All movies start out with a neutral rating, at 5 of 10. Most go positive in my ratings. This one is classified as a comedy, but I don't see what is funny about battling in-laws who descend uninvited upon newlyweds at their first Christmas. So admittedly, this is not my kind of movie. This is therefore now -1, @4 in my book.
Not only that, relatives they didn't even know arrive as well. -1, now @3.
Then, the strip club and getting arrested. -1, @2.
Then, the avaricious pastor at Christmas dinner. -1, @1.
The best parts are the shapely Brittany S. Hall as the wife, Monica, and her imaginings (siren, Betty Crocker) of hubby's (well-played by B.J. Britt) former girlfriend, Genesis (Essence Atkins in her directorial debut). +1, back @2.
Apologies all around at the end and a happy ending don't make up for a whole movie full of Christmas strife to put this back into the black. +1, ends @3. I attribute this rating more to the story than anything else.
