Enjoyable episode but...
newpapyrus3 April 2022
Another enjoyable episode-- but the cliffhangers drive me absolutely crazy.

And with just one more episode left, there is no way this show is going to explain even a significant portion of what's really going on in this strange nightmarish place.

Too bad that Epix won't let you binge watch all of the episodes of this really great series right now. So I envy those who'll encounter this series later on and get to watch all of the episodes in one or just a few days.

PLEASE listen Hollywood. Awesome series, but TOO much drama filler that doesn't add to the story...(Yet, very well done)
transientdreams8 April 2022
Everything in this series is done extremely well. It touches nerves and has a decent amount of suspense. The acting and directing is great. What bogs this this series down is the extended mellow-drama and 'weepy' scenes that are both excellent and worthy of watching, but they last for many seconds too long, and add nothing to the complete story as a whole. People watch this to be SCARED, and not feel sentimental for characters they barely know. Now, not that anyone can do anything about it, but you have an average of 6+ minutes of 'flashbacks at the beginning of the show. Well over 2 minutes of rehash, a 2 minute theme song, and then 2 minutes of end credits. It's a FORTY FIVE minute show! Stop pandering to SO many different audiences and tighten it up! The series 'LOST' had the same issues, but far worse. It was a bore-fest with a pointless outcome. Seriously! I would like to see this series survive for at least 5 years because it's very original and kinda awesome. But STOP teasing your audience with meager 'people drama' in each show. Give us some damn guts and gritty darkness worthy of the show's premiere. I doubt anyone will read this who is in charge of production, but it needed to be said. After so many decades of watching garbage dramas pretending to be "Horror/suspense", I really hope and pray you folks keep everyone on cast and crew employed for a LONG time. Bless you all.~

Episode 9
bobcobb3017 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Into the Woods" finally gave us a spooky moment outside of the monsters appearing in a window at night, and I think we needed that. Now we know there is more to this world than simply that and we will see what comes next in the finale.

This show does not have enough eccentric personalities out there, I think we need some stronger members of the supporting cast come season two, but the drama and mystery is intriguing enough to keep me hooked.

Let's see what lies ahead, but I worry that we may never get all of our questions about just what exactly is going on answered at any point, which is a shame. You would think writers would know by now after upsetting fans on shows like this in the past.

A Riveting and Emotionally Charged Masterpiece
ameerbarram6 July 2023
The ninth episode of "From" is a true masterpiece that showcases the brilliance of the series. Titled "A Riveting and Emotionally Charged Masterpiece," this episode exceeds all expectations and delivers a captivating viewing experience that will leave audiences in awe.

One of the standout aspects of this episode is the exceptional character development. The writers delve deep into the motivations and backstories of the main characters, allowing viewers to form a strong emotional connection with them. The performances of the cast members are outstanding, with each actor bringing a level of depth and nuance to their roles that is truly commendable.

The pacing of the episode is flawless, with the plot unfolding in a seamless and engaging manner. The story builds up tension and suspense, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats throughout. The director's choice to focus on the main narrative and avoid unnecessary subplots is a wise decision, as it allows for a more focused and impactful storytelling experience.

Visually, the episode is a feast for the eyes. The cinematography is stunning, with each shot carefully composed and visually striking. The use of lighting and color palettes enhances the mood and atmosphere of the scenes, adding an extra layer of depth to the storytelling. The production design and costumes are also top-notch, with attention to detail and creativity evident in every frame.

Furthermore, the episode introduces new twists and turns that keep the audience engaged and guessing. The suspense and intrigue are at an all-time high, with unexpected revelations and shocking moments that will leave viewers speechless. The writing is sharp and intelligent, with dialogue that is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant.

One of the highlights of this episode is the exceptional performances of the entire cast. Each actor brings their A-game, delivering powerful and nuanced performances that leave a lasting impact. The chemistry between the actors is palpable, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the relationships portrayed on screen.

Odd decision making continues
ecsecs-9122510 April 2022
I can understand the desire to try and create deep thoughtful characters and give insight to who they are, BUT it needs to be way more interesting than what they're giving us. The constant complaining and arguing over their old lives is hardly entertaining. I stated in other reviews the general concept is great and I'll watch to the end, but overall not keeping the tension on high is a mistake. These people are way too casual, as if they're not in a situation where one mistake at night and you die a HORRIBLE DEATH. And too much of the decision making is questionable given their situation. Why is Donna so bent out of shape about not keeping her group home intact? Putting a large number of people in one home is an insane idea. Mix in every night these people drink and do drugs to enhance their "community spirit". That's an easy pass as it just takes one weak, drunk, angry, deranged individual to open a door or window at night and everyone could die! Then you got Boyd camping outside in a tent..?

Underwhelming
ahmadz83919 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The penultimate episode, "Into the Woods", was rather disappointing. While it's certainly not the worst episode of the season, it falls flat as a standalone episode. It feels like filler that has no place in a 10-episode season, and as a whole, it comes across as underwhelming.

