Interesting look at issues of a country dealing with change
qck124 April 2021
I know that many societies are dealing with the impact of change on hooking up. In Korea many women leave because the discriminator they have to deal with because they do not want to live the type of traditional life they feel pressured to live, and the men are finding wives from the Philippines. Men from the Faroes Islands are also finding wives from the Philippines. In the US women will no longer just stay in a relationship, and so often seem to prefer being single to dealing with a male partner. And so many of the American men are lost in how they find a girlfriend. The result is that the US is becoming a single. Japan is also struggling, and probably more so than the US because of the even greater isolation between the sexes. It is even harder for Japanese to relate to the other sex, and with disappearance of arranged marriages they are lost. One of the interesting sections of this documentary is how a French man runs a club where the Japanese girls can meet foreign men, and there are a lot of marriages out of it. There are also men that a woman can pay to have a simple date with them, and they show a case where the rented man is helping the woman interact with men. There are the Japanese boys that now live their lives in virtual realities with and find the virtual girls more what they want. How is the world going to deal with the changes? Whether this documentary actually is a good representation of Japanese love life I cannot say, which is why I rated it an 8.
