Like Barack Obama, the character he portrays in this series, O-T Fagbenle was also born to a black father and white mother.
The original title of the series was "First Ladies".
Pamela Adlon was originally cast as Nancy Howe before she had to drop out due to scheduling issues. She was replaced by Judy Greer.
Much criticism was directed at Viola Davis' mouth expressions in her interpretation of Michelle Obama which many found distracting. The same could be said about Gillian Anderson's portrayal of Eleanor Roosevelt which has the actress wearing a prosthetic over her teeth to convey Roosevelt's famous overbite. This too was felt by many to detract from Anderson's performance.
