Debut of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy as music directors. The song from this film 'Sabse Aage Honge Hindustani' was an instant chart-buster. It went on to become an unavoidable number played in all Indian patriotic events.
After Mukul's death star Salman and producers Nitin and Sunil approached many directors including Priyadarshan, Ramesh Sippy to complete the film. But the creative differences in what Mukul had shot already and what remained to be shot created creative divergences. It meant the film remained incomplete with no replacement director to helm it.
Raveena Tandon was to play her first negative role in career with this film. She appeared later in a role with gray shade in Aks (2001) for the first time on-screen.
The Film was shot extensively in Utah for all action scenes between heroes, Indian army and terrorists. A special set of India Gate, Delhi for was also constructed there. The production shot most action, songs and some dramatic scenes in Utah marking 40% of the film and returned after which the director Mukul Anand died from heart attack while starting early editing. The climax action was set in India gate and shot on the set created in Utah already. The film had already back then spent a massive 4 crores for this segment which was almost 20% of the marked budget then.
