Charming Film and Production Team
lifeisbreath26 January 2011
We caught this on vacation last summer at the Provincetown Film Festival and were still talking about it in the car back a few days later. The story had heart and the characters were easy to pull for, but what was truly surprising was the strength of the script. Funny, surprising, and sincere in a small enough package to leave you wanting more, while at the same time feeling fulfilled by the experience. The writer and director were both on hand as part of a panel discussion after the fact, and we were struck equally by their charm, poise, insight, and YOUTH... but they didn't give many clues about their next project. Does anyone know if they won the festival, or what they're doing next?

Excellent

Well done - Could easily see this as a full length feature. Characters are well defined, very real. A Cape Cod coming of age tale. Doesn't necessarily have to be Cape Cod - this could happen anywhere. I was fortunate to see this at the theater on a big screen. The Provincetown Filmfest in June - where it won Best Short - it was very well received by the audience, people enjoyed it and seemed to want more. The music was also excellent. I thought this movie was pure entertainment. I could definitely see this as a full length feature. I wanted to know the characters better, see more of their story. Very well written and very well casted. Pure enjoyment!

Cute story

This is a romantic little comedy with a realistic, local Cape Cod feel. The female lead is sweet and likable and her understated performance is perfect for this charming take on romance in a small town. The scenes in the bait shop are cute, with the usual cast of hometown nut-cases. The title reflects the game show ambitions of the lead character and her responses to the TV in her dark living room are playfully interjected into the stream of the film. The male lead is handsome and charming and the attraction between them is obvious. The dream sequence is a little odd but overall, the writing is sharp and I loved the ending!

whimsical character study

I happened upon this film on-line and pretty soon forgot I was watching a movie on the computer. I'd have given it a 10 except the store manager reminded me too much of The Office central character, the way his part was written. But he's not important to the film's key appeal. Top job with production -- meaning I was unaware of it. The dialogue spot on, but still delightfully unexpected in parts. I wanted to know what happened to these people and the twist at the end gave me one of those satisfied ka-chings where you say to yourself: Hey, I THOUGHT so (even tho you didn't quite make it there). The story should ring internal bells for harboring those grass-is-always-greener blues (to mix my color metaphors). This story pulls at you, the lead characters both have that guy-girl next door appeal, at the same time they're larger than life. This is a lot of film for 37 minutes, or whatever it was!
