Ok-ish episode but not great
rmason20054 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ok-ish episode but not great.

The sniper scene was fun to watch and i am probably looking abit deep at the end of the days its an entertainment show but..

They are being took out one by one by a single sniper in a very dense wood at close range (not happening irl without being located quickly especially with an unsilenced weapon). Then Daryl turns to Maggie and says "Single shooter only three shots and reload". Then maggie flanks the shooters location and finds an abandoned high capacity rifle with no silencer.. then they move on to find the shooter, who is some big guy who eventually tells them "pope marked you" in the worse accent i have ever heard think they were going for British but ended up sounding Russian. Before blowing himself up with a grenade which inexplicably turns him into blood and small chucks, without anyone else taking hard cover. Either its the most powerful grenade ever made by a wide margin that has no blast radius or clearly the writer has absolutely no concept of how firearms or what the power of a grenade is. Not even going to touch on the new guy in the stupid mask. Been waiting a long time for this episode sadly it did disappoint.

Maggie and Glens boy is a good casting, but why was he inexplicably sitting a tree not far for the earlier mentioned slaughter but yet no one seen him and he seems completely oblivious to what was going.. again makes no sense

Wow

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is one of the 6 additional episodes, so it's not a completing to the story "It's just about maggie". Loved the episode, it was very good! The soundtracks: so occasion to the scenes Maggie: Nice return and I felt like the true return instead of ep16, we knew more about Maggie's people. I wished Maggie and Negan meeting be better but I think we will see Maggie and Negan more in the next episodes The acting:pretty nice and I Liked the talking between daryl and maggie Herschel:a simple role, but a nice addition to the series and the directing become better.

Is just maggie episode and all the focus is on Maggie, so don't expect something bigger

Covid filming done right
marymcfarland-018661 March 2021
This past year, I've seen some garbage filming because of restrictions and such. TWD just raised the bar. This episode, while esthetically was a bit different, still encompassed the heart and grit of the program. PreCovid, I'd have rated 7. MidCovid...10. Well done TWD.

After you've read the paid-for and bot reviews...

Awful!

You can definitely tell that all the skilled writers have been replaced by amateurs.

3/4 of this boring episode could be fast forwarded. Filler, unimportant, uninteresting dialogu.

After years of the whisperers' masks, a new masked character appears - Jason! And, a big eyeroll for "the Reapers" ...lol! Seriously?! And, why wouldn't they grab that guy's gun for themselves?!

So long overdue, that this has finally been canceled

Why?
Tranquillocat27 February 2021
I want 41 minutes of my life back. I don't know why I still watch, I guess I'm clinging to what I remember loving about the early seasons. This show is literal garbage now.

The widow is alive, guns a-blazing!
Premium-TV22 February 2021
A brilliant, emotional episode starring Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) gives us a solid start to the long-awaited 10C, which will act as a bridge between seasons 10 and 11. Covid-19 restrictions taken into account, this was a pleasant surprise.

We finally get a reunion with Maggie who in recent years has spent time in Georgie's community with her son Hershel J.R. I was very pleased with how the writers gave us insight into the time she was away, but at the same time brought out her reactions to the aftermath of The Whisperers' ravages and destruction. New characters were introduced, and these seem interesting so far. There's also a specific action sequence towards the end of the episode which was very well-executed.

A big plus in this episode is the good dialogue between the characters. Angela Kang and her team have performed very well in this field throughout the season, and this episode is no exception. I'm also very interested in finding out more about who this new group that was introduced is, which I think will be explored further in the coming episodes. There is a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks!

A great intro to 10c with great daryl and maggie moments. Wish we could more of negan though. Nothing extraordinary but no complaints either just another good episode.

A solid introduction to 10C
jorgehierro22 February 2021
A perfectly balanced premiere with a focus on character development, build up, reunions and some action. The Walking Dead has changed from film to digital which was unexpected for me, but which still turns out to work quite well! Many good moments to note here, if TWD continues on this track further in 10C, then this seems very promising.

Just OK
IndridC0ld27 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Well, we see "little glen" and he looks like his daddy. Did Maggie really stick him with the name Hershel? Kid is born into the zombie apocalypse and still can't catch a break. The episode is all about Maggie and her back story. Sounds like all the groups she founded after she left just got killed. She, of course, meets up with Negan, and that's a bit tense. Otherwise, its just your average episode.

Finally Maggie is back! A nice start to season 10C with an emotional soundtrack, and exciting scenes like the one between Negan and Maggie, hope the rest of the season will be on the same pattern.

Honest review as a fan and a common man Warning: Spoilers
Ok...I Love the Walking dead a lot, But this had to be said...

