For many years, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has remained a tactically competitive shooter that tries to remain fresh. With every season, players expect new playable operators, map changes, and quality-of-life updates.
However, the next season (New Blood) is doing things a bit differently, and players are going to have a new range of updates coming their way, which isn’t making the community too happy, especially when Ubisoft plans to ask for investment when selling the premium season pass.
Rainbow Six Siege Will Now Have a Monthly Membership Option for $10 Years later, Ubisoft is still finding new ways to get players to spend money on the game.

Jia Zhangke’s is often a cinema of déjà vu: “We’re again in the northern Chinese city of Datong,” Giovanni Marchini Camia wrote for Sight and Sound back in 2019, “it’s again the start of the new millennium, Qiao is again dating a mobster, yet no one else makes a reappearance and there are enough differences to signal that this isn’t a sequel or remake.” Camia was writing about Ash Is Purest White yet much of the same could be said for Caught by the Tides, the director’s latest experiment in plundering his archive––indeed his memories––and spinning what he finds into something new. The protagonist of Tides is again named Qiao and is again played by Zhao Tao, appearing here in more than 20 years of the director’s footage and allowing the viewer to watch that singular creative partnership evolve in real time––one of...

Al Pacino and Dan Stevens have teamed up for exorcism horror film “The Ritual” from director David Midell.
XYZ Films has acquired worldwide rights to the feature, with plans to release it theatrically in 2025 and arrange international distribution at the upcoming Cannes market.
“The Ritual” was written by Midell and Enrico Natale and produced by Andrew Stevens, Mitchell Welch and Natale. Ashley Greene and Abigail Cowen round out the cast.
Based on a true story, “The Ritual” follows two priests — one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) — who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms. The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.

Prince’s Iraq War-Era Plea for Peace, “United States of Division,” Finally Gets Wide Release: Stream
A rare Prince song has finally received a wide release. Titled “United States of Division,” the song originally arrived on July 4th, 2004 as the B-side to the Musicology single “Cinnamon Girl,” and only saw limited release on physical editions in the UK and Europe. Now, for the first time, it’s available on streaming platforms everywhere.
The wide release of “United States of Division” arrives via Sony, and was “sourced from the original master tapes in Prince’s legendary vault.”
Lyrically, as its title suggests, “United States of Division” is a political — albeit non-partisan — song, calling on everyone to “stop fighting,” put down their guns, and “gather round” and “make love.” Echoing the sentiments of its A-side “Cinnamon Girl,” which mourned the innocent loss of life and rise of racism that followed 9/11, the song interjects its dancey, feel-good refrains with pointed questions, like “what is this rush to declare war?...

The Marvel Zombies are coming to the MCU. The animated alternate timeline will see the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe facing a plaque that turns all metahumans into the walking dead. However, is Disney willing to go for gore and a mature rating?
Possibly! According to Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, horror fans may rest easy knowing that the blood and guts of the comics could be represented on Disney+.
While speaking with IGN, Winderbaum did not precisely confirm that the show would be intended for mature audiences, but he is pretty sure that Marvel Zombies isn’t going to fly with a TV-Y7(-Fv) or TV-14 rating:
“In terms of more mature animation, yeah, we’re making a Marvel Zombies show right now that is pretty intense that’s for sure a TV-ma show.“
The show has no official release date yet, but it is said to premiere this year.

Exclusive: Sundance documentary Never Look Away, the directorial debut of actress Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess), has been sold by XYZ to Greenwich Entertainment for all rights in North America, and to Kaleidoscope for all rights in UK.
Both distributors have committed to theatrical releases in the territories. Kaleidoscope will also take over rest of world sales. The film is set to have additional screenings at SXSW this weekend.
The film puts a spotlight on the late, swashbuckling CNN combat camerawoman, Margaret Moth, who risked it all to put the viewer inside the conflict. When a fateful injury got in the way of her appetite for danger and adrenaline, she had a decision to make about her career and survival.
Pic was produced by Matthew Metcalfe of Gfc Films, Tom Blackwell and Lawless, and was written by Metcalfe, Blackwell, Lawless and Whetham Allpress. XYZ Films is executive-producing.

