This series has been entertaining - season one was a little slow to get going, but enjoyable in the latter stages despite how farcical the plot was in retrospect.
This season has had a similar trajectory with a strong episode last week. This one though is terrible. Nothing develops in the main plotline and the focus is entirely on the relationships - this is fine insofar as I have enjoyed the tentative dalliance between the 'socially inept but lovable' Prof and the detective, it has been quite sweet and rings true. This episode, however, has turned them into temper-tantrum sixteen year olds from some kind of teen show. Overlay that with 'misanthropic terse' Prof throwing her toys out of the pram again and the show is becoming a parody of itself.
I get that these women are social outliers due to their brilliance, but they must have been able to at least reasonably function in society to get here even if it is difficult for them.
