What happened?
cshine1817 February 2022
Thankfully not as painful as the last episode, but still not that great. Season 1 was amazing, but season 2 has just been a let down. They need to just get back to focusing on Harry.

Keep climbing out of last week's hole you dug.
PeteB12319 February 2022
Anything looks better than last week's Girls' Night episode. At least they put the alien back into half the scenes. There are still too many characters in this show with little or no contribution to the story.

Don't you just wish there were ways to get to the show's stakeholders and show them the error of their ways before their creation gets cancelled by higher powers?

Too bad...
jcollins-458-41538721 February 2022
Another episode that is better than many of the negative reviews. Harry is still Harry. The plot is moving forward. Some funny things were said.

Yeah, like every show that ever existed, season 2 introduces some new characters and the writers are trying new things so they don't run out of flow. It takes time to build back momentum. Real fans will give real feedback that will contribute to future seasons.

Too bad some people have to project their biased political attitudes in reviews about television shows. Good thing the Tucker Carlson show is there for these people to fall back on. These "I'm finished...." reviews that throw the woke word around as if it's a disease are transparently biased.

It's becoming more and more diverse
aboalhyjaa23 February 2022
Either in characters or stories. Unfortunately, thats not always a good thing.

The episode was a bit better than the last one, but its not even close to what season 1 was.

I really love that they're giving depth to the characters, especially Darcy, but I believe this show called resident alien not resident Darcy. And Asta, when is she going to stop doing stupid things? I guess we'll never know.

Heart warming, loving, and hilarious
nicholsonl-8934719 June 2022
This show is from its first moments about love, family, and acceptance. It is diverse, progressive, and does not shy away from these things. Patience is a town situated on native land and the influence on both the way these characters see one another and the show itself (they have native actors, art, and music spotlit throughout both seasons).

The ensemble is what truly blows me away every episode. The actors take these characters and run to the moon with them and there is a collaborative element that Chis Sheridan fosters on set which I feel make the show the best it can be. Everyone's a little weird and a little screwed up, but aren't we all?

Poor Max
rjack8518 February 2022
Episode 4 didn't get much better than the first 3 of this season. Number 3 was boring and almost unwatchable.

Poor Max has been reduced to a sidekick of his friend Sahar who gets all the lines while he just nods is visible.

If this is how the rest of the season plays out then I hope it's the last.

Feels like a different showrunner this season.
jasonklingensmith17 February 2022
This was hands down my favorite show on TV last year. It was funny, it was well written, there were some incredible acting performances, Alan Tudyk killed it as the lead, as did several supporting actors and actresses (most notably Alice Wetterlund and Corey Reynolds) and they really nailed the "fish out of water" theme, while developing some interesting supporting characters.

I wondered where they'd go with it this year, as it's hard to get away with the "fish out of water" thing for too long. Though a good example is What We Do In The Shadows (which has survived for 3 excellent seasons already, with another on the way). Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of the direction it's headed thus far. The first couple episodes were good, but not season 1 good. However, it seemed like they were setting up storylines that would pay off later, and it was still funny and enjoyable. Even the reveal and cliffhanger they left off on, made me super excited to see the next episode.

Then came "Girls Night", which felt like an entirely different show. They completely abandoned, and wrapped up, the most interesting storyline from the previous episode. The only thing I really noticed is that episode was written by Jenna Lamia (who plays Judy Cooper). It was the only episode she'd written, but she's a writer and I believe a showrunner for the show "Good Girls". That episode, while it had a few laughs, felt largely out of place, and more like an episode of Good Girls than an episode of Resident Alien. As evidenced by the overall IMDB rating, it wasn't up to par with the previous 12-13 episodes.

As for this episode? While it was more a return to form than "Girls Night", it was lacking in the humor department. I think it was about 40 minutes in when I finally laughed out loud (The "please like and subscribe" moment). I'll probably keep watching, but the last two episodes have been the least enjoyable so far.

I really hope they get back some of their season 1 mojo soon, or it's going to be a rough ride. I thought having another alien return to complete the mission, while being a polar opposite to Harry (who has developed many human qualities now), would have created a more interesting dynamic than the route they seem to have taken.

Edit: After watching "Family Day", I'm very happy with where the show's at now. That was, in my opinion, the funniest and probably best overall episode of season 2 so far.

