Mixed feelings

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was definitely better than last week. I'm pretty stressed out by Harry being accused of murder. Any show where the main characters are falsely accused always makes me anxious. Of course, it makes sense that there are consequences after we learned the Human Harry killed the original doctor. Also it seems inevitable that the one person our Harry hurt would turn out to have it coming.

I love the addition of the feud with the neighboring town (and the murder tour run by Judy). Reminds me of Corner Gas for some reason and the feud between Dog River and Wullerton (spit). That and the 2 person team of bumbling cops. If there is a third season, maybe they should get Brent Butt to punch up the script a bit to make it funnier and get the action moving. Because on the one hand, I'm enjoying most scenes, but on the other I feel like there's only 8 episodes and then for all we know the show will get canceled. So get moving with a bit more urgency!

I blame this on the direction. Last season the directors were pretty uneven also - some episodes great, some not so much. This episode could have easily gone directly from Max waking up with the beard to him showing up in the diner to find Harry. Cut the rest between, which also makes his mom seem way too clueless, and Max too clueless. I really don't know what's up with the mom's character in general. One minute she's traumatized and numb after last season, one minute she's a sex maniac, the next she's an oblivious sitcom mom. She and the mayor are the characters the fit the least, even last season. At least the town feud and the kiss with D'Arcy give the mayor more direction now.

In general, this season so far seems to have lost some of the magic. Even Harry seems off. But last season had some clunker episodes in the beginning also, so we'll see. Also - so is Asta's dad psychic?

A few good laughs and as always great cast chemistry. The storylines are developing nicely though in honesty their a bit aimless. The patience murder tour? Iconic.

Better than S02E01 but still not as good or funny as S1
martinsmarkss3 February 2022
So if you are new, please watch the Season 1, and only than Season 2! Had some funny and awkward moments, some twists but somehow the S01 magic is gone ! Yes, i am happy that RA got second season knowing SyFy history with good shows!

Better than episode 1

" If he cant see the value of human's here, maybe we should become extinct "

Good episode. Surely puts the show or at least the season in a well known path.

Side note: loved how Darcy looked or have at least the same vibe as Clementine from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Magic is gone

The main.character has been pretty much relegated to an extra in this season.

It's now a drama show about anyone and everyone, about tedious everyday interactions, and not the clever look at humanity from an alien's perspective.

Tudyk does his best with what he has to work with, and it got exactly three small chuckles out of us during the 40 minute episode. He's a fantastic actor who with the good material made us LoL pretty much throughout season one,

Example of the magnitude loss in writing quality was a joke about not fitting a cow through a bunker entrance. The classic semantic overlap, where a discussion involves two perspectives, where someone asks a question from the first perspective and gets the answer from the other. I'm still puzzled as to how the writers failed so utterly at making that sort of joke work. It sure wasn't the delivery.

I'll let this season run its course, and in autumn might fast-forward to the "Harry" scenes in hope of at least some chuckles.

I prayed they wouldn't change up the formula from season one, but here we are. Another fizzle.

Writing is a hot mess. Editing is a hot mess.

Season One was magical. Something new, something funny.

Now it is a knockoff the parts of what made Season One work but as a collection of barely integrated scenes. Just using the characters as puppets to say things we expect them to say. They have missed the whole.

Each of these two episodes was just marking time until they hit the cliffhanger in the last 40 seconds.

Scenes like what and how he eats is a cute flourish, not a plot point which then seems to go nowhere. His name calling with the kids is sort of funny, but now pointless. Why is the young boy a complete nitwit this season? He went from naive but able to form a plan with his little friend; maybe she is right, space did something, like drop his IQ by 30pts.

I believe there is a rule where if you can take something out of a story and the story doesn't change then you take it out. The problem in applying that rule to these last two episodes would be only five minutes would remain; or less.

Maybe a few of these things have some "gun on the mantelpiece" aspect that will prove valuable later, but every "lead" is being ground out.

Then we have the editing. I don't think they have much to work with but it is just a bunch of scenes that don't flow together. Just scenes. Here we are in the lake, here we are in the diner, here we are somewhere else.

Something is missing from this show now. Something core. I highly suspect it is at least one someone who is missing or many a few missing someones.

I have recommended this show to so very many people and now I am having to apologize.

The Wire.

Warning: Spoilers
Humorous with Harry, but again too much of everyone else. The story's flimsy, but that's nothing new, the commercial and tour bad filler. The highlight of the episode's the deputy reading Harry's lips and assuming she's getting it wrong.

Off the rails

Seems like there were more commercials than actual program. The murder tour was totally ridiculous as was last weeks' bicycle built for two scene. A street tour would require some kind of permit from city hall. Harry's acting is getting bad and I am losing patience for Patience.

The Wire

This was better than the second season opener. At least there was location shooting of the lake.

Sheriff Thompson and Deputy Baker investigate Harry as a potential serial killer. The town is acquiring a reputation for some grisly deaths.

Baker puts her lip reading skills into good use but she comes out with what sounds like gibberish.

At least Harry gets to mingle with other townsfolk over a friendly game of poker.

More importantly as his alien species are adamant to destroy Earth. Harry constructs a bunker for he and Asta to stay safe.

The goofy humour looks forced so far. Harry interacting with the octopus does not work for me. Much better was the sudden changes to Max, like growing a beard.

I wonder if the show needs such an obvious homage to Starman as Harry uses the spheres.
