The Walking Dead is incomplete without Andrew Lincoln’s protagonistic character Rick Grimes. Similarly it’s hard to imagine the show without Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon, or his on-screen best friend, Carol Peletier, played by Melissa McBride. Over the years and throughout the episodes, these original characters have been embedded in the hearts and minds of the devout fans of the show.

AMC’s The Walking Day is one of those shows that had had a fabulous run throughput. Debuting in 2010, the post-apocalyptic zombie horror drama had many immaculate character developments and the series has given birth to several spin-off series including, Fear the Walking Dead, Tales of the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Dead City, and most recently, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. However, Dixon was not a character from the original comic book The Walking Dead was based on.

The creator of The Walking Dead comics, Robert Kirkman may be a man of great imagination and invaluable talent but even legends like him often run into a roadblock in their creative journey. The resulting product often ends in a cul-de-sac that in hindsight looks as bleak as rain in the winters.

However, for Kirkman, the stars and moons aligned perfectly to ensure he fulfilled his destiny. So even though the comic genius served up a dose of X-Files-inspired drama along with his undead creation, in the end, it was his original vision that persevered and spawned a universe that is yet to die down in critical acclaim and fan frenzy.

Coming up with the pitch for The Walking Dead for Image Comics in 2003, Robert Kirkman had already hit the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

AMC Networks’ plans to submit the zombie spinoff “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” as a limited series for the Emmys have been killed.
The cable network had announced plans to submit the six-episode spinoff, created by Scott M. Gimple, Danai Gurira, and Andrew Lincoln, for outstanding limited or anthology series at the Primetime Emmys. However, Variety has learned exclusively from two sources with direct knowledge that the show is ineligible to submit in the category.
In 2021, the Television Academy defined what constitutes a limited or anthology series, stating that the story must be resolved within its season without any ongoing storylines. This criteria affected past winners, such as the second season of “The White Lotus,” which was required to compete as a drama due to Jennifer Coolidge’s recurring character. According to the Academy’s ruling at the time, “the reappearance in a subsequent ‘season’ of one character...

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live finale.
In some ways, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live marks the end of an era for AMC‘s long-running zombie franchise.
As fans saw in the Rick and Michonne spinoff’s sixth and final episode, the story of The Walking Dead‘s central lawman appears to have come to a satisfying conclusion (for the time being at least). Following many years in the figurative and literal wilderness, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) return home to Alexandria in “The Last Time” where Rick reunites with his daughter Judith (Cailey Fleming) and meets his son R.J. (Antony Azor). It’s the rarest of occasions for The Walking Dead: an honest-to-goodness happy ending.
Of course, The Walking Dead isn’t a big fan of endings, happy or otherwise. Though the flagship series concluded with its 11th season,...

The Walking Dead is over, but like the zombies at the heart (er, brains?) of the tale, the franchise lives on.
Clocking in at 11 seasons and 177 episodes all told, the AMC horror drama shuffled off into the afterlife, only to birth a bevy of spinoff shows, most of which center on beloved characters from the original series like the Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) reunion series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Beyond those continuing adventures, there are also the spinoffs without too many overt ties to the “flagship” Walking Dead, including the very first of these spinoffs, Fear the Walking Dead (also now in the grave, joined there by the two-seasons-and-out The Walking Dead: World Beyond and single season anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead).

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 1
The The Walking Dead saga was designed by Robert Kirkman and company to be like a zombie movie that never ends. No gaggle of rednecks wandering through the Pennsylvania woods drinking beer and taking potshots. No helicopter speeding off towards a Caribbean island. No nuclear weapons detonated over Louisville, Kentucky. The Walking Dead was supposed to live forever; to the credit of the show’s creative teams, it came pretty close. Eleven seasons of The Walking Dead, eight seasons of Fear The Walking Dead, two seasons of World Beyond, a season of Tales of the Walking Dead (with another coming), Dead City, Daryl Dixon, and probably more things in the tank for the future.

A “Walking Dead” crossover among spin-offs might be in the cards, according to franchise chief Scott Gimple.
“I do have dreams of merging this all together, and I have [placed] little breadcrumbs towards that,” Gimple said during the 2024 Television Critics Association winter press tour. “You never know exactly when and how, because of a variety of reasons … I will just say, I’m building those pathways.”
Gimple warned that there “could be all sorts of pivots along the way” that might tweak his plans, pointing to cast and crew working on different projects who might not be available at the same time.
Gimple’s ambitions to weave “The Walking Dead” universe together started long before he created spin-offs “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,” “Tales of the Walking Dead” and “The Walking Dead: World Beyond.”

