On Monday night, E4 launched a new dating show that involved fairytale fancy dress, power ballad singing and catapults.
My Little Princess is the latest in a long history of bonkers dating shows that have made it to the small screen and in tribute to the TV commissioners who considered them wise ideas and in any way romantic, we've collected together our 15 personal favourites.
My Little Princess
Men dressed as princes, who must impress an evil king to secure a date with his daughter. Standard. Throw in lots of mud, talking horses, power ballad sing-offs and men being thrown off bridges. Obviously. My Little Princess blends Tool Academy and Takeshi's Castle to make the ultimate dumb dating show.
Singled Out
The classic MTV series hosted by Chris Hardwick and Jenny McCarthy in the Us featured a wild audience of contestants, who looked like they'd been dragged in from a booze-laden Spring Break wet T-shirt contest.

Former Eternal singer Louise Rednapp has been announced as the third judge for So You Think You Can Dance.
The wife of footballer Jamie Redknapp will join Nigel Lythgoe and Arlene Phillips on the panel for the BBC dance show.
“I’m so excited about this opportunity,” said Redknapp. “I went through similar dance training as a lot of the kids competing, so I know where they’re coming from. The opportunity this show offers them is phenomenal, and I can’t wait to be part of the live shows.”
Head judge Lythgoe said: “Louise joined us as a guest judge during the Manchester leg of the auditions and we loved her – she brought something different to the panel and she had a great affinity with the kids up there dancing for their lives. When it came to thinking about the live shows, we kept coming back to Louise. She is perfect for the job.

The 34-year-old, who hails from Lewisham in south-east London, praised the "breathtaking" farm where the show was filmed but claimed that she was eager to return to her urban life. "It was brilliant for a weekend, but I have to say I missed shopping on Oxford Street," she told Pa. "I like the city. But saying that, the farm Desmond owns is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. He grows all this amazing organic fruit and veg and has an 18th-century manor house. It's breathtaking."
