A vastly interesting and eerie documentary showing footage that is quite extraordinary. Truly unique phenomena this woman captures with her camera. Now, I sometimes have to take these kinds of documentaries with a grain of salt sadly because of all these fake stuff labeled as "documentaries", but there's no denying that this is more than likely legit. Just further proves that we are indeed not alone, and possibly most "orb" or "ghost sightings" aren't actually dead people, but actually extraterrestrials. I'm convinced, but at the same time, not quite. Purely speculation, and not 100% what I believe. I definitely think there's something here; we just don't know what yet. Could this woman be fooling all of us? Sure. Do I buy that after watching this and furthering my research into her? Nope. I believe her.

A fascinating, thought provoking film that deals with UFO's, 'Light Beings' and the grandmother that's been filming them for over 30 years.
joegooch25 January 2012
Frank Longo has done an excellent job of capturing the story and experiences of Dorothy Izatt, a grandmother living in Vancouver, who has had contact with 'Light beings' and bizarre aerial light phenomena for over 30 years. The film, which as well as interviewing Dorothy and showing some of her remarkable footage, also spends time with her family to get their perspectives on her incredible experiences and how it's affected Dorothy and them. Not all of her family members are as open to what Dorothy claims to be in contact with as she is, but their own doubts and scepticism are put to the test when the documentary film-makers reveal that they may have caught more than they bargained for! If you are interested in UFO's, contact with 'other worldly beings' or just a fascinating and thought provoking story, 'Capturing The Light' is highly recommended and gives a refreshingly different perspective on what 'alien' contact may actually be like.

Had me, and then lost me.

Warning: Spoilers
I was convinced of the veracity of Dorothy's claims at the beginning of the film, and I thought the experts were giving good analysis of her footage; but the later segment of the film threw all of that into doubt, for me.

(spoiler warning, if that matters, for a documentary) The interview with Dorothy's daughter, in the kitchen, with the light which they are all mystified by... They present it as an unexplained light outside the window, moving back and forth like the lights Dorothy filmed so many times. But it's clearly a reflection against a closed window. It moves opposite the camera. When the camera moves, the light moves. But the movement of the light is more perceptible and pronounced than the motion of the camera that's taking the shot, so I suppose it isn't immediately detectable to some people that the two are moving at the same time. But if you're using some discernment, it's so obvious... It's definitely a reflection. Anyone who has ever walked past a window or mirror should be able to see it for what it is. And yet they go on and on about it... And they bring in more experts to discuss whether or not it's CGI, and the entire family is mystified by it, and the film wants us to believe it's PROBABLY a UFO out the window. But since it's clearly not, it makes me wonder why they're pushing that idea at us for such a large segment of the film. Are they all really that foolish, or are they knowingly trying to deceive us? And whichever is the case, can we trust anything else in the documentary either? For me, it causes me to doubt even the first part of the film, of which I had previously been convinced.

So, watch it and judge for yourself. But always ask questions about whatever you see or hear. I do believe there are strange things in this world... But I also KNOW that there are people who want to convince you of things that aren't true. So always be open to possibilities...but don't just believe everything. And this, I don't believe.

Mesmerizing
My only complaint on this astounding documentary is it is far too short. I think another 45 minutes to it would have been great so it could show more footage from her endless amounts of reels. Somehow this has become more of a hidden gem and definitely needs more exposure and examination with all the evidence at hand. Any doubters who watch this film will quickly change their mind in the last 15 minutes or so when ironically, the documentary crew captures actual footage. Don't waste time reading this review; go watch the movie now!

Warning: Spoilers
Great premise for a documentary on this subject, and Dorothy comes across as very sincere lady..buy that's a bout it, some random footage of some lights in the distance and it just ends, very little if no investigation. 45 mins of my life I'll not get back

Best UFO documentary ever made
joetulgan15 July 2020
The reason I say this is the best ever made is simply because Dorothy is such a sweetheart and I truly believe her. Most people who have met her have come to the same conclusion--she is telling the truth, and she has the video to prove it.

The evidence is compelling. Dorothy has yet to be debunked as a scam, and after you watch the film, you will see why.

Compelling, inspiring and beautiful documentary.

Where is the proof?
skullfire-4801220 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
They showed plenty of lights, but, not one UFO, not one alien, just lights. She only had a story of being visited and hearing voices, that is not proof.

Best doc on the subject, period!
riotfilms10 July 2019
Just watch it and you'll see why so many call this the best UFO doc ever. No flash, no biased narration, just a look into a person's life whose dealt with it for 30 plus years. As for reviewer ColdZro (Had me, and then lost me), one side of the window was open so there's no possibility of a reflection off glass. How now brown cow?

What's in this movie:

"I've got film footage of white dots and streaks against a black background. The dots and streaks are extraterrestrials, light beings, maybe even Jesus Christ returning to Earth, etc."

"OMG, that must be true! She's so credible!"

There. I just saved you 45 minutes and 45 seconds. You can thank me later.

