Exclusive: Projects involving Damian Jones and Versailles breakout star George Blagden also pitched at Edinburgh’s first works in progress event.
The Edinburgh International Film Festival (June 15-26) hosted its first works in progress event on Sunday, presenting seven British features still in production.
Films were looking for a combination of sales company representation, festival interest and final finance.
Between pitches were meetings and networking with industry representatives from Protagonist, Metrodome, Carnaby, Stray Dogs, Film4, Studiocanal, Lionsgate, Soda and Creative England.
Festival representatives attended from Tallinn Black Nights and International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Holly Daniel, Edinburgh’s head of industry and talent development, told Screen: “It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a while now. There’s a gap across the UK for films looking for the final piece of the puzzle…Given all our work with emerging talent already, that put us in a good position to provide that platform.”

Law & Order: Svu finally took on the Duggars and the surrounding scandals (minus the Ashley Madison account) and it was as twisted as you'd expect. In "Patrimonial Burden," the squad met the Baker family, a virtuous reality TV family that found its 13-year-old daughter suddenly pregnant? Who did it? That's where the twists came in. "He wouldn't hurt me. He loves me," Lane told Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson. "He loves you?" Benson asked. "You promised not to say, so how about you write it down and that way you're not breaking your promise." Lane fingered guest star Chris Elliot, a cameraman on the reality show. He had footage of the kids he...

Homosexuality is outlawed in Morocco, but young men walking down the street holding hands in friendship is a common sight. Hiding from the law and the gaze of neighbors (though not always family) are boys like the teenage Abdellah (Said Mrini), who gets talked into hurried outdoor trysts by older men who show him little affection after, or even during, the deed. After one such encounter, Abdellah steals for himself a rare moment of solitude, picking the petals off a flower: "He loves me, he loves me not." The impossibility of such a love haunts the coming-of-age drama Salvation Army, writer-turned-filmmaker Abdellah Taïa's lovely and elliptical adaptation of his autobiographical novel about growing up gay, effeminate, and powerless in Morocco. Though the fi...

The set will also include a host of special features and extras including: "The Music Behind the Film: He Loves Me Still," "The Music Behind the Film:...

Ah the Bunny Boiler! The most feared creature on the planet amongst men. Hopelessly infatuated with the male (or occasionally female) person of their choice, the Bunny Boiler, who usually suffers from a personality disorder or other deep psychological problems, relentlessly pursues the object of her adoration, never taking no for an answer. She usually displays murderous proclivities when push comes to shove and in these altercations, she takes on an almost supernatural power of invincibility. It’s hard to keep a good Bunny Boiler down.
The years 1992-1993 were vintage years for films featuring deranged female Bunny Boilers and it is from that time period that most of the films in the list are culled from. Bunny Boilerism is a sad fate to contract because the sufferers are normally very beautiful and talented in their own way. They are just a little bit too… intense.

Jordin Sparks has plenty to celebrate on her 24th birthday (Dec. 22). The "American Idol" winner is not only a successful recording artist, but is now transitioning to acting (don't worry, she's not going to stop singing). Plus, she's been in a loving relationship with singer Jason Derulo for two and a half years.
Although the two aren't engaged, Derulo's latest single, "Marry Me," an ode to the birthday girl (who costars in the video), makes it seem like marriage might be in the cards for the happy couple. Sparks told Zap2it recently that she understands why people have been wondering about their status.
"It's so funny because Jason's like 'Everybody keeps asking me [about marriage]' and I say 'We did kind of set ourselves up for that one,'" Sparks says. "We're definitely on that trajectory to get to that point. Things are so good with us now. He's working really hard,...

The longlist for the Best Song category in the Oscars has been announced – so what should make the cut?
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the longlist of songs for its Best Original Song Oscar in 2014, ahead of the nominations for the shortlist on January 14.
The list features 75 songs written for movies over the last year, with artists including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, U2, Coldplay, Kings Of Leon, Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and M83 all making the grade. Pharrell is included for his hit Happy, currently in the top 5 of the UK charts, which appears in Despicable Me 2, and other animated films make up a large proportion of those selected: Epic, Turbo, The Croods, Planes, Escape From Planet Earth and Monsters University all also get a mention.

Kasi Lemmons, director of Eve's Bayou and Talk to Me, chose a play by poet Langston Hughes as the basis for her new movie. Black Nativity is first and foremost a musical, featuring original pieces of music as well as new arrangements of familiar hymns and carols. Lemmons even co-wrote some of the songs, with Raphael Saadiq producing the music (he shares the "Music by" credit with composer Laura Karpman).
The music is the best thing about Black Nativity. Without the songs it would likely be a far more disappointing movie, as you can see plot lines coming from a mile away. There are a couple times when a character says something that punches you in the gut with its earnestness, but otherwise the story is as ridiculous as it is predictable.
Langston, a fatherless kid from Baltimore played by young Jacob Latimore, is sent to live with grandparents he's never met.

For one Reagan police brother, the problem was an ex-gang mamber. For the other, it was an ex-girlfriend.
Jamie (Will Estes) and Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) each had concerns in Friday's (Nov. 1) episode of CBS' "Blue Bloods," "Growing Boys," directed by former actor Eric Laneuville ("St. Elsewhere"). Jamie's problem involved a threat to his career, while Danny's posed a mild threat to his marriage.
Shooting hoops with former gang member Tomas (Jeff Lima) in the Juvenile Robbery Intervention Program initiated by Frank (Tom Selleck), Jamie was dismayed to see the youth hassled by some of his earlier comrades. The trouble escalated when Jamie witnessed Tomas being chased by the others, prompting him to give pursuit and yell, "Police!"
The chase ended tragically when one of the potential assailants ran into the path of a car that struck him, causing injuries that left the sudden victim possibly paralyzed from the waist down.