Starring Arienne Mandi, Amir, Jaime Ray Newman and Ash Goldeh, and written by Nattiv — an Oscar winner for his short film “Skin” — and Elham Erfani, “Tatami” is set during the Judo World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia. Midway through the competition, Iranian female judo fighter Leila (Mandi) and her coach Maryam (Amir ) receive an ultimatum from the Islamic Republic ordering Leila to fake an injury and lose, lest she be branded a traitor of the state. Flying Lotus has directed the experimental comedy Kuso and the Ozzy’s Dungeon segment of the horror anthology V/H/S/99, and next up for the rapper and filmmaker (who is a.k.a. Steven Ellison) is the sci-fi thriller Ash, starring Eiza González (Baby Driver) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad). When González and Paul were cast in the film, Flying Lotus released a statement saying, “We are building something fresh and unique with Ash and having Eiza and Aaron in this world just makes it flames. They are absolute magic makers, brave and equally inspiring. All that to say… We ‘bout to kill this shit.” And apparently they did kill it, because Deadline reports that Amazon’s Prime Video has just secured the international rights to the film in a high-seven figure pact, nearing $10 million. The film is currently in post-production, so we don’t know when Prime Video will be releasing it.

XYZ Films has acquired North American sales rights to the horror-thriller “Deus Irae,” the debut feature of Argentine filmmaker Pedro Cristiani, and will introduce the film to buyers at the upcoming AFM. Variety has been given exclusive access to the film’s bone-chilling trailer (see below).
Premiering at the Mar Del Plata Film Festival in November, “Deus Irae” follows Father Javier, a priest living a fractured existence. On one side, he assists families who claim to have witnessed miracles, and on the other he belongs to a trio of excommunicated priests who hunt the possessed down to exorcize them under their own terms: with Bibles, fire and shotguns.
But when the only way to crush Evil is by becoming something even worse, he must question how much of his own humanity — or sanity — he’s willing to sacrifice in order to defeat the Devil.

It was heartbreaking when the copyright dispute between original Friday the 13th producer/director Sean S. It would be odd if there are licensing issues, because the rights to the overall Evil Dead franchise seem to be rather clear cut: they’re owned by franchise creator Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert, and star Bruce Campbell.
Here’s the announcement:

CAA China has teamed up with the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society to unveil a joint initiative that will foster Chinese-language genre film projects.
The Hgc initiative will operate an open call for projects from Monday until the end of October. Five successful projects will be selected and presented at next year’s FilMart rights market and Haf project matching event.
As part of the program, “CAA China will fund $20,000 cash awards to each of two handpicked projects to support their development, with customized guidance from mentors.” CAA China may also choose to board the winning projects later by entering into script development agreements.
“We are witnessing the rise of a new generation of Chinese filmmakers who are the backbone of Chinese cinema,” said Mary Gu, CEO of CAA China. “By collaborating with Hkiff Society, our aim is to discover and support young filmmakers with industry awareness and mainstream expression.

Ash have shared a brand-new single from their forthcoming album Race The Night. ‘Like A God’ is the follow-up to last month’s lead single and album title-track ‘Race The Night’, which heralded anticipation for a record that promises to be super-charged, widescreen and with melodies to spare. It won instant support across BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2 and Absolute Radio, bringing with it what lead singer and guitarist Tim Wheeler described as “the sound of the band revelling in the sheer joy of being a band after being separated by time and distance through the insanity of the early 2020s.”
‘Like A God’ comes on fast as muscular riffing beats a path to its wild and raucous end. Wheeler comments: “Like A God pushes the rock aspect of the album to its furtherest limits. An ode to sexual apotheosis it revels in a carnal riff played with mantra like...

Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez posted an Instagram story for her 7.7 million followers where she displayed her gorgeous body in a bathroom mirror.
She wore a pink-and-yellow bikini with an animal print design in addition to a large, bright pink flower that was behind her ear. The story caption read, “ burnt. Crispy crispy.”
In the picture, she had a natural look on in addition to having shiny red nails, a red watch and jewelry.
Another picture was taken in New Zealand as production is finishing on her current film, Ash, with the caption, “Kia Ora New Zealand. Flying Lotus (aka Steven Ellison) has already made a name for himself in the music business as a Grammy Award-winning rapper, producer, and composer. But the multi-hyphenate dabbles in film production, too, like his 2017 feature debut “Kuso,” which had its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. There’s also his installment in the “V/H/S/99” horror anthology from last year, which he wrote, directed, and scored himself.