It's a story years in the making; truthfully, we're surprised we're actually getting it.
As previously reported, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live premieres Sunday, February 25, 2024, bringing back Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira as fan favorites Rick and Michonne -- or as we like to call them -- Richonne.
Their relationship was such a big part of the original series that it's shocking we've been waiting this long for their reunion.
The Long Road to the Richonne Reunion on The Walking Dead
Andrew Lincoln's exit from The Walking Dead was accompanied by the announcement that he would headline a trilogy of movies.
That was in 2018, but details slowed to a halt after that.
With no new announcements and The Walking Dead's end in sight, it seemed there was a chance that Rick and Michonne's storylines would remain unresolved.
Thankfully, AMC officially picked up Twd: The Ones Who Live...

The Walking Dead, the long-running post-apocalyptic horror series based on the comic books by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard, has finally come to an end after 11 seasons and 177 episodes. The show, which premiered on AMC in 2010, followed a group of survivors led by former sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) as they faced the threats of zombies, hostile humans, and their own inner demons in a world overrun by the undead.
The final season of The Walking Dead, which was split into three parts, adapted material from issues #175–193 of the comic book series and introduced two new factions: the Commonwealth, a large network of communities that had advanced equipment and over fifty thousand survivors living in their settlements; and the Reapers, a mysterious group of hostile survivors that attacked and took Meridian, the former home of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and her new people, the Wardens.

Review: The Walking Dead, AMC‘s megahit zombie series, became the cable network’s mainstay when it debuted to massive ratings in 2010. Over the series’ one hundred and seventy-seven episodes spread across 17 seasons, The Walking Dead spawned the spin-offs Fear The Walking Dead, World Beyond, and Tales of the Walking Dead. While hardcore fans stuck with the flagship series for two decades, many comic book enthusiasts faded from the show when it began to get mired in repetitive melodrama and rote zombie violence. This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 1 finale.
My mom always taught me that the only thing that happens when you assume is that you make an “ass” out of “u” and “me.” Well sorry, mother, but I assumed AMC’s Maggie and Negan spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City would be a one-season experience.
The Walking Dead franchise has been around for quite awhile now. First premiering in 2010, the flagship series ran for an impressive 11 seasons and gave way to Fear the Walking Dead (which will wrap up its eighth and final season later this year), The Walking Dead: World Beyond (which ran for two seasons), and many other spinoffs to come including The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and the Rick and Michonne story The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

The walking dead are about to trek even farther, as the first teasers for two spin-off series – The Ones Who Live and Daryl Dixon – have arrived, building on the ever-expanding universe of the franchise.
In the teaser for The Walking Dead spin-off The Ones Who Live, we see Michonne (Danai Gurira) in silhouette, wielding her beloved katana as she moves towards the screen, a voiceover going, “I’ve been out there a long time…I lost someone years ago…And then things changed…I found out he’s alive.” Mixed with just a touch of action and a glimpse at Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes. Michonne, who debuted in the season two finale “Beside the Dying Fire”, would go on to become one of the most respected characters in the entire series. The show will also feature Pollyanna McIntosh as Jadis. The Berts (Amber Templemore-Finlayson and Katie Ellwood – who helmed...

AMC is remaining committed to its Walking Dead spinoffs.
The basic cable network used its time before fans Friday at San Diego Comic-Con to hand out renewals for Walking Dead spinoffs Dead City, starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as well as to its upcoming Norman Reedus-led Daryl Dixon series.
“This next chapter in the Walking Dead Universe continues to thrive with a terrific inaugural season for Dead City and highly anticipated new journey for fan-favorite character Daryl Dixon coming in September,” said AMC president of entertainment Dan McDermott. “We can’t wait to bring Dead City fans back to the epicenter of Manhattan for more zip-lining action with Maggie and Negan. And, ahead of its debut, we’re thrilled to double down on Daryl as we bring the apocalypse to France, transforming Notre Dame, Pont du Gard and other iconic locales into an apocalyptic landscape unlike anything we’ve seen before.

