Exciting, Unexpected and Emotional
Sjamanen4 December 2020
Probably the best episode yet! Finally NOT just another "side quest"... all I can say is that these 30 minutes had everything. It was exciting, emotional and wildly different to the other episodes... I cant wait for the continuation to this!

This is what Star Wars canon is meant to be

Thank you Filoni, thank you Favreau, these past 2 episodes have been unbelievably spectacular. The fan service while remaining consistent in storytelling, and still progressing the plot, has been truly appreciated.

I did not expect to see so much in one episode. This is what Star Wars should be. The shortest episode but somehow was absolutely packed with surprises!! Amazing!!! This show just keeps getting better and I'm so excited for the final two episodes.

It's enough to make a grown man cry

Thought The Mandalorian peaked last episode and then they RKO us out of nowhere with this masterpiece. If this doesn't convince you that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau should be in charge of all things Star Wars now I don't think anything will.

The revelation in this episode
caden_goff4 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was even more action packed then I expected it to be with reveals, battles, and even getting to see fan favorites returning. This episode also reveals that Almec in the clone wars really was a liar and that Jango was a foundling making him to be a true Mandalorian effectively also making Boba a true Mandalorian.

Dropped jetpack was lost?
eunbi05304 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After Boba's demand for Mando to drop his jetpack, why didn't he put it back when Boba and Fennec went to fight the Stormtroopers? This seems like intentional bad writing for the Darktroopers flee with Grugo, would have been better to have one of those Darktroopers to damage Mando's jetpack than whatever the writers decided here.

Great episode with one exception....

Warning: Spoilers
I really love this episode. It was action packed from front to back. The only criticism I would have is with Boba getting Mando to lay down the jet pack. It was a poor choice to move the plot along. However great to feel like Star Wars again!!!

Good Episode - Disappointed with Lazy Writing Choices
jaymcdaniel4 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER ALERT:

While I enjoyed this episode, It was great seeing Boba back in action, I was a little disappointed by the lazy writing choices when it came to Mando's Jetpack.

1: It makes no sense for Boba to tell Mando to remove his jetpack, it only serves as a way for The Empire to take the child at the end.

2: There's no reason why Mando couldn't pick up the Jetpack during the battle. Plus we learned back in Chapter 10 (The Passenger) that Mando can call his Jetpack to him using his gauntlet.

And it probably wouldn't have been hard to fix this plot hole, we've seen Jetpacks get damaged before (just ask Boba).

I don't want it to seem like I hated this episode, but The Mandalorian has had pretty solid writing so far, so I am kind of disappointed to see such a large slip-up.

The Tragedies
Avery-WanSacritic12 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is titled "The Tragedy" and is actually a fitting title. However, there are multiple tragedies, so then again, perhaps the title should of been "The Tragedies". Let's break down some of the main tragedies I witnessed. (Side Note: This is a negative review supported by facts and common sense. So, if you don't like the truth and just want to enjoy this entertaining episode as it is, avert your attention.)

First of all, the real tragedy is the utter obliteration of the beloved Razor Crest (which took quite the beating in the beginning of the season and was recently repaired, not to mention). That was a tragedy, but jokes aside, the tragedy referred to in the title is Grogu (or Baby Yoda, Kid, the Child, which ever suites you) kidnapped by the ever-so intimidating Dark Troopers. Yeah, yeah, we all know the team will get Grogu back, but it is indeed still tragic!

Since we are on this subject, what about the tragedy of the Dark Troopers? No intense battle sequence? For the anticipation rising for these menacing killers, the first time the audience sees them in action, they leave as quick as they came. I'm not saying that's the only time the audience will see of them, but for their first time seen in live-action, they should of thrown a few punches before blasting off.

Why send the expensive Dark Troopers to do a stormtrooper's job. One, stormtroopers don't have jetpacks (or do they? Hint, hint) so exfil would have been more tasking. Second, stormtroopers can't be trusted to get anything done! Just within this episode, they got massacred by a dead markswoman and a hobo with a stick (Side Note: no offense to Boba Fett's incredible fighting skills and live-action comeback. In addition, all of his battle sequences are the reason for my high rating). Their aim is the typical Star Wars logic, since they can't hit a single living target except when: A) the targets are side/background/unimportant characters and B) the target is Din Djarin in his beskar armor. Seriously? This is the second time (I think) the audience has seen stormtrooper accuracy go from 0% to 200% when they are shooting at Djarin's armor. As cool as it is witnessing him getting shot up without a scratch, it is utterly ridiculous logic. Need I mention the fact that they have blasters but instead charge at a markswoman to melee her! I truly do enjoy the Star Wars universe but this is getting out of hand.

I won't even get into how Djarin made a fool out of himself trying to break Grogu free of his force trance. Therefore, I'll conclude with the other way Djarin made a fool out of himself. The last tragedy I'll talk about is the tragedy that caused the rest of the tragedies. It is by far the worst plot hole and screenwriting I know of, as compared to the rest of the series. That blasted jet pack. The whole reason for the following events was because of that jet pack. Why did Boba Fett ask him to take it off? That was an awkward thing to do. Why didn't Djarin reacquire it? The audience has seen him control it which his wrist controls. Did he simply forget about it? "Hmm. Golly! I wish I had a quicker way getting back to Grogu before he is taken." What a fool. This is completely unbelievable writing. It's not impossible to go with this plot such as the jet pack was temporarily damaged or his wrist controls were fried but the way the plot was executed, I cannot stress enough about how poorly it was done. Like I referenced, as seen with the other episodes, Jon Favreau has done an amazing job at writing this series. Perhaps there is a deleted scene that fills this plot whole or there is some grand explanation for why Boba Fett even uttered his command to take off the jet pack.

