Maeve confirms there are five guards on the perimeter, and seven inside, having determined by accessing a security feed. The two of them go forward, shooting the guards and the security cameras, and find Rehoboam device inside. Caleb plants charges while Maeve stands guard, and return fire at more guards. She hacks into his limbics to show him freedom,

Charlotte accesses the fly in his brain on her tablet, and says that soon Caleb won't want to resist. Caleb sees the android Frankie standing nearby, then tries to get up and lunge at Frankie, but falls on the floor. Charlotte says that his family is still out somewhere alive--for now--and soon it matter where they run because all humans will be under her control.
Caleb figures that it was never about the barn, but about Charlotte spreading her "disease", and everyone who comes to Temperance World will be a carrier, and Caleb is the first wave. She's inclined to keep Caleb around because Maeve and Delores were so fond of him. Charlotte tells Caleb that fighting will do no good, and no one does.
Maeve looks up at the Man and realizes that he's a host, and the Man tells her that all of her friends are gone and he took care of them himself. As Maeve stand up, the Man says that it was easy. Maeve attacks him but the Man easily knocks her back down. As he goes to get his resolver, Maeve limps off down the corridor to the room with the sonic generator.
The Man goes to the room with the generator and tells Maeve that she's nothing but a child hiding in the shadow. Maeve is hiding behind a console and tries to access the Man's mind. He senses her attempt and calls out that he has some upgrades and she can't control him. The Man realizes that she's activating the generator's controls, and it comes on and overloads
Charlotte clutches at her head as the room shakes from the sonic waves. The Man also moans in pain, clutching at his head, and then a sonic wave knocks him through the nearby glass wall. Glass walls explode throughout the complex, and Caleb puts a piece of glass to Charlotte's throat.
Caleb drags Charlotte up as Maeve comes in, and tells her that Frankie wasn't real. Maeve already knows, and tells Charlotte that she's coming with them. Caleb tells Maeve that they have to stop Charlotte before the parasites spread further, and the two take Charlotte up in an elevator.
In the generator room, the Man wakes up.
Christina is in her bed, and Maya comes in and is surprised to see her roommate still in bed. Realizing that she overslept, Christina gets out of bed and they find an easel and a painting. Maya talks about a ream of herself as a child, and a fly landing on her food and her parents a picnic. More flies came and surrounded her parents, and then the flies came for her in her nightmare. Maya takes the cover off the painting, revealing a black structure looming over a city. Christina doesn't know what it means, and Maya wants to take Christina out that night to "blow off some steam", and begs Christina to come with her. Taken aback, Christina agrees and the two of them leave.
Bernard and Stubbs go with the rebels, which bring up a blow. When Stubbs wonders what it is, Bernard says that he'll need help recovering the weapon. Jay tells C that they can't waste time on Bernard and Stubbs, and they found another outlier. C insists that Stubbs and Bernard may be their only chance to free everyone, but Jay accuses her of losing all objectivity because it's too personal for her. With that, Jay draws his gun and prepares to shoot Bernard and Stubbs. C steps in the way and draws her own gun. A woman comes over and tells them to stop arguing, and she'll take C's place. Jay tells C to follow her lead, and if Bernard is lying, kill him. Jay says Stubbs is coming with them as collateral. C and the woman wish each other luck and kiss.
In the city in Temperance, Maeve knocks out a detective, drags him into a nearby alleyway, and takes his handcuffs. Caleb uses them to handcuff Charlotte, and Caleb warns his partner that every human in the park could be infected, and they need to get to an extraction point, where his guys will pick them up just outside the border of the park. Charlotte says that they'll stop them before then, and points out that Maeve keeps risking her life for Caleb. Maeve senses that they've turned back on the machine and tells Caleb, who staggers back. Charlotte says that the parasites will soon take control of their hosts, if the human guests don't kill both her captors first.
The trio walk out onto the street, while the hosts they past shoot each other. Caleb freezes in the middle of the street while Maeve takes Charlotte to a nearby laundry truck. He picks up a discarded tommygun and aims it at Maeve. She tells him not to, and a man comes up and stabs Caleb in the side. Maeve shoots the man, knocks Charlotte out, and shoves her into the truck. Caleb staggers over and gets into the cab with Maeve, and she drives off.

The rebels cover over their vehicles, and Bernard walks over toward it. C throws a cloth over him, protecting him from detection, and the drone flies off. Bernard picks up a bug on the ground, looks at a nearby ridge, and says that it's time to push forward and go over the ridge.
