Terrible Episode
claudio_carvalho5 July 2023
The Rascal Flatts are playing in Las Vegas, when out of the blue, the bass players Jay DeMarcus is electrocuted during the gig. Catherine, Nick and Greg assume the investigation and try to figure out what happened. Meanwhile, the dead body of a fisherman is found in the river and Langston and Sara assume the investigation. Soon they learn that the victim is the retired CIA director Vance Colton, and the CIA wants to assume the investigation.

"Unshockable" is a terrible episode of "CSI". The two segments are weak and annoying. Rascal Flatts spending many minutes playing songs is irritating. Jay DeMarcus enjoying hip-hop after the electrocution is ridiculous. The dead CIA agent case is clichés, with the usual "fight" between the police and governmental agencies. Langston has some secrets since he knows CIA Associate Director Craig Halliday. My vote is six.

Country music, CIA, and CSI all on CBS

Warning: Spoilers
Rascal Flatts fans probably love this episode and seeing the guys perform, one gets hurt, flirts with Catherine and can't remember being a country music singer. Very light, funny story, and all is well in the end when who you suspect as the bad guy is the bad guy. The obsessive fan is truly comic relief. We learn Nick doesn't have to like country music just because he is from Texas, and Doc Robbins knows his guitars. Second "B" story, Langston and Sara work the death of a retired CIA big shot who is found in Lake Mead, canoe missing. We hear a comment about Grissom and Sara's honeymoon and a canoe. Of course the CIA comes in, as do the bad guy Germans, the story takes more directions than a squid and then they find Sarin, and Langston knows all the answers before anyone else, meets with the CIA guy who seems to know Langston's dad in the past. While this episode wasn't a complete wash,it doesn't hold up to writing from past seasons. Too much of Langston and his vast knowledge of everything. Rascal Flatts was enjoyable,Jorja Fox is lovely, but the CIA-German-son connection was a real stretch. The CIA guy offers Langston a job, let's hope he takes it.

What a Waste of Time

First of all, we have about ten minutes taken up with performances by Rascal Flatts. I really like these guys, but this is CSI. Not the Grammy Awards. The electrocution of the bass player is ridiculous and his memory loss and movement toward rap is even worse. Interesting, but also rather limited in accessibility is the CIA guy getting killed and all the horses brought in, taking over the case. Ray apparently knows the lead guy but things are left so unsettled it really wasn't worth the trip.

Warning: Spoilers
Utter. I can't believe the writer was one of the scribes for the original Sniper movie. It's like he pinched off a massive loaf onto a pile of paper and turned it in.

The cardboard CIA-Stasi and guitar tech killer stories just fall flat. I was actually "impressed" with Rascal Flatts' performance - they did pretty well for guys who probably only get to do concert/stage acting. It wasn't anything amazing, but they did a good job considering. I'd really rather see music acts just keep showing up for cameos, instead of playing acting roles, a la John Mayer etc.

Please, please, let this poor show rest. Or fix it. With respect to Larry Fishburne's worthy performance, and the rest of the cast trying their best to hang on, the show has been limping and gasping for a while now. Even though I'm a long time fan, I'm begging the company to just let it go, soon.
