Miley Cyrus at the Twilight Film Festival

These are the The Teen Choice Awards 2009, the 2009 edition of an annual awards show in which teens (maybe also adults) vote for their favorite artists. 2008 was the year when the Twilight film franchise started and the hype was pretty huge back then, so nobody should be surprised that there was major buzz around Twilight that also proved victorious in several of the categories. The hosts were the Jonas Brothers who I found among the most embarrassing aspects of the night and the show probably hit rock-bottom when we hear the audience complain about one fan's idea that one of the Jonas Brothers should cut off his hair. Cringeworthy stuff and the epitome of teenage drama, so i guess it was right where it belonged. The general idea of teenagers suggesting dares to the Jonas Brothers did not work out well at all. Another low-point of the night was when Megan Fox introduced Robert Pattinson to the screaming audience. But there were good moments too. Apart from the final song, the music wasn't bad and Miley Cyrus sure turned it into a memorable night at least when she was on screen. It was very easy to see how big of a star she already was and still would become. It was definitely a bit awkward when she introduced Spears with the teen choice lifetime achievement award as I somehow felt that Cyrus was way more in the center of the entire event than Spears was. other than that, there were the usual problems with these shows where everybody could vote. At times it feels that the announcers and/or the honorees knew exactly who would win and they just gave it to everybody who came. Then again, I may be wrong looking at Shia LaBeauf. Yep Transformers was a thing back then too. Oh yeah, and Obama was as well as he entered office in 2009 too and honestly the Jonas Brothers introduction with the President was as cringeworthy as their final performance (show some humbleness guys, you are the hosts, but you really wanna be the stars so badly too). It was not a great watch, not a good one either with very few exceptions. I give these 85 minutes a thumbs-down.