Musician-turned-director Flying Lotus (Kuso) recently directed a segment in Bloody Disgusting’s V/H/S/99, and his next project will be a sci-fi thriller titled Ash. Today, EW brings a first look at leads Eiza Gonzalez and Aaron Paul in the mysterious project.
Ash is said to center on ”a woman (Eiza González) who wakes up on a distant planet and finds the crew of her space station viciously killed, and must then decide if she can trust the man (Aaron Paul) sent to rescue her. But as their investigation into what happened sets in motion a terrifying chain of events, he begins to wonder how innocent she really is.”
Paranoia and trust issues in space? We’re in.
Gonzalez told EW, “We don’t wanna really give away too much, but I would consider it like a sci-fi/thriller horror movie.”
Neill Blomkamp (District 9) will be producing the upcoming feature.

Aaron Paul and Eiza González are teaming up with Flying Lotus (a.k.a Steven Ellison) for a mysterious science-fiction film called Ash. Plot details remain in shadows, though some tidbits have managed to emerge from the gloom. According to Entertainment Weekly, González plays a woman who awakes to find the rest of her space station crew dead from questionable circumstances. When a man (Aaron Paul) arrives to escort her to safety, she wonders if she can trust this new and perplexing stranger. Meanwhile, Paul’s character wonders the same about the lone survivor of an interstellar massacre.
In addition to revealing to basics of the plot, EW debuted a gallery of first-look images (below) from Ash, Flying Lotus’ second feature film. “The way his brain works is quite special,” González says about Flying Lotus. “He reminds me a lot of David Fincher, who also started in music videos, as...

Ash has announced their first new album together in more than five years, and sharing a new single alongside news of an upcoming UK / EU tour. Race The Night, the band’s eighth studio album, will be released on 15th September 2023 via one of their earliest label homes Fierce Panda. With 29 years, 18 hit singles, seven studio albums and an unfathomable number of tour dates since their appearance on the label’s 1994 Crazed And Confused compilation, Race The Night is both a party with old friends and a message to leap into the present with arms wide open.
Fitting then that the lead single should be the album’s title-track, with its super-charged and widescreen anthemia being the perfect primer for a record that has melodies to spare. “Before the shadows let us go, and it’s too late, to race the night” sings lead vocalist and guitarist Tim Wheeler as...

Looking over actor-director Steve Buscemi’s film directorial work, the theme of loneliness and the hunger for connection jumps out of nearly all of them. His latest feature, “The Listener,” feels closer to his 2005 feature “Lonesome Jim,” itself a story about a depressed man trying to imbue meaning in his life by connecting with someone else.
In the case of “The Listener,” though, that connection is more anonymous, reminding us of the bad early days of the pandemic when we were so afraid that we might never interact with another human that any type of communication, even through the phone, felt like a lifeline.
But what happens when your job is to take on everyone else’s emotional energy? Where does that leave you when you need an outlet but you can only project positivity and reassurance? These are the questions at the center of “The Listener.”

“All right, you primitive screwheads! You see this? This is my autograph!” Or is it? Bruce Campbell gave some fans some not-so-groovy news over the weekend after they tried showing off an autograph from Ash himself.

Nine months ago, it was announced that Tessa Thompson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt had signed on to star in Ash, a sci-fi thriller from rapper and filmmaker Flying Lotus, a.k.a. Steven Ellison. Then, two months ago, we learned that Thompson and Gordon-Levitt both had to drop out of the project and were replaced by Eiza González (Baby Driver) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad). Filming on Ash is now underway, with González and Paul in the lead roles – and Deadline has revealed that they’re being joined in the cast by Beulah Koale (Hawaii Five-o), Kate Elliott (The Gulf), and Iko Uwais of the Raid films.
González will be playing a woman who wakes on a far-flung planet to find her crew mysteriously murdered. When a man (Paul) comes to investigate the scene, she must decide if she can trust him or if he’s responsible for her series of unfortunate events.

