jboothmillard9 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I always look forward to both the BAFTA television and film awards, but the film awards are definitely my favourite ceremony, especially if I have seen the films nominated, so I can hope certain ones win. Hosted by Jonathan Ross, 2010 saw some great films nominated and winning the famous golden mask award, in all the categories: Best Film, Best British Film, Best Leading Actor, Best Leading Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Screenplay, Best Music, Best Animated Film, the Fellowship award, Outstanding British Contribution To Cinema, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Editing, Best Film not in the English Language, Best Makeup & Hair, Best Production Design, Best Rising Star, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Short Film and Best Short Animation. Films nominated and winning in this year included: An Education, Avatar, Coco Before Chanel, Coraline, Crazy Heart, District 9, Exam, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Fish Tank, The Gruffalo, The Hangover, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Hurt Locker, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, In the Loop, Inglourious Basterds, It's Complicated, Julie & Julia, Let the Right One In, The Lovely Bones, Me and Orson Welles, Moon, Nine, Nowhere Boy, Precious, A Prophet, The Road, A Serious Man, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, A Single Man, Star Trek, Up in the Air, Up and The Young Victoria. It also included a tribute to all the filmmakers and stars who had passed away in the last year, including Lionel Jeffries, Natasha Richardson, Peter Rogers, Jean Simmons, Richard Todd and Edward Woodward. Stars seen at the ceremony, and nominated or winning, included Kathryn Bigelow, Jeff Bridges, James Cameron, Matt Dillon, Pete Docter, Colin Firth, Alfred Molina, Carey Mulligan, Robert Pattinson, Prince William, Vanessa Redgrave, Mickey Rourke, Gabourey Sidibe, Kristen Stewart, Meryl Streep, Quentin Tarantino, Audrey Tautou, Kristin Scott Thomas, Stanley Tucci, Christoph Waltz and Kate Winslet. Very good!
