Voices was created for a 48-hour film festival. The entire short film was written, produced, cast, directed, and edited in just 48 hours. The production team consisted of George A. Johnson and his daughters, Grace Johnson & Hannah Johnson.
Being that this film was created for a specific film competition, there was a specific line of dialogue that had to be spoken by one of the characters: "You must be a risky person, why else would you not have a phone case?"
The underwater shot at the end was achieved by shooting Grace in super slow motion & blowing her hair with a hair dryer. The water effect was then added in post.
Grace Johnson is an incredibly gifted musician and singer, but she struggles with shyness. It took two days for George A. Johnson to convince her to take on the lead role in this film.
The tablet and phone were broken before filming, but a 60" flat screen television was harmed (destroyed) in the making of this motion picture.
