Prime Video has revealed its top traveling non-English local originals in the history of the service, with Spanish YA romance “My Fault” and French crime thriller “Medellín” topping the list.
Both are feature films that launched in the last two weeks across Prime Video’s footprint in 240 countries around the world. Interestingly, both titles have more than 75% of their viewership coming from outside their country of origin, though Prime Video hasn’t disclosed any further metrics related to ratings or impressions. Of the list (available in full below), 60% are movies and 40% are TV series.
While it makes sense for local originals like Prime Video’s unscripted format “Lol” to perform well in their home countries — “Big local stars and very local comedy — those don’t really travel beyond their borders,” explains James Farrell, VP of international originals for Amazon Studios — the reason the streamer is highlighting this crop of non-English...

While the stars of Netflix's new teen dramedy "Fakes" might run a fake-id empire on screen, both actors insist they never used any false identification in real life before hitting legal drinking age. That's not exactly true for everyone they know, though. "Sorry, Mom, I'm going to put you on blast here . . . she did-ish," Jennifer Tong laughs. "She used her older sister's fake ID to sneak into clubs. I guess she's a bit more of a badass than I am."
Though Tong might not see herself as a badass, her character, Rebecca Li, certainly is. The teenage Rebecca navigates challenging family dynamics, crushes, and friendships with a flair for style as she and her best friend - stressed-out, superstar student Zoe Christensen (played by "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" alum Emilija Baranac) - inadvertently build one of North America's largest fake-id rings. Another summer of content has come and gone in the streaming world. And to celebrate the arrival of fall, Netflix is filling its list of new releases for September 2022 with, what else? More content!
Netflix is never shy about loading up its servers each month but September 2022 is a particularly packed time for the streamer, particularly when it comes to movies. The list of prominent Netflix original movies includes: road trip thriller End of the Road (Sept. 9), Maya Hawke and Camila Mendes-starring dark comedy Do Revenge (Sept. 16), and the Marilyn Monroe epic biopic Blonde (Sept. 28).
That’s not even to mention the usual arrival of new library titles, which are particularly juicy this fall. September 1 sees the arrival of A Clockwork Orange, Clueless, Scarface, and more. Meanwhile This is the End is set to roll on Sept. 16.

Netflix is gearing up for a busy end to 2022.
September seems to be a calm before the storm-of-sorts – the storm being a deluge of films set to be awards contenders when Oscar season rolls around.
The first of the streaming service’s high-profile films, set to arrive in the tail-end of the year, will be Andrew Dominik’s Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde, starring Ana de Armas.
Elsewhere, there is a bunch of non-Netflix films set to be added over the course of the month, as well as the return of everyone’s favourite Karate Kid spin-off TV series.
This list has been compiled by The Independent, with additional assistance from the team at What’s on Netflix – and you can find the full compilation of everything being removed this month here.

Superstore vet Lauren Ash is trading big box stores for the newsroom: The actress has joined ABC’s midseason comedy Not Dead Yet, which stars Gina Rodriguez as Nell Stevens, a self-described disaster who takes a job writing obituaries.
Per our sister site Deadline, Ash will play the series-regular role of Lexi, who is the daughter of a wealthy newspaper owner and recently appointed editor. She is described as comedically out of touch with how normal people live, thanks to her upbringing in the rarefied world of boarding schools and private planes.

“All good things come to an end. And by good things, I mean a sick penthouse, matching supercars, stupidly hot guys and vodka — way too much vodka,” narrates Jennifer Tong in the first seconds of Netflix’s new trailer for “Fakes,” a series that traces the delirious success and eventual downfall of a teen-built fake ID empire, right before the FBI raids her party.
The 10-episode half-hour dramedy tells the story of two best friends who accidentally build one of the largest fake ID businesses in North America. Deploying regular fourth wall breaks, “Fakes” traces the unraveling of their relationship in tandem with their skyrocketing success. As they get involved with a shady store employee that moves their products and blow through their mounting stacks of cash, the empire spirals out of control — eventually leading to one of the girl’s being jailed. Described as a “story of their ultimate betrayal,...
