At the 14:44 mark, when Roslin finds out that she has cancer, there are ships flying above the Doctor's office. One is making a landing and is a Firefly Class space ship or vessel in a nod to Joss Whedon's Firefly (2002) series and the movie "Serenity". Supposedly there are 40,000 Firefly class vessels still in use.
In communications, the flight leader is referred to as "CAG". This stands for Commander, Air Group in the current U.S. Navy. The series draws much of it's military terminology from the U.S. Navy and other U.S. Military organizations.
At the 14:45 mark, what very closely resembles a Firefly class transport ship can be seen through the glass ceiling in the lower left. Firefly was the name of the hit TV series Firefly (2002) starring Nathan Fillion which only ran for one season but later developed a cult following.
At about 9:00 the unit on the engine stand (lower left of frame) is actually a Rolls Royce RR250 turbine engine commonly used in the MD500 series and Bell 206 JetRanger helicopters.
