I can't believe I'm writing this but 'Dancing on Ice' was actually good last night!
Not only did we have more than one skate per part without having to go to an ad break, but we had the proper singer on all of the musical tracks that were skated too, which is more than 'Musicals Week' managed.
Lo and behold it seemed that the judges had realised they could be more than the platitude police as well, offering out actual room for improvement and low marks for people just whizzing around in a circle doing nothing - hooray!
The performances themselves were better too, telling actual stories, rather than just being a case of "look how high I can lift/be lifted".
Best of all we had a performance from Torvil and Dean, which in the early (better!) days of 'DoI' used to be a fairly weekly thing. It really does make all the difference, and while I appreciate they probably can't do it every week, just letting them out from behind their judges desks (a role they seem very bored in doing) on the Final to dance Bolero is a waste.
Surprisingly good overall, though replacing celebs who get injured/hit by the virus may mean this series goes on until Christmas!
