Learn more- The "Dancing with the Stars" results show kicked off with an encore performance of the season's first group dance. The '60s-inspired number went off about as well as it did Monday -- and that isn't necessarily praise.
After a fairly interesting look at the physical benefit and toll the competition puts on the stars, Natasha Bedingfield paid a visit to perform "Soulmate" while Lacey Schwimmer and Dmitry Chaplin hit the dance floor. Later, dancers from the upcoming Broadway show "Burn the Floor" showed off some moves. Much later in the evening, Celtic Woman performed.
Nearly halfway through the show, it was time to get to some results. First, a quick look back at the leaderboard:
Melissa & Tony: 29
Shawn & Mark: 28
Chuck & Julianne: 27
Gilles & Cheryl: 27
Lil' Kim & Derek: 26
Ty & Chelsie: 24
Lawrence & Edyta: 21
To the results: Host Tom Bergeron revealed, in no particular order, that Chuck Wicks & Julianne Hough, Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani, and Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas were safe for at least another week.
New competition:
Afton & Brent: Afton DelGrosso, the sister of Ashley DelGrosso from the first two seasons of "Dancing," was paired with Brent Borbon in the first round of a competition where viewers will determine which pro dancers will become part of the cast next season. The judges will give their opinions, but the decision rests in the hands of the voters. Len Goodman said Afton showed a little bit more flair than her competitor. Bruno Tonioli called Afton another rising star in the family. Carrie Ann Inaba said Brent has a great TV presence, but he should be careful not to let it outshine his technique. She then said Afton was beautiful to watch.
Anna & Mayo: Anna Demidova and Mayo Alanen were the next couple of pros to compete. Carrie Ann said it was beautiful and gorgeous and praised Mayos' distinguished character, and Anna's understated star quality. Len said they made the waltz look fantastic. Bruno said it was "a waltz at its classic best."
Snow & Genya: Snow Urbin and Genya Mazo, the brother of Season 1 winner Alec Mazo, were the final pro competitors of the night. Bruno said Genya was strong and brought out the best from his partner. He said Snow had the wrong name, "they should call you fire." Carrie Ann said Genya was supportive despite the fact that they were competing with each other. Len said Genya danced "like a real man," and said Snow had just the right balance of sexy and raunchy.
Back to the results: Tom announced the next safe couple was Lil' Kim & Derek Hough. Joining them in the land of safety were Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke.
That left Lawrence Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska and Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower -- not necessarily the bottom two, but, c'mon, who are they kidding?
In the end, the couple going home was ... Lawrence & Edyta.
