It was fine...for reasons

Truth is that musicians can't go wrong with "Baker Street", the eternal smash hit by the late Gerry Rafferty even though his version is so good that every other version that came after his take was only a minor happy accident that worked. My second favorite version comes from Foo Fighters which was surreal considering they got rid off the most memorable element of the song which is the sax solo, trading it for the eletric guitar effects and it worked somehow. And then there's this special version done in the COVID era with the lockdown in progress with musicians from the group Contagious performing in different places then gathered in the editing room presented in this video.

It was okay. Nothing so special but manageable. The sax solo is the highest part, reaching closer levels of the original but...what comes next isn't all that good. The vocal is strange and seems to chew part of the lyrics, and the highly expected guitar solo is played a little slower, didn't match my taste and it only kept me remembering the original version (which is a perfect music, in my opinion, despite the sax player mentioning he hated the track that made him famous claiming that he was out of tune).

So my aproving of this is thanks to 1) a cover of a song I love and 2) given the restritions imposed by the lockdown which affected everyone's lives those kind of projects that went around the world were enjoyable and fun to make, showing us that despite the distance we could gather around and create stuff, developed our art and our craft and show it for the world to see. Those are the main reasons why it gets a small praise from me rather than a more critical review. 6/10.