Our Family Knew Her. 100% real deal.
davemueller23 September 2021
Joan is my wife's Aunt and was a very close friend of Dorothy Izatt. There's no scam here I guarantee you that. How to prove it ? Well you can not! You would need to capture a ufo to prove it. These filmes were 100% never altered. She is a little old lady with a big heart just like you see in the film and her family dis beleaved it at first as well. I have never met her but I know Aunt Joan and she would never lie about this. I would love to meet Dorthoy but Auntie Joan is gone now so it would be difficult to reach out. I'm not even sure if Dorothy Izatt is still with us? I believe that this is real. Thanks Dave Mueller/Bright.

What a joke

Dots on the screen so what ? A few people are interviewed that attest to her veracity that she is telling the truth but all we see are dark screens with white dots. Very repetitive. Interviewees say the same thing over and over that she is credible. But we never see anything but dots on a screen.

Just watch it. Not a waste of time. I hadn't heard of Dorothy Izatt but I think she is legit and her footage is captivating.

If you are impressed by dots on a screen you'll love it
cary_howe27 June 2021
It's not what they keep claiming. The first five minutes is people telling you how blown away you'll be. All I saw was white dots against black. The lines they show on a single frame couldn't be a single object moving. There could be random light leak causing it in the camera. I just watched the beginning and end so I have no idea what happens beyond that but I scanned it and the whole film looked like the first five minutes and when I paused the film it was always someone raving about how awesome it all was. Claiming you have proof requires actual proof and not a bunch of random dots. They claim they took all precautions but a magician would do a facepalm at what they called precautions. They only let her have the camera all alone for the whole night but they processed the film themselves. So it was impossible for her to fake it when she had a whole night to herself? Filming a bunch of people telling you how incredible it is isn't a documentary. I gave it a three but the truth is as far as proof of UFOs I'd give it a one star. They do show some actual moving film at the end but it was some of the least impressive footage I've ever seen. Anyone serious about the subject lost interest in lights in the sky decades ago. There's simply too many things they can be.

Thank you, Dorothy Izatt!

Warning: Spoilers
I love watching this film. I am not looking for proof but I am looking for intersubjective experience and this film has it. For years only Dorothy saw the lights she says are interdimensional beings, but then, she was able to point them out to her daughter, too. Finally, her family watches footage of them and are astounded. Digital film experts explain in detail why her footage cannot be fabricated. She says they communicate with her telepathically. She says they have outgrown our violent impulses and fear that we are toying with forces that can rent the veil between their world and ours. They want us to recognize we are responsible not just for ourselves but also for other worlds that can be damaged by our technological escapades. For that thought alone, the film is worth watching as a reminder that we are not alone on this planet, nor in the solar system or universe. Many still have closed minds, but minds one day will open and this film helps a lot.

Scam, not even a good one
jeffdstockton15 July 2022
They all assert the woman has 30,000 feet of fim 'proof' of UFOs - alien craft - and beings, yet all that is shown - which isn't much - are the same half-dozen or so of still frames & 2-4 seconds of film footage. This is just a series of droning interviews - talking heads in camera - asserting their own 'investigations' into the woman & her film, all with reasons to believe - and concluding the it's all real.

Wow.... This is just another cheap film made to profit, marginally, on the suckers of the world.

These people seem to not understand how this crap just hurts their supposed cause. It's almost shameful that it's carried on Amazon Prime Video, but, there's a willing market - hey, I watched - so....

Freaked me out a little
pchefsheila3 July 2022
To the person who said the lights in the window were a reflection, you obviously either weren't listening or didn't watch that movie in it's entirety because they clarified that one side was open. There was no glass to reflect. It was a screen.

I shouldn't have watched this alone.

Maybe the ringing in my ears all this time are aliens trying to get a message to me? Lol.

Simple camera trick, don't be naive!
wojbon28 July 2023
I'm a camera tech. Actually anyone who ever shot film should be able to see through this primitive camera trick. This is how it's done: shoot a few seconds of footage, quickly set to a single frame, shoot couple frames and get it back to regular speed. The lights blow bright because more light is getting to the film on single frame (1 frame per second) and the lights also move leaving irregular tracks because her hand was shaking.

If that happened using just one camera, I'd say that the mechanism was jamming but since she said that she used several cameras, that proves she did it deliberately. You can do the same thing using digital camera. Point it at lights at night just like she did and shoot it at 1 second shutter speed in manual mode or shutter priority mode. You'll capture a UFO and become famous. I just can't believe these people and most viewers fall for this silly trick.

This is one of the most sensational things I have EVER watched in my entire life!!!
lucianamsimon29 December 2021
My husband Shane and I were not UFO people until we watched this documentary. After that, there's no doubt in our minds. We got so impressed and in love with it, that we've been showing it to people that didn't believe in it until now. Whether you believe it or not, please, watch it. If you're not TOTALLY in denial and afraid of it, there's no way it won't change your view on that. After we watched it, we had trouble shutting down our minds to sleep, because of how in awe we were. Not only my husband and I, but everyone we've shown it so far! Outstanding, incredible!!!

Different from all the rest!
umw-8319525 February 2023
This was a completely different view of the usual UFO movies/documentary.

I never have questioned the fact that there are other beings in the universe.

But for me, I find it fascinating the way they have established this "relationship" and it seems to come from complete trust.

Wonderful and very interesting.

I have no doubt that this woman is credible and very special.

Also, the reactions of the family is humorous that some belive completely and others are still on the shelf.

What more proof do you need?

I have recommended this to everyone I know.

Would like to find out more from this case.