We’re about halfway done with 2023, and any cable drama premieres that come along in the second half of the year have a new viewership number to try to beat. The Hollywood Reporter shares the news that the Walking Dead spin-off The Walking Dead: Dead City (check out our review Here) is now the biggest cable drama debut of the year, having drawn in 683,000 viewers as it aired on AMC last Sunday, with viewers of the simulcasts on BBC America and IFC, plus replays, boosting the number of viewers to 1.12 million. The Hollywood Reporter notes that “Dead City also became the top series premiere ever on the AMC+ streaming service, in both viewers and acquisition, surpassing Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches (though as usual with streaming platforms, detailed viewing figures aren’t made public).”

Ever since The Walking Dead wrapped its 11-season run on AMC, the franchise has promised to expand some more thanks to countless spinoffs.
The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 1 launched on June 18, and the early numbers are encouraging.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Old Acquaintances" managed 683,000 viewers in its linear airing on AMC.
With simulcasts on AMC Networks cable channels and replays, the number rose to 1.12 million viewers.
While these numbers are way down from the original series' heyday, it is an improvement on the premieres of Interview With the Vampire, Mayfair Witches, and Tales of the Walking Dead.
Another thing to consider: The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 1 Episode 1 launched on AMC+ three days earlier than its linear debut.
While the company didn't provide raw viewership statistics for the Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan drama, it did reveal that it was the top series premiere ever on AMC+ in viewers.

AMC's The Walking Dead universe has been expanding quickly in recent years.
With the conclusion of the main series in 2022 after 11 seasons, many fans desired to continue the journeys of their favorite characters.
There were many reservations when Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) were announced to be headlining The Walking Dead: Dead City.
Maggie and Negan's story ended bittersweetly as they both agreed to co-exist.
As a result, The Walking: Dead City's existence would probably kickstart one of the most polarizing alliances on TV.
Thankfully, The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 1 delivers a compelling tale that ushers in an exciting next chapter for The Walking Dead franchise.
All six episodes were provided for critics, highlighting AMC's confidence that fans will connect with this next chapter.
The series picks up several years after The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 24, with Maggie on a quest to New York City to locate her son.

Though it was designed to be the "zombie movie that never ends," "The Walking Dead" has finally concluded after eleven seasons, but never fear. The saga of your favorite crossbow-wielding, squirrel-eating character will continue in the new six-episode spin-off, "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon."
Actor, motorcycle enthusiast, and all-around Boondock saint Norman Reedus — who has doubled as host of the AMC travel series "Ride with Norman Reedus" — will reprise his role as Daryl, so there's no need to worry about this being some kind of "Young Sheldon" or "Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" situation.
Like his older brother, the late Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker), Daryl is a character who never existed in the original "Walking Dead" comic book series, but he has been with the TV franchise since the very beginning. His first appearance was in a season 1 episode of "The Walking Dead" called "Tell It to the Frogs," and he's...

Speaking at WonderCon, Dead City creator Eli Jorné hyped the upcoming series. “It’s The Walking Dead like we’ve never seen it before. We haven’t really lived in a city like this…It’s New York; there’s skyscrapers up to the sky and a million and a half walkers. And for characters like Maggie and Negan, who’ve been running through the woods for a long time, it’s just a whole new world that’s just extremely claustrophobic, scary, and also, as you’ll discover, has pockets of survivors,...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine alum Terry Crews has been tapped as the lead and also will executive produce JumpStart, CBS’ multi-camera comedy pilot based on Robb Armstrong’s long-running comic strip. Wayne Conley (The Best Man) penned the TV adaptation for the project from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, Wendi Trilling’s TrillTV and CBS Studios. Phill Lewis will direct and executive produce the pilot, replacing Kelly Park due to changes in the production schedule; Park is directing NBC’s comedy pilot Non-Evil Twin instead.
Based on the popular comic strip that debuted in 1989, JumpStart is set in Philadelphia and follows Joseph L. Cobb (Crews), a cop, his wife Marcy, a nurse, and Joe’s partner Crunchy.
Crews’ Joe Cobb is a devoted husband, son, father and Philadelphia police officer. He is also a proud Black man and often feels pressured to be flawless in each of his roles, especially in light of controversies surrounding cops.