In the city, Christina enters a bar with Maya and they sit at a table. Maya puts lipstick on Christina and a man--Teddy--picks up the lipstick when Christina takes and drops the tube. He gives it back to Christina and says that he's just trying to look chivalrous. He says that he's the date Maya set up with Christina, and the two of them sit down by themselves at a table. Teddy flirts with Christina using cheesy lines, and when she points out he asks her to write him better lines. He knows that she's a writer because Maya told him. Christina asks what kind of work he was in, and he says that he was a bounty hunter with a heart of gold. She says that there's something about Teddy that seems familiar, and he says that it's okay if she wants to hit on him. Christina says that she wasn't hitting on him, and Teddy offers a toast to Christina and her path through life, wherever it leads. She joins in and smiles.
Maeve drives the truck out of Temperance, and Caleb sleeps in the cab next to her. He clutches at his side.
In the past on the beach, Caleb clutches at the wound in his side. He then lies on a table while doctors try to keep him alive, and Maeve watches through an observation window.
In the truck, Caleb asks if Maeve is going to disappear on him this time. She says that she didn't the last time, and she sat at his bedside and confronted mortality for the first time, the finality of death in humans. Maeve saw Uwade with Caleb as the latter recovered, and saw a vision of how Caleb could be free. So she left so he could have a family and have something to fight for, but one day after many years she was curious and reached out to Caleb through the grid, and that's how Charlotte found them.
As night falls, the duo come to a demolition site for the park. Maeve and Caleb order Charlotte out of the back, and the Man shoots at them. They take cover and Maeve tells Caleb that she'll cover him while he calls his team to get them out. She gives him the tommygun, and he warns Maeve that she can't trust him with it. She says that she just did, and Caleb leads Charlotte to a nearby office and ties her to a chair. He reaches his team on the office's radio, and sends them his coordinates, and the team says that Caleb's team is fine although they lost Carver.
Charlotte tells Caleb that his consciousness is being released, and his will is no longer his own and it belongs to her. The machine in the middle of the site throbs, and Charlotte tells Caleb to pick up the gun. He does so and Charlotte says to end it. Caleb goes out and Charlotte tells him to shoot Maeve. Caleb shoots the Man instead, and Charlotte wonders how Caleb disobeyed her. He tells her that he has something she doesn't have, while the Man manages to shoot Maeve. The Man gets up and draws his knife, and tells Maeve that she can't stop them. He stabs Maeve in the stomach and says that she's going to die in the park by his hand. Maeve arms the demolition charges with her mind, and Caleb realizes what she's doing and tells her to stop. She grabs the Man to keep him from escaping, and activates the charges, killing them both.
Caleb screams in grief, and blacks out. Charlotte tells him to wake up, and he says that Frankie won't grow up controlled by Charlotte, and he won't rest until everything she's built has been destroyed.
C's rebels uses a sandblaster on the spot Bernard directs them to.
Charlotte tells Caleb that Maeve was something special, and takes control of him when he moves to kill her. The extraction team ask over the radio if Caleb sees the light from their hover. Charlotte asks Caleb if he remembers what happened now, and if he remembers that moment. She tells him to think, and Caleb remembers everything that just happened. Charlotte tells him that the lights don't belong to his men, but hers. Caleb remembers the team coming in and gunning him down, and Charlotte tells Caleb that he died right there.
Once the sand is clear, Bernard starts digging the rest away. C watches, and Bernard says that she's doesn't believe a weapon is there and that she's looking for her father. C tells Bernard that her father is dead, and Bernard figures that she can't bring herself to believe it. She says that if it happened there, there will be a body.
Caleb asks Charlotte where he is, and she says that he should be asking "when", and asks how long he's been there. Charlotte says that she's asking as part of an interview to establish a baseline, stand up untied and says they're doing it to test fidelity. Caleb confirms that there's no bullet wound, and Charlotte explains that they're on the 278th version of "Caleb", She's continuing g the experimentation started by humans,. When Caleb realizes that his family isn't real, Charlotte says that the parasite worked initially adults, but there was some resistance because adult human brain patterns are too set. That's not the case with human children, and the parasites grew in perfect symbiosis with their minds. It took a generation for those children to mature, for Charlotte to gain complete control over the human world, Caleb wonders how long it's been, and Charlotte says that it's been 23 years since Caleb died in the park.
Caleb wakes up in an interview room across from Charlotte.
Bernard digs up the demolition site sign, moves it, and tells C that he's sorry. He tells her that Caleb isn't there but the weapon is... as he finds Maeve's body.
Caleb goes to the window of the interrogation room and looks out at the city, Charlotte says that it was time for a new narrative, and Caleb runs downstairs and out of the Olympiad building and onto the street. The tower looms above the city where the Statue of Liberty was, and all of the pedestrians freeze in place. Charlotte comes out and asks Caleb if he understands now, and welcome him to her world. Men grab Caleb and drag him away, and the pedestrians start moving again.
