Learn more- Hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke wasted no time getting to the results Tuesday night on "Dancing with the Stars," calling Kyle & Lacey and Brandy & Maks to the stage before the audience's initial applause had faded.
Kyle & Lacey were safe, but Brandy & Maks were still in jeopardy. Tom quickly went into Bruno's comments on Michael Bolton, saying he was a little hard on him. But Bruno didn't back down, saying he thought Rin Tin Tin could have danced a better jive. Bruno said his job is to critique, but Len shot back that the judges' job is to educate and encourage the dancers, and he felt Bruno was "too harsh."
Len said the judges, despite disagreeing on some things, all agreed on the encore. They asked Kyle & Lacey to dance their quickstep again.
Be our guest: Singer Janelle Monae paid a visit to perform her song, "Tightrope." Later, some dancers choreographed by "Rich & Tone" gave a pretty tremendous performance. Even later, Seal hit the stage to perform his new song, "The Weight of My Mistakes."
Backstage, Brooke asked Florence about her earlier comment that if she made it to Week 3, she'd "lock lips" with Len. She wanted to know what Florence would do if she made it to Week 4. Her response: "I will lock hips with him."
She also took an opportunity to try to clear up the question of whether Sarah Palin had been booed. They showed a clip of footage from the judges' camera, which appeared to show that fans in the audience were booing the 8s that the judges gave to Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough. Tom then cracked a joke about how Palin herself told him later that she didn't know what the controversy was about because she, too, was booing the judges.
Back to the results: Florence & Corky, "The Situation" & Karina, and Bristol & Mark were the next three couples called to the stage. The first of the three couples safe to dance another week was Florence & Corky. Also joining them were Bristol & Mark. "The Situation" & Karina were still in jeopardy.
Next up were Audrina & Tony and Jennifer & Derek. Both were safe.
After a featurette about how much each couple wants to win, four more couples were called to the stage: Michael & Chelsie, Kurt & Anna, Rick & Cheryl, and Margaret & Louis.
The next safe couple was Kurt & Anna, joined by Margaret & Louis. The other two couples would have to wait a little longer to learn their fates.
Backstage, Michael took an opportunity to say he thought Bruno was "inappropriate and disrespectful." Bruno responded by giving himself a slap on the hand.
The next couple safe was Rick & Cheryl. That left three couples, including "The Situation" & Karina, Brandy & Maks, and Michael & Chelsie.
After a break, Tom announced that the next couple safe was Brandy & Maks, leaving "The Situation" & Karina and Michael & Chelsie.
Finally, Tom said the couple with the lowest combined total was ... Michael & Chelsie.
Michael said he was surprised and disappointed to get kicked off.
