Another DTV Scam
LeonLouisRicci18 September 2013
This is a cheap looking DTV Movie, is that redundant? Not always, but here it is nonetheless, and it reeks of bottom barrel badness. Rapper 50 Cent Produced this thing and he manages to mangle the English Language, swallow His words, and mumble for the complete 30 seconds he is on the Screen. Then has the audacity to put His Name on the Box. Ditto pretty much Val Kilmer, and Vinnie Jones although they don't Mumble they just barely show up.

The Colors are washed out and the lighting is awful, the Camera shakes as this announces Action and Excitement. There are many obligatory parades of Babes in varying poses as eye-candy and Gangsta Ho hangers on. The Plot tries to have some Pathos with a Murdered Brother, a White-knight Cop, and a Pregnant Street Gal who must give up "the Life" for her Baby.

Nothing here is worth much and it barely reaches the Competency Level and when it does it drops to below standard quickly. Nothing here worth your time unless you must see every Gang-Related Retread made available for a seemingly insatiable Home Video Market.

staring 50 cent???
rlongmire-893-54482215 April 2011
paint by numbers cop revenge movie that if you judge a book by its cover should of stared rapper 50 cent who actually was in one scene. i really only wrote a review to point that out. boring movie, no surprises, average performances by the actors and direction which lacked just that direction. it is a boring straight to DVD action movie nothing more. DO NOT BUY if your looking for a cheesy rapper movie like i was.

pros: alright sound track fight with former wwe star bobby lashley at the end

cons: 50 cent: i know i watched this cause he was on the cover but to tell the truth its probably a good thing he was barely in it. he was terrible

everything else.

Blood in - Rubbish Out
Cryss66-45-7031085 May 2011
My mum always said if put rubbish in that is what you get out! So we can start with the camera work, think student film and obscure lighting techniques then we move to the 'over-acting' and then the 'under-acting' in some parts.

The Story line, very predictable, false advertising with regards to the single appearance of 50 Cent opposed to 'starring', add to that the improbable events that take place in a police station??? It plods along as expected, relatively good soundtrack, token chicks, gratuitous nakedness and the stilletoed heroine.

But the best of all is the last minute special effects ….. I shan't spoil it but if you don't replay it at least 3 times to double check what you just saw I'll be surprised, in fact I'll be flabbergasted, it's incredulous! Ifyou are a teenager, who enjoys action flicks for the sake of action flicks and have no concern for quality, this is your cup of tea!

A cheerful look at "Blood Out"
bhunter-1241419 June 2015
In my 74 years I have never seen anything any worst than the movie "Blood Out." In fact my recommendation is that the writers fingers be put in a cast for the remainder of his/her natural life; Jason Hewitt should be barred from any set; and the producers should have their bank accounts seized in order to stop further films from being made. As for the actors (oxymoron) they too should be banned from making any more films. Even Val Kilmer - the only name in the flipping movie - was disgusting, both in appearance and line delivery.

If you can get money for this movie then anything is possible. "Only in America," as they say.

Go Out But Don't Sit And Rent This
omendata5 July 2020
Contrary to other reviewers I have always liked Luke Goss and he is a solid actor but only in certain roles and the hard man is not one of them.

As soon as I see Vinnie Jones in ANY movie I kinda know what I am going to get and as soon as he popped his ugly mug up my heart sank and I was right this movie is a real stinker and no mistake.

Every single actor but Goss and Ed Quinn cannot act their way out of a paper bag including Tamer and even Kilmer puts in some god awful performance with a soliloquy that has to be seen to be disbelieved - what was he thinking? From the glory days how low has Val Kilmer fallen to be second billing in this pile of cinematic ordure.

Bored me to tears and the end fight sequence has to be seen to be believed, utterly ridiculous; some sort of Mad Max Beyond Thunderboredome it was and no mistake - I just wasted an hour and a half of my life I will never get back and I am mad - Don't you be too!

Generic, by the numbers and all too predictable action thriller you've seen a hundred times before
wellthatswhatithinkanyway27 October 2011
STAR RATING: ***** Saturday Night **** Friday Night *** Friday Morning ** Sunday Night * Monday Morning

When cop Michael Savion's (Luke Goss) small time hood brother David (Ryan Donowho) is killed by mob boss Elias (Tamer Hassan) for suspected betrayal, he takes it on himself to dispense justice after ineffectual assurances by Detective Hardwick (50 Cent.) After making a name for himself around town, taking down some hard nut local gang bangers, he finds himself invited into Elias's inner circle and asked to work for him. Elias sets his sights on turning Savion into his fighting champ in an up-coming underground fight to determine which criminal empire rules, and where Savion will strike the spring in his tail.