Positives

Maggi's acting Meeting Hershel Cinematography and Music (Fresh and appealing)

Negatives

  • They literally survive a grenade blast by ducking down like 4 feet away from it without a single minor injury on any of them.
  • So Hershel survived all of that by sitting on a tree,
When that Sniper guy had such a good aim and vision.
  • What was the masked guy even scared of that was supposed to be understood by us? He literally was the bravest one in the previous episode.
  • Im sorry but the walkers need to be more scarier than random people cuz it's the "Walking Dead"

I love the score on this episode!
xxxNomadicxxx22 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode brought the drama back to the series. The score helps drive that drama home during the dialogue. It's not the usual pointless dialogue that we are use to were everyone circle talk and not say nothing. Mag actually told a story that gives you chills. As usual though, there is another scary group that emerges is so mysterious that it has chased Mag back to Alexandria.

Negan, as usual, limited screen time, but still makes a huge impact.

Welcome back Lauren Cohan
braedynh1 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The first episode of 10C was solid. I think it's the perfect time for Maggie's return since Michonne has left and a new arc in the show begins. The show is lacking big characters so her return is most welcome

It was nice to hear some throwbacks about Glenn and Maggie's family and how she deals with her son asking questions about his father. The reaper storyline that's been introduced was good but I hope we don't get stuck in another war against this group, we need something new from the show.

I think Kelly got some much needed development as she hasn't really brought much to the show yet, she's kinda just been there with forced side storyline's but her story this episode felt real, relatable and she was much more likeable which is good to see.

Maggie's Return
TF02_24 February 2021
First of all. Thanks for this amazing episode even though it was shot in the pandemic and couldn't have most of the cast members in the episode yet it still turned out to be a solid episode. The soundtrack is great as always, i liked the dialogue between the characters, Lauren Cohan's acting was on point. An excellent and entertaining episode in general and a great return for The Walking Dead

Maggie, Her Group and The Reapers
claudio_carvalho13 January 2024
Maggie learns that Hilltop was destroyed, and Carol tells her that she released Negan that joined The Whisperers to kill Alpha. There is tension between Maggie and Negan increases and Carol heads to Alexandria. Maggie goes with Daryl, Kelly and her friends Cole and Elijah to bring her son Hershel and the rest of her group to Alexandria. When they are arriving at the muster point, they see fire. They find the bodies of two of her friends, the place burned down and Hershel and Maggie's group missing. Now the team will cross the dangerous woods trying to find Hershel and the missing persons.

"Home Sweet Home" is a kind of filler episode, with Maggie presenting her son to Daryl. The apparently new danger, The Reapers, seems to be very well armed and the tension between Maggie and Negan is promising. The saga of Eugene and his group is not shown in this episode. My vote is seven.

Great
brianjensson97922 February 2021
The first of six additional in-between-quels. 'Home Sweet Home' was a rather slow, character building episode, but there were also plenty of suspenseful moments. It felt good to see Maggie back in action! Soundtracks were exceptional as always. Great episode.

Sloppy but decent episode
grlym-4684920 March 2021
The restart of TWD is rough. This is a good episode. But very unfocused. And the next 3 episodes quickly get worse and worse

The producers have given up. They are just fulfilling a contract or squeezing a few more nickels out. Cause this season is a bust. Too many key crew have bailed on show

Pre-Covid and I would have just turned it off and quit the show

I'm glad it's back!
benmcmorran-311033 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is my favourite show on television and I'm excited to see what they explore with the extra episodes of season 10. This episode showed great promise in storytelling with an interesting new group, returning characters and really nice moments for fans of the show.

HOWEVER, this is probably the most rushed episode I've seen of the show. The dialogue isn't very good, events in the episode just seem to happen. The characters are very stupid. (An example of this is when Daryl just begins to walk around the woods fully knowing a sniper is watching him) I don't find this episode particularly bad, in fact I quite liked it but it seems rushed and I think the episodes that follow will be as well.

I hope I'm wrong haha

This was such an awsome episode top notch acting top notch dialogue awsome action and top notch score. They werent lying when they said these scripts are amazing i was glued to the screen the entire 40 min not even one dull moment . The quality was so so good never seen walking dead like this (feels cinematic as they removed grainy effect) .Felt like a classic walking dead episode , so hyped for 10C cant wait till next week for more.

A decent start but there's room for improvement
diamondsfan1 March 2021
After the events of the previous episode this episode felt like it didn't do too much I mean don't get me wrong there are some really great moments but this episode just felt kinda different it just felt it was an episode to bring back Maggie and catch up on what she has done over the events of seasons 9 and mostly 10 but I guess covid kinda changed some things so I can't fully blame the show for this I just hope the next episode improves for what I will say is a average walking dead episode

The Beginning of the end...
mhorg201816 March 2021
This was a terrible episode. Maggie shows up, and doesn't say ANYTHING about the Reapers until their all in the crapper? Three new characters are introduced just to die? Writing on the Walking Dead has gotten lazier and lazier. Plotholes everywhere - in the comic they still had bullets right up to the end. Here they aren't making them anymore? Why? The entire bit with the grenade was ridiculous. Does anyone do any research into weapons? Why did this guy just blow himself up? He had the drop on everyone - including woodsman darryl who, once again, gets ambushed in the woods! Maggie crouches and avoids getting blown up? Why didn't the guy jump on her and pull the pin? For that matter, why did he wait four minutes while she was in a trap? TERRIBLE episode.
