- Elodie and Elias have been living by themselves ever since most of the human race has disappeared from the face of the earth. However, with the unexpected arrival of Gabriel, a boy a bit older than themselves, their harmonic relationship is about to come to an end.—Jacoby, Max
- In a depopulated world after a non specified war we find the teenage twin couple Elodie and Elias (Catherine Steadman and Olly Alexander) living in a secluded mansion left by their parents. They lead a quiet and simple life, growing their own food, swimming in a lake nearby, reading books and playing chess by candlelight. Their relationship is very tender. One day they find a wounded man lying on a road close to their home. They bring him into their house and Elodie cleans and dresses his wounds. Elias is worried when he finds a gun among his things. In the morning the stranger tells them that his name is Gabriel (Andrew Hawley) and that he had been wounded by a man who shot at him. He is heading north to get back to his mother's home where he lives. He decides to stay for a while to recover and while Gabriel and Elodie fall in love with each other tension between the twins starts to grow. Gabriel wants to leave by car and Elias shows him a military base where he finds an old jeep that he can fix again. Gabriel and Elodie sleep together and Elias feels lost and jealous and is afraid of losing his sister's love. Elodie confesses to Gabriel that she slept with her brother once. Although Elias is against the plan of leaving their house and going with Gabriel, they all end up in the jeep driving to the north on empty roads. One night Elodie tells the boys that she is pregnant and Gabriel asks her by whom. After a while they arrive in Gabriel's home town. There are destroyed tanks in the abandoned streets, residuals of military road blocks, straying dogs, but no signs of human life. When they finally get to Gabriel's house they find his mother dead. They bury her in the backyard and Gabriel leaves the house in desperation. The last take shows the twins leaving in the jeep and Gabriel's distorted body lying on the ground beneath a high bridge.
