A crystal skull from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) can be spotted as one of the trophies in the Trandoshian ship.
Model sculptor Darren Marshall looked at the original Chewbacca suits in the Lucasfilm Archives. He found the Revenge of the Sith suit had very straight and soft fur compared to the original trilogy suit, which was made of yak fur and had 'an extremely wavy shag to it.' Since the latter was easier to stylize for the animated figure, Chewbacca is based on his original trilogy look rather than Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005).
Sugi's ship, the Halo, has a painting of a Tooka doll holding a knife on its side with Aurebesh text that reads "Nice Playing With Ya."
When Chewbacca appears out of the wreckage of the Trandoshan ship, the Force theme can be heard.
Although most of the Trandoshans remain unidentified during the episode, many of them received names that referenced other pop culture sources: 'Gilas' (Godzilla): 'Ratter' (rattlesnake); 'Goron' (Star Trek's Gorn); 'Lagon' (the Creature from the Black Lagoon); 'Smug' (The Hobbit's Smaug) and 'Ramy' (Bantha Tracks editor Mary Franklin).