Evil Dead Rise (read our review right Here), a movie that was once intended to go straight to the HBO Max (now simply known as Max) streaming service, reached theatres on April 21st, and it looks like it’s going to be receiving a digital release on May 9th. (That’s what Microsoft is promising.) Before we reach that date, the official Evil Dead Twitter account has sent out a tweet celebrating the fact that Evil Dead Rise has now earned over $100 million at the global box office!
That’s a great accomplishment for a movie that cost under $20 million, and it reached that number in just three weeks. The previous Evil Dead movie, released in 2013, didn’t reach $100 million during its theatrical run, falling just short at $99,010,045.

The Evil Dead series might be the greatest argument against literacy the movies have ever produced. Each film drops its protagonists into a series of bloody horrors that could have easily been avoided had they just never opened a book. The latest entry, Evil Dead Rise, adds vinyl to the list of cursed physical media, but switches out the franchise’s remote cabin in the woods for a high-rise apartment building. The changes mesh well with the franchise’s simple formula, reinvigorating a series that has lasted much longer than Michiganders Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell probably expected 40 years ago.
Raimi and Campbell serve as executive producers for Evil Dead Rise, similar to their roles with Fede Alvarez’s 2013 Evil Dead remake. But where Alvarez’s film seemed intent on proving that it could be the most deadly serious horror movie ever, in its best moments, Evil Dead Rise captures...

Fresh voices can breathe new life into an old idea, which is why the majority of Evil Dead Rise‘s cast and crew outside of producers Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Tapert are newcomers to the franchise. Production designer Nick Bassett and cinematographer Dave Garbett, however, notably worked together on Ash vs Evil Dead before being summoned back by the Necronomicon for the series’s latest installment.
Bassett’s connection to the Evil Dead extended family dates back to the mid-’90s, when Tapert was producing Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess in Auckland, New Zealand, where Bassett is based. “A big part of my film history, really, is with those guys, especially Rob,” he says, crediting Tapert with giving him his break.

You know when you’re watching a Sam Raimi and beyond, Raimi’s impact on modern cinema can’t be understated.
Now, as Evil Dead Rise hits the big screen – with Raimi as producer, bringing director Lee Cronin into the undead fold – Empire presents a ranking of Raimi’s ten best films. Make way for killer carnage, heartfelt heroes, doomed protagonists, and Deadites galore.
10) Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness
Bigger, bolder, and barmier than the first instalment officially exists in the MCU now. Groovy.

9) The Evil Dead

Nearly everyone he spoke to said his script wouldn’t work: you couldn’t just dive into the blood and guts without setting it up, they said.

This piece contains spoilers for "Evil Dead Rise."
There is no denying how big of an impact the character of Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) has had on making the "Evil Dead" franchise as big as it is. While some people might come into the franchise looking for disturbing imagery and bloody kills, others are open with their adoration of the bumbling hero, who has been a somewhat consistent presence in every entry in the franchise. He's the closest the franchise has to an icon, like how Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees are the faces of "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th," respectively. It's as if Ash is intrinsically connected to "Evil Dead," and thinking of the franchise without him would be weird.
That is, until "Evil Dead Rise" clawed its way out of development and into theaters. Lee Cronin's new take on the series doesn't feature the groovy antihero.

Evil Dead is a rarity. It’s one of the very few franchise frights that is routinely good. From the very first film way back in 1981 to the bloody good sequels and spin offs. And even an impressive remake/reboot courtesy of Fede Alvarez. That brings us to the latest in the series, Evil Dead Rise. While the most recent entry into the world of Deadites has nothing to do with Bruce Campbell’s Ash, it manages to be incredibly creepy, intense, and very gruesome. Directed by Lee Cronin, the new flick stars Mirabai Pease, Richard Crouchley, Anna-Maree Thomas, Lily Sullivan, and Alyssa Sutherland.
Recently, we sat down with Mr. Cronin, as well as the film’s stars, Sutherland and Sullivan. First up, we spoke with Lee about his take on Evil Dead, and bringing the red stuff. And yes, there is a lot of it. The filmmaker opened up about his vision,...