Action is one of my favourite genres, easily one of the most entertaining and releasing of the movie art forms. But, defend it though I might, even I couldn't argue with the point that it certainly isn't a genre known for needing your brain or particularly your imagination to much extent. It's unique in the sense that any half wit writer can think up the most lazy, formulaic idea and, as long as it delivers on the 'action' quotient and gives the audience what they've come to see, it can get away with this. For a lot of action films this does work but, while Blood Out is not quite a disaster, the laziness of the story and the join the dots script ends up making it more of a chore to sit through than a simple piece of violent, brainless fun.

Debut director Jason Hewitt doesn't seem to have any history of directing music videos, but the frenetic style he uses to shoot the film and tell the story leaves you thinking this might have been a fair assumption to make. The plot is not only simplistic but wavey and slightly incoherent, and coming in at just under an hour and a half, you've still been clock watching to see when it might be over simply on account of how bored you've ended up getting with it. None of the cast can give especially great performances, because all the roles are so generic and one dimensional, from Goss as the 'man out to avenge loved one' good guy to Hassan's cardboard villain. A host of supporting stars, including 50 Cent, Val Kilmer and Vinnie Jones (an interesting appearance, given his and Hassan's reported fisticuffs bust up in which he came off the loser) appear in what end up feeling like minor roles.

I guess if you want a simple violent, undemanding action film, Blood Out might do. But this story has been done so many times before and so much better, you might be wiser to search around. Try under Chuck Norris. **

Worst movie ever
stuffypa11 August 2011
This is the story of a cop whose brother was a drug dealer and was killed by his gang when he is trying lo leave his criminal life. After the death of his brother he decides to take justice into his own hands, he leaves the police and he manages to enter the gang that killed his brother. In general, the dialogs are boring and weird, some scenes are very strange indeed, in particular one with sadistic girls and their boss. Worst movie I have ever seen, this director shouldn't be able to work again. Bad story line and even worst direction. A bunch of girls and some crazy camera angles don't do the trick! Learn how to direct properly a movie.

Good film , terrible ending
stephanie-0610 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
It's your typical fighting film , a sibling revenging the death of their murdered/dead relative. This one is no different. That did not bother me though , One cop brother , and his brother is in a gang , the brother in the gang wants to leave but alas does not end well. Roll on big cop brother going on a rampage. Although to me it wasn't a rampage , it was more of him playing dangerously by trying to figure out who the top dogs are , which is a different twist to other movies in this genre. It was a good watch , although the end made me shake my head. It left a few unanswered questions. Worth a watch

ALTHOUGH .. there are a few things that make the movie a bit unbelievable such as

  • TATTOO ARTIST HAPPILY TATTOOS HIM WITH GANG SYMBOLS (GANG SYMBOLS WHICH JUST SO HAPPEN TO BE A MAJOR GANG) - BIG BROTHER MANAGES TOO JOIN THE GANG BY FLASHING HIS TATTOOS CLAIMING TO BE FROM ANOTHER STATE - NO CHECKS ARE DONE ON HIM WHAT-SO-EVER THEY JUST WELCOME HIM STRAIGHT INTO THE GANG - EVERY GANG MEMBER WELCOMES HIM WHOLE HEARTEDLY AND THINKS HE'S THE BEES KNEES WITHIN A DAY OF HIM BEING THEIR - HE MANAGES TO BECOME SO HIGH UP IN THE GROUP WITHIN A WEEK

Tattooed trash
Leofwine_draca21 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
BLOOD OUT is a straight-to-video trash thriller starring Luke Goss as a lawman devastated by his brother's murder. In order to avenge his sibling, he decides to go undercover in a criminal gang in order to bring those responsible to justice. This involves him loading up with chav tattoos and indulging in a series of routine, low budget fights in order to work his way to the top. This scuzzy, punky production boasts small roles for the likes of 50 Cent and Val Kilmer, alongside stock gangster turns from Vinnie Jones and Tamer Hassan. It's completely rubbish, badly shot and directed throughout.

