A charming half black girl (Eloise Joseph) was coming home late at night when a boy bumped into her with hands full of blood: a tramp lied on the ground, beaten to death by an iron bar. The ambulance drove him to the hospital, where doctors managed to save his life, even if probably he won't be able to walk again (broken legs and kneecaps). Detectives tried to narrow the perp down in the neighborhood: he wasn't loved at all by residents because he used to stalk people, staying drunk all day long. His family lost contact with him a while before, because he suffered from bipolar disorder, so his only friend is a troubled guy from the hood who shared the same issues. It's hard for Brooks and Devlin to find the right attacker because many people could have had a motive.
Another episode involving vigilantism that seems to be tolerated by most people. I think that crazy person like him should be detained in insane asylum, it could avoid unexpected reaction; even an upstanding man could lose his mind after a while if he's constantly provoked
