Yea it was good

Wasn't blown away as far as season premieres for Curb go. Some of the casting was off. We've absolutely been spoiled. That said, I think we're in for a pretty good season. The setups look very promising.

Just got the movie connection

Warning: Spoilers
Intentionally or not, Larry David has mirrored a casting decision made for West Side Story (2021).

A character arc begins in this episode concerning the casting of Maria Sofia (Keyla Monterroso Mejia) as Martha Lifshitz, an unlikely choice to portray "a Jewish girl from Brooklyn who's an aspiring ballerina" in his semi-biographical series, Young Larry.

The 2021 remake of West Side Story features Rachel Zegler in the role of Maria, the Latina love interest.

It would be the first screen appearance for both Maria Sofia and Rachel Zegler.

A couple of old Jewish creatives busting down cultural walls in their own unique ways? Certainly in the case of Larry, however reluctantly.

Exciting to see.

Finally , something decent. Nice to see Larry back at it. With best partner in crime Leon. Great duo. Been a amazing series. Loved it from season 1 to date. If you like sarcastic humor. You will love this show. Good and clever writing. Great topics. Cant wait for season 11. Only issue is HBO/MAX. If there going to make us pay all these fees. We should get to watch when we like. Not when they say we can have a piece. If they keep making streaming. Into network cable. Verse do the right thing. As much as I love this show. I wont support that model. Not from hbo , amazon , hulu or netflix. What there doing is trash. There trying to ruin streaming. By making it into a more controlled. Version of a ancient system. Charging us new and higher fees along the way. While taking away more features. RIGHT! But awesome job Larry David and Curb Cast & Crew.

What a great start!

I'm shaky with the first episodes of comedy series, they can sometimes come out of the gate slow, but not this one! Larry is back and as good as ever. Between the plopping, the glass, what a start to season 11. Can't wait for Sunday's!

Television Perfection

Enjoy it while we still have it. This show is as good as it gets. Never fails to hit the spot. Brilliant start.

From Netflix execs to Leon continuing to make swearing an artform.

There's been a lot to unpack in the world since the last season and LD is the man to do it.

Larry is losing character....
sumtim3s00n25 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When did he become so cowardly and meek. He was always nonchalant and antagonistic and now he lets himself be exploited without even the slightest opposition? In previous seasons Leon would help him out to trick the taco dude or he would do some scheme. Probabily lose funnily but TRY at least. FFS he opened up a spite coffee shop.

And also to be so scared of such a ridiculous suit before even talking to a lawyer or someone. It is so stupid, the writing was always silly but Larry acted at least with common sense to a large degree.

And that 6 k that he was owed. In previous seasons there would be some sort of a twist or Larry doing some silly things trying to get it back.

But this seasons, its all 100% linear. He gets extorted, he gets on his knees and gives up.

He is owed money, he basically, except debates it a bit, surrenders immediately.

Not the Larry we knew... this is like Diet Larry or Larry light or sth. I really hope the show is not losing its edge due to the woke insanity that has destroyed everything.

Larry David never fails to impress with fresh new scripts
joebondo26 October 2021
If you're a fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm, you won't be disappointed. Larry finds himself in the usual socially awkward situations and a great supporting cast as usual, Jeff, Susie, Leon & Albert Brooks. Jon Hamm returns for an appearance and Larry's dating life never fails to be interesting, this time with "Kill Bills" Lucy Liu.

A thoroughly entertainment episode.

Strong start!
rossichik27 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As usual being a massive fan every first episode of any of my favourite shows I watch makes me nervous cos I have high expectations for my favourites, this being definitely up there in my all time top shows...

And this absolutely smashed my expectations out of the park, from the opening of the thief, to Susie plopping- She definitely plopped!

To unlucky-in-love Larry losing out Lucy's attraction, to Larry's subtle self deprecation of Jon Hamm's unfavourable test audience reaction of his representation of Larry's character, the list goes on.

Larry's definitely started out strong with plenty of story lines set up for the following episodes I can't wait, it's prettyyyy prettyyyy prettyyyy pretty good.

The Five Foot Fence
bobcobb30131 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It is still funny, but it is just not as sharp as the show once was. It also feels like they're forcing season long story arcs. Usually Larry could come up with something better than a Netflix show for the Season 11 story.

As you can see from other 10s
MrMagoo8229 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As you can see from other 10s the true fans know this is an all day ten, not only the best show of all time but this was a brilliant tribute and I won't lie, I actually never knew Albert was Funkhousers brother!

If you're new and don't quite get it just remember this is improvised too! Yes ! Natural organic comedy !!! Unbelievable tekkers... I'm off to my live funeral to celebrate.

