The tradition of having most of the music acts mime to prerecorded tracks reaches an unfortunate low point at the end of Hue & Cry's performance of "Labour of Love" when lead singer Patrick Kane accidentally drops his microphone.
As the show was broadcast live, Kane is forced to continue to "sing" into an empty microphone stand, before bowing and replacing the microphone with a mixture of good-natured humour and sheepish embarrassment. When the camera goes back to Terry, he's clearly amused by the incident.
