Quentin Tarantino talks to director Enzo Castellari about his 1978 cult action classic The Inglorious Bastards. Tarantino reveals that he first heard about the movie from a review in Variety and saw it for the first time on television. Tarantino also points out how Castellari's film was influenced by Sam Peckinpah's Cross of Iron and praises Castellari on his dramatic use of slow motion in which all the sound except for the music gets dropped out. Castellari talks about rewriting the original script by adding more action and how the castle escape set piece had to be restaged after the Italian government confiscated all the guns that were being used as props in the picture. Tarantino relates a similar anecdote on how he redid a scene in the second Kill Bill film. Tarantino also discusses writing the script for his Inglorious Bastards movie. Best of all, Tarantino tells a great story about meeting Fred Williamson in person for the first time at a gas station in the 1980's. The warmth and mutual affection these guys have for each other makes this conversation an absolute delight to watch.
