I agree with a prior review. Charlie just continues to be annoying, selfish and cruel. She wants to travel the world and when her husband agrees she sabotages him. What a weirdo!!! Plus she is looking manlier by the day....

Season 5 First Episode is Dull Go to 2nd fast

This episode is dreadfully depressing. Everything is negative. Episode 2 is GREAT. So move on through 1 and you'll be pleased.

Penny joins the dark side

Through the early seasons the character of Penny was a beacon of right in a sea of wrong. Maybe she got sucked into the whirlpool that was the Knight family, and the first episode of this season underscores how she has devolved. Early on she leaves Whyhope and finds a new love and fulfilling job in Sydney. But she returns because her son is depressed at leaving his former life. But then she carts him off to boarding school, meets a new man whom she marries, then leaves Whyhope again, and we discover her marriage is over. Her attraction to Hugh seems her downfall. At least there is hope that Meryl will finally pay for all her misdeeds (legal and ethical). And rock-solid Matt is pulled back into the black hole that is Charlie, who seems to have become mean spirited. At least Ajax and Hailey haven't really changed (they were always annoying.) Mainly watching this now out of curiosity and habit. And some pleasant actors.