New Orleans -- As the concert portion of the 2013 Essence Music Festival kicked off on Friday night, The Huffington Post was live on hand to take in one of the country's most important -- and fun -- festivals.
Brandy, LL Cool J, Jill Scott, and Maxwell got the party at Essence Fest started right with four stunning performances.
Brandy, whose first album came out almost twenty years ago, kicked things off with awesome renditions of her classics. From some of her earlier hits like "I Wanna Be Down, and "Sittin Up In My Room" to the more recent "Two-Eleven" offerings, Brandy's show did more than just warm up the crowd.
While she clearly has plenty of hits of her own, the highlight of her show was without a doubt the three song medley she did covering her favorite Whitney Houston tunes. No one will ever be able to perform "How Will I Know,...

If a network wants to boost its "Bash," adding Heather Locklear isn't a bad way to go.
The actress, considered a good-luck charm by the late television uber-producer Aaron Spelling -- who cast her in "Dynasty," "T.J. Hooker" and arguably her biggest career success to date, "Melrose Place" -- returns to series work by joining the regular cast of TNT's law drama "Franklin & Bash" when it starts its third season Wednesday, June 19.
She plays the firm's new partner, Rachel King, a hard-charging professional who's more than a bit reminiscent of her "Melrose" character, Amanda Woodward. And that's hardly by coincidence, Locklear tells Zap2it.
"I'm so lucky," she says. "When this came, I was like, 'Oh, this should be fine.' The character was already pretty laid out for me, and I'm just adding what I would do on a daily basis in my acting.

Previously on Pretty Little Liars, Alison Dilaurentis had a funeral. And another funeral. And another and another and another, and every funeral drew a smaller crowd than the one before it because the longer she was dead, the more apparent it became that the girl was an emotional terrorist. During one of the funerals, the Liars were each invited to add a keepsake to Ali's casket, just little trinkets to honor the most memorable moments of trauma she inflicted upon them. Earrings from the time Ali coerced Aria into destroying her philandering father's office. Ouija Board planchette from when Ali's ghost made herself known to Hanna for the first time. One-by-one the casket gifts appeared above ground, and also a necklace made of Ali's actual human teeth. Ali's casket was like Mary Poppins' carpet bag, is what I am saying.

On Friday, Einstein relaxed with a spa day at Comodog, a local pet grooming salon, where he got the works: a bath, a haircut and a massage.

Doesn’t Heather look like she’s 10 years younger? Here’s what a plastic surgeon has to say about her miraculously youthful appearance!
We can’t believe Heather Locklear, 49, looks as good as she does right now. She’s returned to Lifetime with the movie ‘He Loves Me,’ and we can’t stop wondering how you just turned the clock backwards on your face!
Her face looks too perfect to have nothing done to it, but we can’t be quite sure. New York City plastic surgeon Dr. Sam Rizk says Heather’s skin looks fresh and rested. “Her skin appears line free—perhaps, she’s had Botox.” Hey, for her age it’s nearly impossible to be walking around wrinkle-free, naturally!
Although Heather’s always had healthy and clear skin, Dr. Rizk says “Her face looks smooth. We may venture to guess that she has had fat injections or fillers to restore lost volume.
We can’t believe Heather Locklear, 49, looks as good as she does right now. She’s returned to Lifetime with the movie ‘He Loves Me,’ and we can’t stop wondering how you just turned the clock backwards on your face!

Welcome to Monday evening! There's really no good news about it except for the fact that if you're reading this you survived Monday and frankly sometimes that's enough. Personally, I'm not done yet because I have laundry to attend to and yes I know I could've done it over the weekend but I'm sure the other apartment dwellers who contend with community laundry rooms can back me up on the fact that the weekend (particularly Sunday) is the worst time to do your laundry. Sunday is apparently the day everyone wakes up and realizes they've got nothing to wear but blood drive tee shirts and workout pants bought in a fit of enthusiasm and hope over New Year's Eve that still have the tags attached. If you can somehow make it over into Monday (in jeans that are slightly too small with holes in places you hope no one is...

In her new Lifetime movie, 'He Loves Me,' Heather Locklear plays a successful Seattle real estate agent who seems to be having a problem: She's devoted to her husband but can't seem to separate herself from the passionate affair she's having with another man.
But something about Laura seems a bit... off. And in a movie that takes a lot of twists in turns, it's up to Locklear to let viewers in on Laura's very complicated psyche.
Locklear is used to playing complicated characters, not the least of which was Amanda Woodward of 'Melrose Place,' number 37 on our list of the 100 most memorable female characters in TV history.
I spoke to Locklear earlier this week about the movie, what's so juicy about playing bad characters, and if she's been able to take any cues from some of the very public...

Just got off the phone with Heather Locklear, who was promoting her new Lifetime movie 'He Loves Me,' which premieres on March 7. We talked about the movie and how she's dealt with some of her recent personal struggles. But I wanted to wrap up our talk with a question about Charlie Sheen, as his latest rants against Chuck Lorre, CBS and Warner Bros. have rocketed around the Internet.
She told me that she hasn't seen Sheen, with whom she co-starred on 'Spin City' from 2000-2002, in a couple of years, but she definitely has sympathy for him. "I pray that he's Ok," she said. "I want the best for him and his children and his ex-wife, and for his father. So many people are scared."
That's not to say that she was completely forgiving. She added,...