A lot better than expected
lostflix5 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I would rate this film a 6.5 out of 10. I went in definitely with very sub par expectations especially considering the opening 5 minutes of the film seemed like a blatant rip off from the opening 5 minutes of the Assault on Precinct 13 remake. Once the film moved on passed that and I adjusted to the passé (and much recently overused) style of shaky camera syndrome I was able to absorb that the film had much more to offer. Filmed in Louisiana it had a much grittier look than Los Angeles and definitely helped sell the film a lot more than a typical gang-banger flick shot in Compton. Also the film featured 50 cent but another refreshing aspect was typically in a film of that nature (a film that features a prominent rapper) more than half the soundtrack would be wishy wash songs by that artist; but this film instead had many underground and fresh artists collaborating to create a very enjoyable mix. Even the credits outro song was very good (albeit stealing the riff from 'Slow-Motion for me' rap song). Val Kilmer. Well what can you say about his appearance in this film? Is it me or has he resorted to these very bit small parts in all sorts of independent movies. He is much bigger than his days of Chris Knight in Real Genius but his presence does its job and doesn't distract the viewer all too much. More distractions fall all the sexy eye candy that is spread all over the film via slave girls in S&M outfits and Victoria Secret angel garb. A minute into the film a sexy breast is presented to us but don't let that fool you, the movie is far from a late night Skinemax T&A film... in fact after that opening gratuity shot not many more nipples make there appearance. Luke Goss is a very well fit for this film and his acting hits the X. Very believable in a role in which I don't think many men could pull off. The director, Jason Hewitt (I believe his first film directing), does a very good job in telling a way too common vigilante (cop goes undercover) story in a unique way so that the viewer doesn't feel like they are watching recycled Hollywood garbage that has been done so many times before. All in all the film is recommended (specially if you are in a macho guy action flick mood) and the soundtrack would be worth hunting down.

A 50 Cent/Val Kilmer movie, with a total of 3 minutes of screen time with them total. That's not a bad thing, movie is. I say C-
cosmo_tiger27 April 2011
What do you do when the law doesn't help? After his brother is brutally murdered Sheriff Spencer (Luke Goss) is let down by the people he hoped would help. Taking matters into his own hands he goes undercover in the gang that did it in order to get revenge. Looking at the cover it seems like another 50-cent/Val Kilmer movie, which makes you think twice about getting it. Vinnie Jones, Fiddy and Kilmer have a total screen time of about 2 minutes. Luke Goss is the main star of the movie. I was not expecting a lot being that I thought it as a 50 cent/Kilmer movie, although "Gun" was not as bad as I expected so I had a little more expectations for this one. This was a movie that started off flat and never improved. The acting wasn't as bad as I expected though. It was not terrible, but had all the drama and excitement of watching a dog play fetch, fun for a while then just sitting waiting for it to end. This is a movie that a lot of people will like, I just can't get into this kind of thing. I give it a C-.

Would I watch again? - No I wouldn't

Great Action
Enad-Farraj2 May 2011
Some people watch this movie just because 50 Cent is in it, think its a rap movie or something, build up expectation for it, but gets disappointed which makes it an unpleasant experience .

to fully get the full feel of this movie is just to sit, relax, let it build, and keep a good eye on the character. Luke Gose gave a stunning performance, his character keeps building throughout the movie. Moreover the script was nicely written. smart saying and quotes, which is perfectly timed.

Directing is perfect for this kind of movies, and the last end speech before it ends unexpectedly is great. i didn't want it to end, didn't see it coming its a MUST SEE!

Passable thriller
jordondave-2808519 May 2023
(2011) Blood Out CRIME/ THRILLER

Co-written and directed by Jason Hewitt directing a straight-to-rental crime thriller, never been done before set up has Luke Gross as a devoted officer, Michael Savion posing as a tattoo gang land thug so he can avenge the murder of his brother since he wasn't getting any outside help from other police units. This pass is purely for the unusual direction in terms of circumstance rather than the fights and the corny bout toward the end. Popular rapper 50 Cent has a small appearance as the uncaring officer in charge of his brothers murder expressing some of the best funniest lines.

I am not going to tell you to avoid this atrocity. Everyone needs to see this pile of dung. This should be Used in Film Schools all over the World to show student what a worthless horrible movie is. OMG seriously You have got to see this.

