strides in the direction of his hotel and a face among a group of outdoor lunchers flinches in recognition, prompting other heads to turn and look. Quickly a chipper twentysomething is bounding across the road, dodging motorbikes, his cameraphone outstretched as if it's something Grint has mislaid. "Would you mind, Rupert, if we?" I'm sure this happens to other people with famous faces, but does it happen to quite such a degree?

No other time, no other place sees a greater concentration of the world's film journalists than the Cannes Film Festival. If you've got an announcement to make, Cannes is the when and where to make it. Before what looks like a pretty raucous week gets rolling tomorrow, I thought I'd gather notes on a few of the most interesting made so far.
The Hollywood Reporter's Scott Roxborough goes to work on the story that's probably made the biggest noise so far: "The creator of Antichrist and the helmer of Taxi Driver will collaborate on their next project. Danish director Lars von Trier and Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese are teaming up for a remake of The Five Obstructions, von Trier's 2003 documentary deconstructing the filmmaking process…. It's unclear which of Scorcese's films will form the basis of the Five Obstructions remake."

Hilarity peddler Steve Coogan rocked into stardom with "24 Hour Party People" and his portrayal of the British music scene's now legendary impresario, Tony Wilson. The Playlist (via ScreenDaily) reports that he's joined the cast of another UK music flick, this time about Belfast's godfather of punk, Terri Hooley.
Hooley's tale centers around the record store he founded in the early 70's called Good Vibrations, which naturally became a record label. The bands Hooley signed are now largely forgotten -- The Moondogs, Victim, The Outcasts, and The Shapes. But one night the highly influential John Peel got his hands on one of Hooley's acts and played their single on his infinitely popular radio show. The band was The Undertones, the song was "Teenage Kicks," and the rest is punk history.

Contrary to earlier speculation, Rupert Grint is not the man pictured smoking pot from a bong. As the photo, which was reportedly taken at a "Harry Potter" cast party, made its round online on Thursday, April 21, a representative for the Ron Weasley of the boy wizard series immediately reached out to E! News and offered clarification to the false rumor.
"This is categorically Not Rupert Grint. It is an impersonator/lookalike," Rupert's rep said. The rep also stated that the 22-year-old's camp are working to get the photo removed from Perez Hilton's blog, where the photo first came out. In shooting down the speculation, E! also noted that the red-haired man in the photo boasts built arms, while the actor is known for his lanky look.
Rupert will be seen as Ron for the last time when "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" opens in theaters in July.

"Harry Potter" star Rupert Grint might have been caught red handed getting high. Perez Hilton has recently posted a photo of someone, who looks just like the Ron Weasley of the boy wizard series, smoking from a bong.
Leaked out on Thursday, April 21, the picture was reportedly taken at a "Harry Potter" cast party. It is still unclear what substance 22-year-old Rupert was accused of smoking. There is yet comment released from the "Cherrybomb" actor's camp regarding the image.
If the photo is proven to be true, Rupert isn't the first young star to be hit with bong scandal. Back in December 2010, a video of Disney songstress Miley Cyrus smoking psychoactive plant Salvia from a bong surfaced. In the tape, she was seen giggling and babbling incoherently.
Months thereafter, Miley broke her silence about the scandal. She told Marie Claire magazine, "I'm not perfect... I made a mistake. I'm disappointed...

The countdown to the eighth and final "Harry Potter" reaches epic proportions this week with the April 15 DVD and Blu-ray release of "Deathly Hallows Part I." Friday's release date marks exactly three months before the finale hits theaters.
While many fans may be mourning the end of the film series, fans of the lead actors have reason to celebrate. The Trio (and Draco) all have signed on to several films recently, a couple of which come out later this year. They're already among the richest young actors in the world, but Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson don't have plans to fade into obscurity.

Michael Fassbender and his “Hunger” co-star Liam Cunningham are set to take supporting roles in "Good Vibrations", a biopic of Belfast music legend Terri Hooley reports CineEuropa via The Playlist.
Hooley founded the Good Vibrations record store from which a record label sprung and represented bands like The Undertones, The Moondogs, The Shapes and The Outcasts. Theater veteran Richard Dormer (”Five Minutes To Heaven”) will play Hooley.
"Cherrybomb" helmers Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa will direct from a script by Glenn Patterson and Colin Carberry, while David Holmes ("Ocean's Eleven," "Hunger") will provide the score. Shooting gets underway in Northern Ireland in August.

With extraordinary performances in movies like "Fish Tank," "Hunger," "Inglourious Basterds" and "Jane Eyre," plus big Hollywood pictures like "X-Men: First Class" and Ridley Scott's pseudo-"Alien" prequel "Prometheus," Michael Fassbender is officially on a roll.
Now, he's going to add a little rock to it.
According to CineEuropa, Fassbender, along with Liam Cunningham ("Clash of the Titans") and relative unknown Richard Dormer (he co-starred with Liam Neeson in "Five Minutes of Heaven") have joined the cast of "Good Vibrations," a biopic based on the life of Terri Hooley. Hooley was the founder of a record store in Belfast, Ireland called -- you guessed it -- "Good Vibrations," which later went on to evolve into a music label that started the careers of many a Irish punk rock band.
Dormer is set to play Hooley in the film, while Fassbender and Cunningham's roles are undetermined.
