Even better than I thought!

I started watching the 4 episodes of The Canterville Ghost basically on a whim, not expecting it to totally captivate my attention. I LOVE this 4 part show!! I wish it could've gone on far longer! Totally approve it for everyone! Love it!!

No improvement yet.

The Otis family are tricked into holding a social event, little realising it has Royal involvement.

It was decent Christmas telly, but second episode down, and I'm still not totally convinced, there is something so incredibly clunky about the whole thing. The story of The American family thrust into British social life is interesting, again though I just wish they'd used some American accents, Lance and Catz, they're just off.

It's not a bad retelling of the great story, but it's so long winded, it just feels as though it's ambling past at a snail's pace.

At least we get to hear Sir Simon's story, it's taken some time, but we finally get it. Unfortunately, those special effects look like they're come from the 1980's.

Once again, it's Haydn Gwynne who steals the show as the scathing, scheming Lady Jennifer.

I can't help but compare it to The David Niven version, and this is nowhere near that standard, the essence and charm of the story just isn't here.

5/10.
