- Robert is packing for a last-minute trip to Washington D.C. and Kitty wants to go with him because she is so distracted and worried about not being picked as adoption parents. Robert refuses and just tells her to keep busy. Justin asks Rebecca to come to his AA meeting where he will be celebrated for reaching 1 year of sobriety. She of course agrees. Nora wants someone to go with her to talk to the Lafferty's and when Saul refuses, she asks Kitty to come on some "errands" with her. Sarah has a job interview with a company called Greenatopia and Paige is unhappy that she may be going back to work and not spending as much time at home. Rebecca wants to surprise Justin by inviting both Tommy and Kevin to his meeting since it was those two that were locked in a room with him during his intervention last year. They both reluctantly agree. Sarah is extremely nervous about her interview and Tommy tries to calm her down. She needn't have worried however as the interview goes great. Kitty finds out from the radio that Robert is not in fact in D.C. but is in the Middle East and is angry that Robert didn't tell her the truth. The Lafferty's are not home and whilst waiting, Nora and Kitty get into a fight. George Lafferty comes home and sees them going at it. When Nora tells him about William and Connie's (George's late wife) affair, he is understandably angry at her for slandering the dead. Meanwhile, outside the AA meeting, Tommy and Kevin are both late and small barbs develop into a fist fight. It spoils Rebecca's surprise when they noisily barge in during Justin's speech. Paige suggests that Sarah do some "extra credit" to help her get the job, Sarah does but is angry and disappointed when she drops it off and finds out that the company is just starting up and is run from a dingy little flat where both Kyle and Ethan (the interviewers and owners) live. Nora is upset that the meeting with George did not go well and screams to the desert that she hates William. She then has a heart-to-heart with Kitty about Robert. When Kitty checks her voice-mail, she is shocked but thrilled to get a message informing her that she and Robert have been chosen as parents by a woman in Missouri. Justin has had enough of the Tommy/Kevin feud and stages an intervention of his own, convincing them to try pretending they do not hate each other. Rebecca thanks Justin for inviting her to the meeting (and consequently into that part of his life) by giving him a key to her apartment. Kyle knocks on Sarah's door and begs for her to forgive them because he and Ethan think she is perfect for the job at Greenatopia. Sarah agrees to take the job after Kyle agrees to her terms- one of which is working from her home. Kitty informs Robert excitedly over the phone that they have been picked as parents and he too is thrilled. Nora answers an insistent ringing of her doorbell and is shocked to find George Lafferty on the stoop. He has been thinking and realises that since Nora does not look like a sadist, there must be another reason why she drove all the way out to Bakersfield to see him. Upon asking, he understands that it must be something to do with his son Ryan.
