World War 2 ended on 2 September 1945 when the Japanese delegation signed the articles of surrender on the deck of US battleship USS Missouri. In addition to detailing the surrender, this documentary covers the history of the ship and in particular the wartime lives of a few of her crew. These crewmen were there when Japan surrendered.
Reasonably interesting. I only watched this for the surrender ceremony part so the additional history seemed a bit unnecessary. The lives of the crewmen was fairly interesting though and added a personal dimension to proceedings and on the war in general.
I could have done without the narrator. Whatever possessed the producers to hire a ultra-hick-sounding country musician to narrate a documentary detailing an incredibly significant moment in history. The role called for far more gravitas.