The only redeeming part of this flick was a couple Hot Girls. Even the love scenes were bad. Lol Don't forget to see this

Luke Goss? No, no, no.
markorm-13 June 2011
The film is adventurous, some of the scenes are splendidly colourful in a pantomime, burlesque peep show kind of way. The streets look mean, the cops look bad and the baddies look badder, apart from Kilmer who just looks like a camp, fat has-been.

Goss plays a cop forced to throw in his badge and infiltrate the underworld to seek revenge for his brother's death. Goss has come along way since his band days, and looks the Jason Streatham'esque mean moody guy who's not to be messed with, but his accent is terrible. At times, English, at times a bit Aussie I think he just manages to get away with it, but it is distracting. His slight frame also has you questioning at times whether really, really he is capable of ploughing into guys twice his size and pummelling them to bits. When he turns sideways he most disappears.

That aside, the rest of the cast are great, specifically with regard to Tamer Hassan, who delivers a rock solid performance as the egomaniac Elias. Around him, he is surrounded with a very believable army of thugs and this alone saves the film.

I think this was a bit too big for Goss, at this juncture, especially with a non-native accent, but the action, and slow underlying story is believable and keeps you watching.

What in the world am I watching?
therealdklo10 March 2022
No coherent plot, no fight scenes that are truly worth investing in, some random gladiator-looking underground battle scene, not a single character worth caring about makes this supposed vengeance/thriller movie much worse than the usual. And the usual tropes are already usually super tired to begin with. I'm slowly beginning to associate Luke Goss movies with trash that's not worth watching.

Soundtrack is also trash, and what in the world is a bloated Val Kilmer doing here? Is it to add "star power"? When he barely does anything and is bogged down with terrible dialogue like "All Hail Mars, son of Juno". I have no words. This is terrible. Don't watch and I say that as someone who love B-movie action schlock.

Beat 'em up
nogodnomasters1 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Michael (Luke Goss) is a cop. His brother David (Ryan Donowho) is a gang member who wants out to marry his pregnant girlfriend. David is seen talking to his cop brother and is killed as a snitch. Local cops do not want to investigate. Michael goes undercover and becomes a gang member to get revenge.

The film has a lot of fighting and action. No twists, other than a neck. Vinnie Jones and a lethargic Val Kilmer are part of the bad guys. 50 Cents makes a lousy cop.

Guide: F-word, sex, nudity.

Not an awful action movie.
hannahhill9327 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
After reading through the reviews I was in 2 minds about whether to even bother with this film. However, although I wasn't blown away by this film I wasn't completely bored either.

Luke Goss didn't do an awful job at playing a bereaved brother who wanted revenge and his fight scenes were pretty good despite the fact he wasn't particularly muscular. Vinnie Jones is as you would expect, a foul mouthed heartless crook which fitted nicely with the storyline. I was very surprised to see AnnaLynne McCord and again she played her part fairly well. Although 50 Cent seemed to get a lot of trailer screen time you only see him twice in this film.

There is nothing new about this film but all in all it isn't an awful action movie.

Average or a little below
redflash8515 October 2014
I was pretty disappointed by this move as it had great actor potential (Vinnie Jones, Val Kilmer, Tamer Hassan) but unfortunately the good actors in this movie only play minor roles .. well except Tamer Hassan.

This move actually was to short for the plot and therefore rushed from sequence to sequence which made me not care about the characters at all. Also the story is extremely standard and predictable but it even tries to be so much more as it really is which made me really not believe a thing.

On the good side are the rare scenes of the above mentioned actors. I especially liked the completely over the top gangster boss Val Kilmer. Also the action scenes are well scripted and fun to watch.

For a late night movie with a beer or two it is definitely OK. As long as you do not expect high class entertainment the move is enjoyable .. just don't start thinking about the story.

I actually enjoyed it.
ilikelickingeyeballs25 October 2023
I see that most reviews do not share my opinion about this film, but im just a sucker for gangster movies. I really liked the whole concept of revenge. The fight scenes are also pretty niecely done, i found myself enjoying them. The colors were also very intresting, adding a certain vibe which was certainly a plus. Nice plot twist, intresting characters. Gangster/lowlife lifestyle done very cool, i of course dont know how the gangster lifestyle looks in real life but i think it gave an intresting perspective. Nicely done acting too, i felt the rage and all the other emotions with this one. Thats it:)
