I think it would have been a fun series

I had no idea there were plans to adapt Buffy into an animated series.

Shame these plans never came to fruition, since the very little that could be seen here showed a lot of potential.

I personally liked the art style, reminiscent of the works of Bruce Timm.

Too bad the short basically ends on a bizarre cliffhanger, as the other reviewer comments. But some pilots are just mere glimpses of the actual content of a series, and very few of them show their whole potential from the get-go. (Case in point: The Gravity Falls pilot)

A missed opportunity for Fox animation, which seems focused only in making animated sitcoms about disfunctional families.

I personally think this could have been succesful. 2000s animation could have changed a lot if this had been greenlit.

Not really Buffy

Warning: Spoilers
The title of this 4-minute movie basically says it all. this 4-minute cartoon is an animated take on the successful Buffy television series that was done roughly one year after the live action series ended. They got basically all the actors from the "real" series voicing their animated selves in here, with one exception: Sarah Michelle Gellar was not on board to voice the title character. And while it looked okay early on, the ending was really strange with Buffy being abducted by a huge black dragon-like creature, but manages not to get swallowed and opens the beast's moth from inside before the film ends. This had really nothing to do with Buffy the way we know her. Good for them trying to take a different route as they could certainly not have topped the live action series anyway, but I don't think this was the right way to go. Anyway, maybe Buffy got swallowed after the film ended as this was not taken up for further episodes and stayed a one-time short movie. I am not too mad about it because judging from this one here, I would not have been too interested in more episodes. Not recommended.