Last month, AMC announced that the eighth season of Fear the Walking Dead, which is set to begin airing on May 14th, will be the final season. Now cinematographer David Morrison has taken to Instagram to mark the fact that filming is underway on the series finale. Morrison said, “Been looking forward to this for a while. Years in the making. Let’s do this!” The series finale is being directed by Michael E. What is dead may never die — wait, wrong franchise. Anyway, AMC's "The Walking Dead" might be as dead as a Walker, but the network's larger zombie universe is still very much shambling along. Just over half a year after its mother show wrapped up in November 2022, the property is coming back with "The Waking Dead: Dead City," a six-part spinoff mini-series that will follow Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) and Negan Smith (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) on a new adventure to Manhattan to rescue Maggie's kidnapped son, Hershel, from a mysterious figure in the form of Željko Ivanek's "The Croat."
Maggie and Negan, as everybody knows, are the best of friends and there's absolutely nothing in the way of bad blood between those two, so no doubt this rescue operation will be perfectly easy and drama-free. You can get a sneak peek at the duo's relaxing trip to the Big...

AMC wants the 200 million profits lawsuit from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and fellow executive producers to be D.O.A.
“Having lost resoundingly in state court on different theories, Plaintiffs are at it again, now asking this Court to hand them a multimillion-dollar windfall through a new argument that finds no support in the plain language or purpose of the contractual provision (known as a ‘most favored nation’ or ‘Mfn’ clause) on which Plaintiffs rely,” the James Dolan-led company declares in a motion to dismiss memorandum filed late last week in federal court (read it here).
If you are confused, let’s be clear: This is not about the Twd profit participation action alleging sleight of hand that Kirkman, Hurd, David Alpert, Charles Eglee and ex-showrunner Glen Mazzara filed in 2017 against AMC. After being sliced and diced in a mini-trial in 2020, and then hacked...

The Walking Dead: Dead City follows Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland.
The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy,...

The end is only the beginning when it comes to AMC’s Walking Dead universe. Although its flagship zombie series came to an end in 2022 after 11 seasons, there’s more walker drama to be had in 2023. Beyond a new season of Fear the Walking Dead and a potential renewal for the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead, AMC has lined up three more spinoff shows starring the franchise’s most popular characters. Yes, that means you haven’t seen the last of Rick, Michonne, Maggie, Negan, or Daryl.
Here’s a breakdown of the new Walking Dead series launching in 2023:
Maggie and Negan in Dead City
The Walking Dead‘s most unlikely duo are getting their own six-episode spinoff but it isn’t another zombie-filled rampage through Virginia. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) are going on a road trip to the Big Apple for the appropriately named Dead City.

“Top Gun: Maverick” is, without a doubt, one of Hollywood’s biggest success stories. The long-awaited follow-up to the 1986 cult classic film “Top Gun,” “Maverick’s” domestic theatrical gross soared over 700 million; making it one of the top 5 highest-grossing North American films of all time, alongside “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Avatar.”
There are a lot of things about “Maverick” that make it worthy of such sweeping success: epic, adrenaline-pinching stunts performed by the franchise’s frontman Tom Cruise, whip-smart dialogue and heartwarming friendships and relationships that are impossible not to root for.
But one of the elements that audiences are most taken with in the new film is that it is a great throwback experience that provides the perfect dosage of nostalgia from “Top Gun.” With that in mind, we saw it high time we look back at the characters in the...

We recently saw the season finale of The Walking Dead series after an impressive 11 seasons. This, however, never meant the end of our walking dead journey. In fact, it is simply the beginning as the show sets the wheels turning for spin-off series you have to watch. The already existing spin-offs like Fear The Walking Dead and Tales Of The Walking Dead, and the ones yet to be released like Walking Dead: Dead City, are all meant for your blood-curdling entertainment, and none I’m sure will disappoint. As a walking dead fan, I know you simply can’t wait for

However one feels about 11 seasons of The Walking Dead (and the many spinoffs to come), it’s hard to deny that its pilot is a thrilling hour of television.
“Days Gone Bye,” which first aired on Halloween night 2010, adapts the first issue of Robert Kirkman’s zombie comic of the same name on a nearly panel-by-panel basis, following Kentucky sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) as he wakes up from a coma in a hospital to a world overrun by the dead. The suddenness of it all is a real treat for viewers as they’re taken aback and given the opportunity to discover a terrifying new post-apocalyptic reality right alongside Rick.
Given that The Walking Dead as a television franchise is now more than 12 years old, has three spinoffs to its name, and several more to come (The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon to start...
