This was the second part of the opening night of this History Channel series, a new one which features consider "new" film discovered on WWII. It's amazing how every now and then some new footage of this famous war is unearthed. A lot of the new film is in color, too.
What stands out to me on this hour presentation is some of the horrible scenes of mutilated, dead bodies and one particularly-horrific scene in which people of Yugoslavia were publicly hanged, just as an example the Nazis wanted to set for anyone of thinking of plotting against them in that country. The men were hanged without a struggle. They just stood there while the noose was put around them and they soon died. I couldn't believe it! It"s a scene I won't forget.
This appears to be a very good, thorough look at the war but be prepared for some grisly scenes here and there. War ain't pretty. By the way, the "HD" in the title of this series just refers to the interviews with the veterans. Obviously, film 60-some years old, was not shot in high-definition.