Lacks purpose
Calicodreamin23 February 2022
This season has a definite lack of purpose. The main storyline is meagerly dragged along while the majority of the show is filler, lacking in depth and feeling.

No more

Not much better than the 3d episode. This was the last chance, so i give up. Season 1 was great at the beginning and so promising i actually didn't believe at first. How could you spoil such a great show.

scraps on the table.
Rob-O-Cop21 February 2022
As others have noted not quite as unpleasant to watch as last weeks but not good enough. The scraps of the good stuff, (ie the bits about an alien on earth, you know, the resident alien as indicated in the title of the show) was spread so thin there was hardly enough to keep our interest up.

Lots of side character embellishment, too much so, and not enough of the alien stuff.

They've really got to do better cos we're not going to be tuning in to watch and support this downward spiral.

Can they re edit the next episodes and maybe put a notice on the end to let us know They've got the message?

Radio Harry.
bombersflyup23 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's almost like a switch has been flicked, not that it was some great show. More PC by the episode, with less Tudyk and all these irrelevant plots. Harry's still terrific though, "You could not play a beach corpse on Law & Order," hehe or "Please subscribe."

Should have been a limited or mini-seres.
a22299921 February 2022
All the wokeness of that last couple episodes do not bother me so much. My issue is that since season 2 began it feels like this show has run out of great ideas. Jumping the shark if you will. In the first season there were lots of funny moments with Harry learning what it's like to be human. But now he has mostly done that so they are hurting for something to do. Season 1 was funny and fun but not perfect. Some jokes fell flat but overall, it was enjoyable. There are very few comedies that I like this was one of the few. Constantly maintaining a show that is different and creative is tough to do. Which is why the big networks play it safe with endless seasons of Law and Order and CSI clones. There is always another crime to solve and main characters can be swapped out without the audience caring very much. They would have been better off ending it on a high note. Could the show jump back and bring the magic back? It's possible but I doubt it.

Too Much Entitlement And Woman Power HS
yousefengasu22 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
"I know you don't care unless it's me, so guess what it's me again" The entitlement is off the charts some gratitude would be nice.

D'arcy has no purpose, no life and just lashes out at her parents who are the nicest people in the movie thus far painting them as if they're the bad ones in the situation by making her the sympathetic figure makes 0 sense.

+ we all know in real life women can't compete with men in most if not all physical sports and D'arcy has not even the athletic body cut the BS

The mayor is the worst character placement in the series, no identity no character no nothing just an empty shell of a human how can he be mayor no idea.

Making Max as a stupid secondary character to Sahar also makes no sense to how he was introduced into the series, I liked Sahar's role at the beginning but it's getting ridiculous.

The show seems to be losing it, sadly
Critical_Potat6 March 2024
It feels as if the show changed direction and leadership since the 1st season. Most of the humor is gone, characters changed and it's getting filled with unemployed trust-fund twitter user politics. The character that suffers the most is Asta, who used to be an interesting, fun and intelligent character in the 1st season, now she's being reduced to a nagging cringelord who's basically having a midlife crisis. Max went from Harry's nemesis to not having any lines, playing second fiddle to one of the show's most annoying, insufferable characters.

It's just sad to see a formerly funny show get hijacked and potentially ruined by untalented writers.

From original and enjoyable, to predictable & insufferable
adamplandy31 March 2022
The first season was good fun and had us watching episodes back to back. Alan Tudyk is a talented actor and the chemistry between him and Aster was great. Then season 2 arrived and the show has completely lost its way. The plot is wafer thin other than ham fistedly injecting social commentary and relentless misandry. They have diluted the character depth shallower than a worm's grave. I hope things pick up, or it'll be another show sacrificed upon the alter of failed good ideas.

Radio Harry
Prismark1021 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There is a story arc developing but it seems it has taken the fourth episode to put some meat on to the bones.

Harry has developed his radio. Asta reluctantly trusts him that he will send a signal to save the planet and not have it destroyed.

Harry does stop the planet from being destroyed in the next 50 years. That does not please Asta.

In the meantime the show explores relationship issues. I think it is trying hard to push Sheriff Mike with Deputy Liv.

More intriguing is General Wright returning and the new town doctor is still alive. The General thinks that he is an alien.

So another episode that seems to plod along. It seems to be a thing with several returning sci fi shows this season. I wonder if Covid has played a part.

Tudyk does provide a few laughs.
