Paramount has decided to not move forward with a second season of “Wolf Pack,” Variety has confirmed.
Based on Edo Van Belkom’s book series and created by Jeff Davis, the show follows two teens whose lives are changed when a California wildfire awakens a supernatural creature. Season 1 aired in Jan 2023 alongside the “Teen Wolf” movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray starred.
Sources say Paramount hoped the audience behind the series would have grown from Season 1 to Season 2, but due to the dual Hollywood strikes, the likelihood of that happening was cut short since production was stopped. Season 2 would’ve arrived roughly two years after Season 1 debuted.
The series serves as the latest Paramount+ original to be canceled following “Joe Pickett,” which ended after two seasons in October 2023. Along with the rest of last year’s cancellations including “iCarly,...

Paramount+ is breaking up with two recent additions to its roster by canceling the Kiefer Sutherland spy drama Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction, starring Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan. Paramount+ is in slash-and-burn mode, with the company removing titles as a cost-cutting measure.
“We want to thank both series’ entire creative teams, crews and the fantastic casts for their dedication to bringing these series to life,” said the Paramount+ spokesperson. “Both Fatal Attraction and Rabbit Hole will continue to be available on Paramount+ for audiences to discover.”
Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction join Paramount‘s other canceled series, including Real World: Homecoming, The Twilight Zone, Interrogation, Coyote, No Activity, Guilty Party, and The Harper House. More cancelations hit the streaming service in June, with Star Trek: Prodigy, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Queen of the Universe, and The Game going the way of the dodo. Paramount+ is saying thanks but no thanks to second seasons of Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction.
Rabbit Hole was a spy drama that starred Kiefer Sutherland; Fatal Attraction was a reimagining of the 1987 movie that featured Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan.

Star Trek: Prodigy fans, rejoice! The series is boldly going to Netflix after its Paramount+ cancellation! The second season of Prodigy was halfway through production when Paramount pulled the plug, leaving fans floating among the stars with oxygen supplies steadily depleting. Thankfully, Netflix is picking up the previously aired first season with plans to air the second season once production is complete. Season one of Star Trek: Prodigy beams onto Netflix later this year, with the completed sophomore season coming in 2024.
Paramount+ kicked Star Trek: Prodigy out a pod bay door to take advantage of tax-write-offs alongside other series like Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, The Game, and Queen of the Universe. Paramount+’s “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” was nominated for two Emmys on Wednesday. There’s only one problem with these nominations: The show they’re for is impossible to watch.
That’s the odd reality the 75th Emmy Awards finds itself in during a time when streamers removing their own original content has become the norm.
Both of the nominations for “Rise of the Pink Ladies” were for Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming, a category that honored choreographer Jamal Sims for the routines used in the songs “New Cool,” “Hand Jive” and “The Boom” as well as choreographers Jeffrey Mortensen and Louise Hradsky for the routines featured in “Pulling Strings,” “Hit Me Again” and “High Rollin.'” Yet at present the average person cannot watch any of these awards-nominated performances.

The streaming era has ushered in an uncomfortable first: Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies has been nominated for two Emmy Awards, but as of the time of publishing, it can’t be watched anywhere. The Grease prequel series debuted on Paramount+ on April 6, airing weekly installments through June 1. Although it had been slowly building a cult following throughout its first season, the musical series was canceled on June 23, along with The Game, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Queen of the Universe. In addition, Paramount+ announced that all four shows would be removed from the streaming service, and they were, indeed, taken off it within a matter of days. The 2023 Emmy nominees were announced on Wednesday, July 12, about two weeks after Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies was scrubbed from existence (it exists now only in YouTube and TikTok videos and on music streaming services). It received two nominations in the...

Stream your bucket-list series and movies (note: 2008’s “The Bucket List” is only available on PVOD) while you still can — content removal is the new power move.
Last month, Paramount+ scrubbed shows “Inside Amy Schumer,” “From Cradle to Stage,” “Tell Me a Story,” “Ghislaine: Partner in Crime,” movies “Fantasy Football” and “Snow Day,” and a crop of Nickelodeon series from its archives, a source confirmed to IndieWire. Showtime will no longer be moving forward with four shows — “Gattaca,” “Seasoned,” “Split” and “Sweetness” — TheWrap can confirm.
The decision not to move forward with “Gattaca” came down to financials, a source familiar with the matter told TheWrap. At present, Showtime is interested in investing more in IP the network owns versus leased IP.
All projects will have the opportunity to be shopped elsewhere.
Little is known about the four projects, which were in development. Alex Gansa was announced to showrun and executive produce “Gattaca,” the TV adaptation of the 1997 sci-fi movie, with Gansa’s partner Howard Gordon executive producing. “Seasoned” was a scripted comedy from Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody that is based on their real-life relationship. “Sweetness” came from writer, director and producer Nick Stoller and Oscar-winner Emerald Fennell and has been described as a “female-driven anthology project.” Even less is known about “Split.”

After a year of questionable decisions from streaming services that involve password sharing, app overhauls, advertisement tiers, removal of content and so on, the bubble is somewhat bursting as companies look to regain profitability through the purging of shows. It was not long ago that news broke about the streaming platform, Paramount+, canceling a number of projects, including Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy, The Game and Queen of the Universe. Not only is the streamer canceling these movies and shows, but they’re removing the titles from the application as well to reap the benefits of a content write-down.
Deadline now reports that more shows have been put on the chopping block over at Paramount+. One of the bigger names that is getting purged is the return of the sketch comedy show Inside Amy Schumer, which had returned to continue its run with a fifth season in six years.

