Carol has managed to get a job at the massage parlor where her mother worked and sees that Whittaker, the man she saw photograph her on the street as a child, is a regular customer. She manages to extract information from him that suggests the existence of a pedophile ring, though he was not one of them. She manages to track down one of her mother's co-workers, Rachel, who tells her that she used to arrange for young girls and the occasional boy for the ring who would then bribe the parents, often single mums, with large amounts of cash to keep it all a secret. She was also present when her mother was killed, revealing the identity of the killer.
