Reggie Wallis, lead singer for the celebrity pop group The Queenmakers, died in his dressing room for a Great Slaughter performance -hence canceled- from an allergic reaction to a bee sting, which Sister Boniface proves murder by finding the dead bee and Wallis' shirt collar smeared with glue and pollen. Gillespie and Livingstone investigate the rivalries among the band, their conniving manager and Wallis' pregnant, secret wife, whom he planned to divorce. Ruth Penny finds an early roadie had committed suicide exactly two years earlier. The testament favors the band mate who actually wrote most songs but was never credited. Pollen combinations found on the dead bee lead to the manor garden the bee had come from. WPC Peggy Button, who had a crush on Wallis, finds her police career jeopardized.
