As was first reported by Variety, the Emmy-nominated director, producer, and writer, Catherine Cyran, passed away at the age of 59 on December 24, 2022, another tragic loss too soon from cancer.
Cyran's name may not be easily recognizable, but her legacy will live on in a varied career spanning multiple mediums and genres. After graduating from Harvard and working for the Royal Shakespeare Company for two years, Cyran got her start in the world of cinema under the tutelage of legendary B-movie producer Roger Corman, having gotten her start as an executive assistant. She would later go on to produce and write the screenplay for "Slumber Party Massacre III," "Dead Space" starring Bryan Cranston, "Uncaged" starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, "Fire on the Amazon" with Sandra Bullock, the Independent Spirit Award-nominated "Kiss Me A Killer," and ghost-wrote "Frankenstein Unbound," Corman's last feature as a director.

Exclusive: We’ll be seeing more of Mark Blaine in The Flash. Jon Cor, who recurred as Blaine (aka Chillblaine) in seasons 7 and 8, has been upped to a series regular for the upcoming ninth and final season of the CW series.
Per the official Season 9 character description: “A charming rogue obsessed with cryogenic technology, Mark Blaine gave the Flash and his allies a run for their money as the villainous Chillblaine. But after falling in love with Frost, he finally began to show a softer side. Now, as the new season begins, the memory of Frost’s shocking demise will haunt Mark as he sets out on his journey to become a hero.”
Showrunner Eric Wallace earlier talked with Deadline about the Season 8 cliffhanger finale in which Blaine was met with an unseen character emerging from his Consciousness Resurrection Chamber, leaving viewers with questions about what is in a mysterious box.

Christmas in July will return to Hallmark bringing Crashing Through The Snow, starring Amy Acker and Warren Christie, to the lineup.
The annual summer movie celebration will kick off Friday, July 9 and will run until Sunday, July 31. Crashing Through The Snow will make its Hallmark debut Friday, July 10 at 9 p.m. The film centers on Maggie (Acker), who joins her ex-husband Jeff (Kristian Brunn) and his girlfriend Kate (Brooke Nevin) for a Christmas getaway in Aspen, where she meets Kate’s brother, Sam (Warren Christie).
Crashing Through the Snow is from Through the Snow Pictures Inc. Stan Spry, Eric Woods and Ryan M. Murphy are executive producers. Anthony Fankhauser is co-executive producer.

Rachael Leigh Cook will star in the Netflix original film “A Tourist’s Guide to Love,” Variety has learned exclusively.
The film is based on an original idea of Cook’s with Eirene Donohue set to write the screenplay. In the film, after an unexpected break up, a travel executive (Cook) accepts an assignment to go undercover and learn about the tourist industry in Vietnam. Along the way she finds adventure and romance with her Vietnamese expat tour guide when they decide to hijack the tour bus in order to explore life and love off the beaten path.
Cook will produce in addition to starring. Jim Head of Head First Productions will also produce, with Joel S. Rice and Lydia Storie of Muse Entertainment executive producing.
This is not the first Netflix film Cook has worked on in recent years. She previously starred in and produced the film “Love, Guaranteed” at the streamer.

Hallmark Channel is getting us in the holiday spirit a little early this year. On Sept. 23, the network unveiled its full movie lineup for the upcoming season, and it's stacked. Just like last year, Hallmark will release 40 original films as part of Hallmark Channel's "Countdown to Christmas" and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' "Miracles of Christmas." While Hallmark alums like Lacey Chabert and Tamera Mowry-Housley will star in a few films, a few stars will be making their Hallmark debut, including Aaron Tveit, Janel Parrish, Jeremy Jordan, and Marisol Nichols.