Inside Amy Schumer returned to Paramount+ after six years for its fifth season – a season that Paramount was hoping could score an Emmy nomination to compete against the likes of SNL and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Paramount+ is apparently willing to follow the crowd in hopes of streaming profitability. The service became the latest streamer to cancel original series and immediately announce their removal from the platform, as news broke Friday that shows like “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,” “The Game,” “Star Trek: Prodigy,” and “Queen of the Universe” will soon disappear.

The shows are being removed in the name of helping Paramount peak its streaming losses, and start the climb to profitability. The company will see an impairment charge for pulling the titles, though unlike Disney it probably won’t rack up close to $2 billion in such fees. Paramount is taking Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery’s lead in a more general sense, following the pattern of cancelations and content removals for streamers of both those companies.

In the aftermath of the stunning news that Paramount+ has canceled Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies after a single season, series creator Annabel Oakes is speaking out about the situation.
Oakes confirmed via Instagram that the show will not return for another season.
"In a particularly brutal move, it is also being removed from @paramountplus next and, unless it finds a new home, you will no longer be able to watch it anywhere." she wrote.
"The cast, my creative partners, and I are all devastated at the complete erasure of our show."
The decision to end the series was a bitter pill to swallow for the show's passionate fanbase, but it's difficult knowing that shows are being erased from existence due to content write-downs.

What a drag. Paramount+ has cancelled the Queen of the Universe TV series, so the streamer won't be making a third season. Not only that, the show is being pulled from the service less than two weeks after the last batch of episodes were released.

‘Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies’ Creator Calls Paramount+ Cancellation “A Particularly Brutal Move”
The creator of the Paramount+ series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies says she is “devastated” that the series is not only canceled but will be removed from the streaming service.
Earlier Friday, Paramount+ canceled several of its original series, including Pink Ladies as well as Star Trek: Prodigy, Queen of the Universe and The Game. The streamer is also taking the series off the platform as a content write-down.
Reacting to the news, creator Annabel Oakes wrote on her Instagram Stories: “In a particularly brutal move, it is also being removed from @paramountplus next and unless it finds a new home you will no longer be able to watch it anywhere. Oakes thanked the “beautiful fans” who have engaged with series and reminded them that “the music will remain even after the show is taken down.

Paramount+ is in slash-and-burn mode after canceling several original series, including Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy, Queen of the Universe, and The Game. Paramount is taking these titles off its streaming platform to reap the benefits of a content write-down. Sadly, two shows in the lineup won’t make it past their first season.

Well, Paramount+ went there.
The streaming service on Friday canceled a wave of original series, and there are some shockers.
Before we dig into the cancellations, the canceled shows will be removed from its platform as the company takes a content write-down.
The news isn't too surprising. HBO Max opened the floodgates for the likes of Showtime and Starz to pull shows off the air and their platforms.
In fact, some shows didn't even see the light of day. It's a precedent that is a stark reminder of how media companies are set up nowadays.
We'll begin with Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, which launched earlier this year.
Despite a strong critical response, the series will not be returning.
"Before rock 'n' roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, four fed-up outcasts dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever,...

Add Paramount+ to the list of streamers that have removed content from their platforms in exchange for a tax write-off.
The Paramount Global-backed streamer has canceled Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies after a single season, reversed its decision on a season-two pickup for the animated and kids-focused Star Trek: Prodigy, axed competition series Queen of the Universe after two seasons, and nixed a revival of The Game after two seasons. Additionally, all four shows will be removed from Paramount+ as the conglomerate joins Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery in taking tax write-offs for underperforming series. The news comes as Paramount+ will incorporate Showtime into the platform in the U.S. on Tuesday.

While the LGBTQ community and its allies celebrate Pride this June, conservative legislators across the country continue to push through bills that strip rights from queer people. For longtime “RuPaul’s Drag Race” judge and producer Michelle Visage, the anti-lgbtq rhetoric and legislation are distractions while other rights that affect even wider populations — like abortion and education — are also being targeted.

Paramount+‘s Queen of the Universe has everything you expect from a singing competition show: live singing, elaborately produced numbers, live voting, a star-studded judges panel, and a host of equal star power. But it ups the ante when the cast performs everything in drag. “The difference between, let’s say, Drag Race and Queen of the Universe is, these are singers first,” says judge/Drag Race All Stars winner Trixie Mattel. “They’re primarily vocal artists, and they do drag. I’m gonna be honest, I’m speaking for them: The drag only complicates things up there.” Evaluating those complicated numbers are Mattel, her fellow Drag Race star Michelle Visage, and Vanessa Williams as returning judges, with Graham Norton as host and Spice Girl Mel B. joining the judges’ panel for Season 2 (the first two episodes are streaming on Paramount+ as of June 2). Visage has been adjudicating RuPaul’s Drag Race for years.

She looks like Linda Evangelista. She’s a model. And now, Valentina is the cohost of “Drag Race Mexico” alongside global superstar Lolita Banana.
The announcement was made Friday on the main stage of DragCon LA, the world’s largest annual drag convention.
Valentina rose to fame during Season 9 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” The judges were enamored with her beauty and style, but her run ended after she famously protested taking off her facemask during her elimination lip-sync against Nina Bonina Brown, placing seventh.
She would later compete in “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4,” also finishing seventh. She’s appeared in her own Wow Presents Plus series and modeled in several fashion magazines, including Vogue Mexico, and appeared in Fox’s live musical “Rent.”
