The Nicole/Penn storyline is frustrating and obvious.Penn is quite clearly trying to make Nicole think she might have HIV, constantly bringing it up despite Sid saying the risk is infinitesimal, so the revelation that he planted the needle isn't a huge one.Although the script stops short of making Nicole act completely stupid, it's a shame that she's so quick to lean on Penn while not letting Miles and the others near her.Sid is nicely characterised.
Marilyn seems to do her best to let Dexter down gently.Hopefully he got the message because this storyline makes very uncomfortable viewing and it probably isn't deliberate.
Ruby's storyline seems to be all over the place, with her reaction to Bianca seeming to be more out of embarrassment than because she's actually doing something.Xavier and April have a nice scene together. Ruby moaning to Leah feels like a strange moment manufactured because Nicole's busy elsewhere, although Ruby asking to move back in does at least give it some sense of purpose.April and Ruby's bonding moment is quite nice.
