An overall fun anthology zombie effort with quite a lot to like about it
kannibalcorpsegrinder1 August 2023
In the middle of a town-wide crime wave, various individuals manage to come across a gruesome zombie outbreak in their city that affects not only their plans but their attempt at living and forces them to deal with the situation in their own manners.

This was a rather fun and enjoyable indie zombie anthology feature. What works really well here is the highly enjoyable setup that approaches the entire concept of a zombie outbreak in this anthology-style format. Taking on isolated segments of the outbreak with their own individual storyline and setup that allows the film to skip around the city showing how various individuals around the city are able to deal with the outbreak, initially starting with the field reporter encountering the locals and finding the first signs of the outbreak or the stoners who are too high to be bothered by anything else going on around them which leaves them open to attack once they encounter the bitten individual. The means through which it cuts across to the various individuals in their own stories gives this a fun interconnected central setup. The other plus of this type of approach is the film's highly effective sense of indie action scenes involving confrontations with the zombies in various locales. With the scenes shifting from an alleyway of a major city to an apartment complex, a suburban house holding strange secrets, a bachelorette party on the outskirts of the city, and finally to a city park located within the area, the attacks here are generally effective setups featuring the creatures showing up suddenly to impede someone's own story or featuring an infected individual turning on others to start the chaos. This usually comes with an assortment of solid indie-style gore gags and effects work that provides some fun to be had as the story of the outbreak is built through these features. Keeping this one moving along nicely due to always focusing on a new segment, there's quite a lot to really enjoy with this one. There are some factors here that bring this one down. Among the main drawbacks of this one is that the anthology format present means that it takes quite a while to get a hang of the individual characters within here. Switching to the isolated characters without any throughline here to keep track of everyone and what's going on. Since most of the time the characters don't even get names since it's usually focused on the lived-in universe around the town, incidents involving the stoners living together in their apartment or the woman who arrives at the house with the zombies being held for study has little context for what's happening so their purpose and connection with what's going on leaves this somewhat stilted. That also leaves us with no explanation for the outbreak or how to stop it, and with the usual assortment of low-budget indie features that are shown off frequently manage to bring this one down.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language, Graphic Violence, and Brief Nudity.

Zombie Rage
BandSAboutMovies2 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
With segments from directors Johnny Lektrik, Mark Kiazyk, Ken Brewer and John Ward, Zombie Rage gives you more zombie action than two or three movies all in one. It starts with "CKX News," in which reporter Nelson Bighammer (Nelson Mayer) discovers that all of the crime that's been happening in Winnepeg has been caused by the walking dead. Well, that and a little kid who is downtown for some drugs.

Speaking of drugs, "Two Stoners and a Zombie" has Tom (Tyler Ulrich) and Jerry (Keith Johnson) completely miss the fact that zombies walk the Earth, going so far as to even bring a bitten man named Brian (Lawrence Waller) back home, which endangers the girls -- Brenda (Brandi Krueger), Tanya (Meghann Rose Pino) and Nicole (Dominique Langford Rousseau) -- who hang out with them.

In "Flesh Attack," a thief played by Andriana Garbiso uses the zombie attacks to rob even more houses, but leaves the door way too open for the shambling horde. "Veronica's Bachelorette Party" seems like a time for Veronica (Traci Burr) to celebrate the last guy she'll ever get to have sex with before marriage before learning that the dancer (Doug Waugh) has been bit at a convenience store. The last story, "A Walk In the Park," has the goings on in a sexed-up park get stopped by, you guessed it, the living dead.

For a low budget movie, the effects are pretty strong in this movie and you can tell that the filmmakers have a real love for the genre of zombie movies. I wish there was some connectedness to the stories, but as it stands, this is definitely a fun time at the streaming movies.

Amateur time has arrived
coeluracat4 November 2023
This was just so bad that I don't know where the good reviews came from. I can only guess that they are relatives and friends of those involved in the production.

Imagine 5 separate groups of friends and family who all decide to write a zombie story and then film it independently with no previous script/screenplay, acting or directorial experience......it then gets cobbled together into this amateur monstrosity.

  • Dialogue was delivered as though being read directly from the piece of paper it was written on.

  • At one point the actresses were clearly challenged when trying to speak, act and walk, all at the same time...snail pace.

  • Acting was so wooden I'm surprised they weren't covered in bandages from the splinters.

Do yourself a favour and give this a big miss as it has no redeeming qualities.

1 star - For Effort (either theirs in making it or mine for watching to the end)

1 star - For reasonable zombie makeup attempts on a couple of occasions.

Another Great Ken and Meri production!!
Grandpa_The_Nerd17 August 2023
Just a quick review of Zombie Rage. I'm not an expert or a man of so this review will not be as good as the film.

This a another great film by Ken Brewer and Meri Death. It is also a collaboration with the Internet Astronauts and Dark Park Films. This film is an Anthology and a good one at that. Five great story's about folks during a Zombie apocalypse. I watched the Blu-ray copy and the picture and sound is awesome. The music is reminiscent of a 70's Italian horror film.

This is a pure independent film and like the films before a very good film. I'm looking forward to seeing the next film and all future films from Livid Media, The Internet Astronauts and Dark Park Films.

Do yourself a favor and see this film!! I gave it a 10 because to me it is one. I'm not comparing it to a big Hollywood picture but a true Indy film from writers and directors who love what they do and do it on their own!!