I apologize for this rather lengthy review but it is an utmost importance to bring these errors to the surface. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with feeding us this garbage amongst what has been-and understandably is-a delicious series.

Smart
felipe-166504 December 2020
Very smart episode, not a filler, but also not a "blockbuster episode". Perfectly sets up for the last two with great action mixed with the formation of a promising new alliance. A story made by Star Wars people for Star Wars people. This is the way.

Warning: Spoilers
IMDb need to revamp their rating system, this series just keeps getting better and better and better each week, when you consider it started out been the best original series on Disney+ the quality hasn't dipped. I rate an episode 10 stars then a better episode comes along I want more stars

Awesome

Warning: Spoilers
Boba Fett! Slave 1! Razor crest blown to pieces! Grogu making connection to the force! Dark troopers! Grogu bashing storm troopers! Grogu captured! OMG a lot happened in this short action packed episode. A few flaws in the script, though. Mando leaving his jetpack while he can remote control it (probably to allow the dark troopers to capture Grogu), storm troopers falling like autumn leaves without doing any harm themselves, the shuttles not engaging in the battle when the storm troopers are obviously losing the battle, Wen running the crest of a hill when fired upon from the side (just jump down the slope...?), storm trooper to keep standing in the way of a falling rock, the light cruiser not engaging Slave 1 when approaching... Lots of little misstakes. However, epic episode to watch. Keep 'm coming!

Well paced and made for true fans

Greetings from Lithuania.

I kinda envy to those real Star Wars fans because this show and especially last few episodes delivered more story and real Star Wars lore then last 3 movies combined. You have old classic characters returning in their best form and leaving to wish more. Even as not a big Star Wars fan myself i'm enjoying this show so far very much.

Boba Freaking Fett yall. What great choreography from this episode. Seeing Fennec Shand survived is interesting. Boba really tuned up those stormtroopers. Rest in piece razor crest. Who was Grogu reaching out to?? Moff Gideon now has captured his "test subject". 10/10 from me.

Another very strong chapter
eminemmile19974 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So after last weeks episode with Asokha, I wasn't so sure if they'd have another episode as good as the last chapter.

Never mind my concern, a very fun episode with some great action sequences and continuing the development of Grogu, Moff Gideon and of course the mando. That being said, there is one absolute stand out in this episode, being the ling awaited return of BOBA FETT. Love what they've done with the character after teasing his return, but my heart and jaw just dropped after seeing Slave 1 come on screen.

Favero, take a bow my good man

I'm worried people are getting lost in the hype
karlmorrissey235 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Everything that happened in this episode was amazing in theory. Boba Fett officially returning was incredible to see. I get the hype, I truly do.

But this episode made no sense. Whatsoever.

From Fett's reasoning to team up with somebody he doesn't know or care about by the end, to Fett asking Mando to set down his...jet pack?...before the Empire attack, to Stormtroopers charging a staff wielding Boba Fett who has nowhere to take cover instead of keeping a distance and blasting him. It all screams corner cutting and lazy writing for the purpose of: cool Boba Fett action and, most damningly, moving the story on as fast as humanly possible.

I adore Filoni and I think Favreau is great too. But that doesn't mean everything they touch is gold just because Boba Fett got his armour back...

Lazy poor writing
mau_mieres5 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When your character can avoid the conflict, the audience can as well. Mando could have easily stayed with the Baby on the top. And the jetpack being left behind felt a rushed solution to advance plot. And what about furthering the idea that Storm Troopers never convey any sense of danger in the audience. No matter how many there are. They ALWAYS miss target, only hitting when someone is wearing the mighty beskar.

I enjoy the visuals and art design in the series, but can't stand cheap storytelling. The only reason I have been watching, is because my wife loves Baby Yoda. Cheap treat to a great franchise.

Wow!
ckhr4 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Robert Rodriguez was the right person to direct this episode and man did he show off! There's not a dull moment in this episode. Action packed right from the start. This is probably one of the most expensive episodes from the series and it paid off. Temuera Morrison absolutely stole the show. The man was out here killing storm troopers like Rick Grimes killing walkers. This is easily the best episode in the series as of yet. That being said I hope they saved the best for last.

Why do they include big plotholes to destroy an epic episode?
kaczkahans4 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was great again but why do have to be so big plotholes in it? They are even bigger than last week. 1) Mando doesn't grab his jetpack when he sees the enemies. He even has a button so It comes back to him... That could have been fixed so easily. The Dark Troopers would have kicked his ass while trying to get Grogu back with his jetpack...

2) Boba's ship doesn't get destroyed although it could be seen by the Empire plus it flies so closely to their ship...

3) (I'm not completely sure) It looks a bit strange that Mando doesn't shoot at the stormtroopers right before Boba comes back with his armour.

But let's talk about the positive stuff too. 1)The relationship is shown and it has grown really much. I

2) Baby Yoda reaches through the Force. I want to know if he's reached out to someone. I still think he'll stay with Mando and not become a Jedi.

3) Boba Fett destroying everyone. Pure epicness.

4) Boba seems to have trouble with the Empire too. I have thought that he liked it.

5) Boba is an allie and not an enemy. I thought that for one second and then changed my mind thinking why would Disney do that? We're gonna see even more Boba badass action.

6) Moff Gideon. I think it's great that they don't overuse them. Every scene with him is very interesting.

7) Grogu using the Force. That's my boy. I hope he becomes strong again so he doesn't get sleepy all the time because that would suck.

I'm really interested if the Empire has been on Corvis too. I really would like to see Ahsoka help Din but that won't happen.

I've really wanted to give this episode a 10/10 but those big plotholes make it impossible although I've really enjoyed the episode.