Larry phoning it in
mcantelon12 December 2021
As a season premiere this doesn't bode well for the rest of the season. The episode feels stale, like a rehash of older episodes but missing a spark. Everything feels slightly off and uninspired. Larry David is one of the funniest guys on television but if this season's as lackluster as this episode then I'm going to sit it out.

Not his best, but good
nncxcjtp25 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's a good start, but it's not like his original stuff.. the society we live in today is what most likely made Larry David hold back on plenty of his satire jokes like the old days.. but nope! I'm sure he's afraid of being thrown to the wolves if he crosses comedy boundaries so nobody's feelings get hurt.. haha.

Not one laugh the entire season
Ebubb15 January 2022
This has to be the worst seasons so far. I enjoyed the other seasons but this one is just boring and unfunny. The plot goes nowhere in parts, the writing is poor. Some of the episodes are down right offensive, even for a fan of this show! Probably time to pack it up Larry. WORST SEASON EVER.

This was a decent premier I feel like this season going to fall flat after the 2nd episode but that's not for sure this was still a great premier and a great start to this season.

Missing that Curb Appeal
wookietower2 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Catching up on this show in anticipation of the final season coming out soon and after what I thought was a much improved season in 10, they start out with a lackluster effort in season 11. It doesn't help that it features one of my least favorite actor/comedians in Albert Brooks who I cannot for life of see what has made him such a longtime Hollywood star. I cannot think of a single Brooks movie I have ever seen that I thought was funny (his best appearance was on the Simpsons.

The fake funeral story line and the COVID hoarding was just so not funny/ I am also starting to find Jeff to be an absolutely repulsive character.

Awful...
szzmdkdc30 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Just read the title. I wish I would have had onset dimentia or have walked into a glass door myself so I could forget I ever watched this mockery of a once great show. Shallow, with way too many pointless subplots. In most seasons of this show the general plot line for the ensuing season is laid out. In this opening episode who knows whats going on. Larry a character who once had a backbone (whether right or wrong) seems like a castrated version of himself. All the characters seemed placed or forced. (The scene at the golf club with the two guys?) Nothing about this show has the flow it used to. The Albert Brooks memorial with the Covid hoarder ordeal seemed like it should have been an ending to a normal episode (albeit a very awful ending with no buildup) the. Let's knock out these poor celebrity cameos and get some real material. Ehhhh Larry.... I'm done typing this review. What a joke...a very flat joke.

Way below LD standard
EvanKevelson26 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Every single episode in season 10 except Mocha Joe with the FBI movies, was 3 times the laughs.

Albert Brooks Memorial wasn't funny, not the hoarding. The money lending wasn't funny at all. Jon Ham was ok if you saw last year. The walking into the door and ensuing conversation was the only really LD laughing out loud moment.

I'm generous going above a 5 for this episode.

An opener with minimal Suzy, no Vince, no Richard, no Ted- no real LD nemesis to give it the kick it needed.

3/38 minutes of Larry laughs.

Should have been titled "The Virtue Signaler."
heyitsadam14 December 2021
I have been a huge fan of the series since day one, but now he's just using the scripts to get his little digs in on the political opposition, and that has never been more evident than watching this episode. The running joke is an executive at Netflix is named "Don Junior." Jeff and Larry comment that the name Don Junior has been ruined forever. I'm sorry I just don't get it... How is the name been ruined?

I don't recall Don Junior sleeping with his dead brother's wife. I don't recall Don Junior having a baby with an Arkansas stripper. I don't recall Don Junior getting thrown out of the military for drugs. Why is his name ruined? And why would a comedic genius like Larry David skip over such obvious humor when the name "Hunter" would've worked so much better and made so much more sense.

But no... We have to get in our little digs at the red hat people. Just like he did a few seasons ago. Everything woke turns to _____. It appears we are on our way.

Dissapointed
romuluscolinpop25 October 2021
This is not Larry David we knew. Maybe they sacrificed the first episode of the season in order to set up the rest. I hope that's it.

You can tell this was filmed last year as they pick on something (the COVID stashers) which was so hype last year, but this wouldn't hold up in time, heck, many people forgot about it and we're in 2021.

There were lots of premises in there from which he could have extracted comedy gold, instead they focused only on conflicts this episode (thinking the public would be amused by just that)

Awful
tp-255278 November 2021
Nothing funny, twisty or special about this episode. Larry called in on this one. Full of the same old stereotypes, The rich Jew providing for the black man who uses the F-word in every sentence, and mocking Christians.

Just a sad episode. Hopes it gets much better, because this episode was horrible to watch. Not a single laugh in the entier episode and the Albert Brooks premise was simply ridiculous.
