Learn more- After a night in which virtually every couple gave its best performance of the season, the stage might have been set for a big upset.
Hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke called the first two couples to center stage immediately for results: Nicole & Derek and Erin & Maks. The first couple to land in the bottom two was Erin & Maks. Nicole & Derek were safe.
Len's take: Head judge Len Goodman was still excited after Monday's performances, calling it the best week of the competition. He called Erin's quickstep "fabulous." He included Chad among the group of dancers who have upped their games and said his waltz was "absolutely lovely." Nicole lamented slipping during a dramatic turn in her waltz. Pam was full of grace, Len said, and she was hoping to continue pulling it all together. Len said Niecy produced "a knockout quickstep." He wrapped up his summary by reminding us that Evan "blew everyone out of the water" with his Argentine tango, which earned the first 30 of the season.
Len was giddy about Team Gaga's cha cha cha, and it was the encore performance of the night. Pam sat out this time, though, having suffered an injury on Tuesday. Chelsie Hightower took her place.
Be our guest: Train paid a visit to perform their latest single, "Hey Soul Sister." Later, members of Cirque de Soleil's new Vegas show, "Viva Elvis," stopped by to perform to some Elvis tunes. Train then returned to perform their best known song, "Drops of Jupiter."
Leader board check:
(individual scores plus team scores):
Evan & Anna: 30 + 24 = 54
Nicole & Derek: 27 + 27 = 54
Chad & Cheryl: 25 +27 = 52
Erin & Maks: 27 + 24 = 51
Pam & Damian: 24 + 27 = 51
Niecy & Louis: 25 + 24 = 49
Back to the results: Tom called Chad & Cheryl and Evan & Anna to center stage to learn their fate. Evan & Anna were declared safe. Chad & Cheryl were "still in jeopardy."
In some quick backstage interviews, Pam said her leg injury wasn't serious and she'd be able to perform next week if she makes it through. Niecy, meanwhile, lamented landing at the bottom and said that it might take "a wardrobe malfunction" for her to win this thing.
The two remaining couples, Pam & Damian and Niecy & Louis, were called to center stage for results. The next couple safe was -- "get ready for a wardrobe malfunction," Tom said, before the announcement -- Niecy & Louis. Pam & Damian were still in jeopardy.
Finally, with Chad & Cheryl and Pam & Damian waiting to learn which couple was in the bottom two, Tom revealed that the next couple safe was ... Chad & Cheryl. That meant Pam & Damian were in the bottom two with Erin & Maks.
Bruno said Pam "brings life to every character she plays" and that Erin has done "incredible work all the way through," adding that he was surprised to see her in trouble. Carrie Ann echoed that she was "truly shocked" to see Erin in the bottom two. Len called it "nonsensical" that one of the couples would be leaving this week.
Finally, Tom announced that the couple with the lowest combined total and leaving the show was ... Pamela & Damian.