One of the most frustrating aspects of this episode is that the characters seem more focused on building a tower to broadcast a signal that might not even work rather than finding Victor, who is clearly the most knowledgeable about what's happening. It makes them look dumb, which isn't the writers' goal, I'm sure. Oddly, not even Donna is concerned about him, and Julie, who he saved, doesn't say a single word about him either!

The episode is not without its share of intriguing moments, though. Tabitha's dream felt very "Lost"-like, and I can't help but wonder what the numbers meant. I, too, am intrigued by Julie's bottom-of-the-hole discovery (presumably Victor). He did say the faraway trees can transport you to all kinds of weird places.

To make matters worse, Tabitha was dismissive of Ethan's plan to arrange the images because they weren't suitable for him. Even while I see her point of view, she could have done without enlisting Ethan's assistance. The idea is sound, and the drawings look like they have some clues about what is going on.

Finally, Boyd and Sara's tent being attacked, and the lights flashing in what I assume is still the night, raises some interesting questions. With the sounds and everything, it seems like they are near some lighthouse. Will Boyd's earlier mention of a boat tie into that?

It's safe to say that the last episode has been set up with a lot of potential excitement. Hopefully, they'll be able to move the plot forward this season rather than just putting everything off till next year.

[6.2] Into silliness

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 9: After the average previous episode featuring activity, some thrill and non-creatures presence, this episode drops again in pace and interesting plots up until the "bright" ending. One more "page" left in this season and I doubt very much that could be wrapped up in a satisfying manner.

Let's build a spaceship!
bosporan11 April 2022
Boyd and Sara hike into the woods driven on by the voices and get beyond where Boyd has been previously. They encounter some mundane items albeit their presence is a mystery. A tragedy occurs and the work continues to get a working radio.

So pretty much nothing happens as usual, except Donna goes stir crazy, Jade returns to whining and Kristi worries about Kenny.

I have no confidence that these writers can close this all out satisfactorily in the finale, but my OCD completer-drive will force me to endure it just to see!

Who tf is Eric
gassydabber17 July 2023
Father dies and nobody cares. Eric, who's been in one episode, sets off so much sorrow for no discernible reason.

And then people moan and complain they don't know if they want to leave? "Oh no! What if the radio doesn't work? People will be depressed!" They aren't depressed being stuck in a town?

"Why bother with the radio? I'll play make believe." You've been stuck here for less than three years in this place that doesn't make any sense, and you're poo-pooing a radio idea? Has it been done before? No? Then shut up!

"I think it's time we stop piecing together these drawings that are obviously a puzzle and play a dumb mindfulness game."

The writing for this show is SO. BAD.

This was bad

Warning: Spoilers
The problem with this show to begin with is it's slow pace, and it's not really suspension building, since I literally did chores around the house while LISTENING TO IT and rarely had to go back to see what visual thing they were referring to.

ANYWAYS, back to this terrible episode; it starts with what would NORMALLY be a sad moment, except I don't know who that character is. 9 episodes in and I don't even remember him being mentioned. SO... that's the catalyst for one story line, and they won't get over it, but we the audience had nearly ZERO time to learn about that person. SO, we're not emotionally invested. AND weirdly near the end they've been big into padding. A normal show front-loads the backstory nonsense, then by episode 3 or 4 you start on with the actual show. They inverted that, and it comes off more like; UM... we need to fill out 3 episodes and we have nothing.

So... to recap what this episode is: -Radio Tower project -Incident in the beginning involving an unknown character, and you know it's an unknown character since they have to repeatedly say his name.

-The character everyone in the show hates and is considered creepy is missing -The other character is being difficult which will most likely lead to a manufactured emotional scene.

-Also it does this SUPER ANNOYING THING THAT I HATE IN MOVIES AND SHOWS. Where 99% of the conflict can be resolved with communication. Example not from this show: A: "OH god it's terrible" B: "What's terrible?" A: "Oh god it's going to be on top of us in no time.

And this terrible "Who's On First" routine goes on too long.

This episode is the crescendo of issues that plague this season thus far. It's a show that thinks it's clever, but it's not. Relying HEAVILY on dramatic irony to build suspense.

alright

Warning: Spoilers
Wait.. now super tough old lady is all full of despair and crying about some random character that got introduced to die.. just like that other guy that was portrayed just to open the window and kill people in the house.. that is lazy writing.. they should have maybe used the old guy that sheriff's son almost fought.. or the girl that stole the couple's daughters jacket... anyway, people that were already interacting with others..

and back to the old lady whining about stuff.. so, she allowed people to get drunk and lost focus and that got people killed.. so she should be blaming herself for all of that because she was a very lazy leader.

Is the Asian guy going to finally kiss the girl or not?

Boring cliffhanger and nothing really done in this episode.. just some whining and complaining.. sheriffs arc was the least boring.
